      @@touyatodoroki338 It grows wild in my yard two colors, some I trellis others I use as shade for some of my Asian vegetables that don't like harsh 90-100 degree sun. So beautiful in bloom and I live them but have to watch they don't go creeping onto my neighbors trees. Once you seed an area it takes over so watch it. I thin them out as well. Hope you got to plant and enjoy those lovely flowers.

    This is the most easiest video to watch & learn about growing Jasmine plant. My plants did nothing bloom this year. Now I might think it’s possible to aphids. I had no idea aphids are a pest to jasmine. This is the 2nd year of growing my jasmine plants. Thanks for the video. I will be repotting them after watching your video.

    Hello from NJ. I have two types...a white winter jasmine and I also Gardenia Jasminoides. I over wintered them on the porch with translucent plastic sheeting, extra dirt, and day sun to heat it up enough to keep it going. So far it has worked for both plants that are now outside for our Spring weather. I pruned both plants and dug in epsom salt. I let the rain water, which seems to be not stop this week, take care of the watering. Hoping both flourish this season. Thanks for sharing your tips.

    Great info!! I'm ready to repot my Arabian jasmine into a larger pot after being overwintered (zone 7). I have Espoma Potting Mix, Perlite and Pine bark fines. What's a good ratio of these three? Also, when I'm repotting, should I work the plant food into the new soil mixture, or just apply to the surface when I'm done? I have Espoma Plant-tone plant food to use now and a 5-10-5 for mid summer. Thanks so much, sir!

      Just ask for a cutting and grow your own. I ask my neighbors for most anything I really like and they give me a cutting and I give out to any of my neighbors who ask me for a cutting. Our neighborhood gets so beautiful from spring to late summer and smells good too at periods of time-so pleasant to walk in the mornings and stroll in the evenings.

    During the early summer after fertilizing in spring generally in the telugu states we traditionally remove all the leaves and before removing we give it water.We avoid watering the plant atleast for 10 days after removing leaves and this intiates a lot of buds.If you water in this time period it intiates leaves again instead of flowering buds.

    love watching all your videos..I got a $10 star jasmine from home depot 2.5 months back.. It's doing well. But i see the flowers get brunt and dry and fall off..It's get hot here in zone 9b. It gets direct sun almost all day. Should I move the part to part shade?

      Star jasmine is not the same as true jasmine or jasminum sambac. It’s in the Dogbane family and the scent is different. I hear people say it smells like true jasmine, but it really doesn’t. It smells more like a lily. If you want to know how to take care of star jasmine you might want to watch other video.

    Hi I’m in zone 7A, I have star Jasmine and although the foliage is bright green and healthy the flowers turn brown and fall off. It does re-bud and the cycle continues. I live in a quite humid area, the plant receives at least five hours of sunlight and the rest is indirect bright light. I have used fertilizer on this potted plant to see if I could boost the flower production but not much luck.

    Did you repot it in the same container or did you use a bigger container every year?

    Thanks for the tips on repotting. I didn’t break up the root ball when I transplanted a month ago (Feb, Zone 10b San Francsico) and I have zero new growth and yellow leaves. Perhaps I should have used your technique!

    hi there, how do you repot the jasmine plant if it has been growing up a trellis?

    • @CaliforniaGardening
      @CaliforniaGardening  4 роки тому

      You have to do it in place. Support the root mass, remove the pot, prune the roots and add the pot back and add soil

      @@CaliforniaGardening thank you for responding. So it sounds like I won't need to upsize pot, just trim the roots.
      One last query, am i able to plant jasmine together with blueberry in a pot? i want the jasmine to keep growing on trellis up to 3 metres and 1 blueberry plant at the front in the same pot.
      If I can plant together, what size pot do you recommend? If I cannot plant together, what size pot should I plant my jasmine in for optimum growth in terms of reaching height of 3metres on the trellis. Thank you again.

    I have never been able to get this to root. Back in the home country, young boys go around selling necklaces and bracelets made of these early in the morning. I was always excited to buy one and tie it in my hair. Here I never have enough flowers in a day to make one.
