  • Paul Townley presents his favourite trigger point massage tools together with some advise regarding their use.
Trigger point tools are used by massage and manual therapists to help save their hands, and often as a really useful adjunct when treating trigger points - although these have to be used with careful consideration and only after manually locating the trigger points or area to be worked on.
Tools are also often a great way to help teach your clients to help treat themselves at home between sessions. Sometimes all it really does take is some regular compression treatment to the general area, and the tools are great for giving clients the confidence that they'll hit the spot and do some good.
This video is meant for trained massage and manual therapists only. Always take relevant medical advice before attempting any self treatment including trigger point release.

Try triggerpoints on left neck and behind head, press under skull and upwards and hold on pain locations. Do a pressure glide on neck, stop on all pain points and engage pressure to release. When pain backs off, while holding pressure, go deeper till you reach pain level of 3 on a 1 to 5. Search and repeat.

What's you expert opinion on dry needling/acupuncture for tight muscles? Would you recommend such treatments?
