    Divisimate is a genius invention. It's so good that not everyone believes it first. People will realise it's value soon.

    I always thought the limit for lifelike virtual instruments stopped at the strings. Brass and woodwinds were pretty much captured, but I could never find a vst or anything that realistically captured the sound of a string instrument, solo or ensemble, without giving at least a hint of a horrible midi sound. Welp, thanks for proving me wrong guys. Amazing work.

    Can Divisimate work in or with Camelot?

    • @AudioModeling
      @AudioModeling  4 роки тому +5

      Oh yes, we are going to prepare templates also for Camelot.
      The setup is similar with DAWs: your controller controls Divisimate, which in turn will send MIDI messages on different MIDI Ports. Each MIDI port coming from Divisimate can be assigned to a Layer in Camelot.
      Each Layer in Camelot can host one or more Plugins AND/OR one or more connections to Physical Synthesizers!

    What is the name of the tool that person performing have in his mouth? Is it supposed to be changing velocity depending on how you blow into it?

    • @AudioModeling
      @AudioModeling  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Sun mazu, that's the BBC2 Breath Controller by TEControl (tecontrol.se).
      It does not change the velocity, it changes the Expression. Velocity is totally inadequate to control expressive instruments, as it is just a fixed value at each note-on.
      Expression can be shaped during the whole duration of a note.

    Hi! I have some questions.
    1. Does Divisimate work just with Swam sounds? I have, for example, Spitfire Audio BBCSO Core and I bought something from NOISE for Roli; could I use what I have? If not, what should I buy to use Divisimate?
    This are my main questions, I start from these ones. Thanks in advance and congratulations! 😍

    • @AudioModeling
      @AudioModeling  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Tom! Divisimate works independently from the virtual instruments you want to use.
      Of course, being Nextmidi our partner, we work closely together to optimize the result with SWAM.
      In this video, btw, SWAM instruments are layered with a sample library.

      @@AudioModeling Thank you! Sorry, I really have to understand, I could decide to buy it but I need precisely to know:
      - So: I use Logic and Spitifire BBCSO Core, for the moment. If I buy Divisimate, how does it find my sounds? I have to "connect" Divisimate with Logic? How should I do?
      And I want to know: I can choose the instruments for the live orchestration before playing or not?

    • @AudioModeling
      @AudioModeling  3 роки тому +1

      @@morganaticboy Divisimate is a MIDI processor software. It is in between your MIDI controller and Logic (or any other DAW).
      The instruments are loaded as usual on different tracks in the DAW.
      Logic, unfortunately, is limited in the number of concurrent channels, so you can control maximum 16 instruments (tracks) at the same time.
      Nextmidi offers free ready-to-use templates for the most common DAWs, including Logic.

      Can Camelot and Divisimate run simultaneously on the same computer and ipad ? or do I need a second tablet or second laptop ?
      And last question ( sorry :D )... Are there any divisimate templates for pro tools ? Couldn't find it on the website...

    Whoa! what the hell of a computing power will you need for that???

    • @AudioModeling
      @AudioModeling  4 роки тому +10

      Divisimate load on CPU is extremely LOW, it's just a "smart" MIDI router.
      What's demanding in term of CPU power is how many SWAM instruments you play at the same time.
      To play an entire orchestra you need a powerful machine, indeed: an i7 or i9 processor with a good L2 cache and 64 GB RAM.

      @@AudioModeling What exactly are the specs of the computer being played here? Thank you.

      @@Solaremusic I can answer that:
      The template is running on a Macbook Pro with a 2,3GHz 8-core Intel Core i9 with 32 GB of RAM.

    • @Solaremusic
      @Solaremusic 4 роки тому +1

      @@Nextmidi Thank you, so while your software doesn't require a monster of a machine, a monster of a machine is required anyway as many instruments consume a lot of memory.

    • @Nextmidi
      @Nextmidi 4 роки тому +2

      @@Solaremusic Yes, it depends on the amount of instruments you want to play together. Divisimate does not add much CPU load to it. If your system can handle all tracks of your template record enabled and played in unison at the same time, it will most likely handle about the same amount of instruments with Divisimate.
      With SWAM instruments, it is more CPU than memory. The Big Band template (featured in episode 1) is running fine on significantly smaller machines. We tested it on an i7 4770K with 32GB ram here, only hitting about 50-60% CPU load with the full band.
      The full orchestral template is quite heavy on CPU though since there are more than 40 instruments playing simultaneously, so the MacBook got pretty hot during our days at NAMM.

    there is a "how to make ensembles with swam solo instruments" on your webpage, where the tutor puts alot of work into the creation of a realistic ensemble (midi-automation-data-changes, different bodies for the instruments etc). Is that all done automatically with divisimate? Or is the result in your daw with divisimate just the same as when putting several solo-instruments together and then copying all the parts?

    • @Nextmidi
      @Nextmidi 4 роки тому +4

      Divisimate is used to split up the chords you are playing into individual musical voices. So if you are playing a three-note chord you can send the highest notes to the violins, second highest to the violas and the lowest to Celli and Basses. Normally this could only be achieved by playing or programming the different parts one after the other, but here you can do it in one take and quickly preview how different combinations and voicings sound.
      Divisimate does have a humanization engine to create differences in timing and dynamics between different parts. But in our SWAM Templates we are using a mixture of techniques to create the string ensembles, including different bodies, room placements and light layering with sampled string ensembles. So there is a Cubase session in the background with multiple tracks being triggered by Divisimate with different notes. We are offering free templates for SWAM and Divisimate for multiple DAWs to replicate the sound from our demonstrations.
      Here's a video breaking down how the string sound of the templates is built:
