I have owned this soundbar for 3 years and it is excellent for our listening pleasure. The Firestick 4K works very well with the soundbar - powers off and on with no issues. We have used this soundbar with 3 actual LG tv's and they would not power off the soundbar completely however after 5 minutes of no activity the soundbar does power down. Current LG tv has magic remote.
Just bought one and tried it on my LG tv. Very easy to set up (with optical my case) took me less than 10 minutes to unbox and set it up. Bass is very very poor, sound quality was almost the same as my internal tv speakers except it came from the front of the tv! I returned it the same day and bought a Creative stage V2 2.1. For about $40.00 more (in my case), you get way better sound, sub whoofer with decent bass, much more connectivity options, and a very good dialog option button. For the money I’m more than satisfied! Very good review well done my friend!
I bought a Vizio sound bar about a year ago and went out. It sounded wonderful. I wanted to try another one hoping it would last longer. It was my mistake. Vizio sound bar only $90.00. It blows me away. I had a $1,300.00 sound system but this Vizio sound bar sounds better. I not lying. The Vizio has very deep bass and highs. I don't know how but the sounds come sides and back! I am going to throw this lg away and buy a Vizio sound bar again!

It's a great little soundbar and I've noticed when connecting my Google 5 to it the settings menu on the phone shows it's able to support aac sound which is excellent for the price of this soundbar.
I have the soundbar connected to my computer via Bluetooth. But it keeps powering off after 10 minutes I don't have any sound playing. Is there a way to bypass this shutdown feature so I don't have to turn it on again with my remote control?
@TechSteve Thanks again for your help. After many attempts I called LG Customer support. They’re sending a guy out to repair my brand new Tv🤨. I connected the sound bar to another device and it works. So in conclusion it was the TV .

Did you hold down the Standard button as he mentioned at the beginning? You hold it for a couple of seconds, and when the TV first shuts down, it might take a minute or five for the sound bar to eventually turn off. After that first initial time, there will be a red light to indicate standby after that.

I have a LG r 42LM3400 3 D LCD TV bought a LG SK1 sound bar used the optical cable turned of the internal speakers as it does not have the option to set external speaker the cable is lit up from the tv power to bar opt set on remote and no sound tried the 3.5 as well no sound the only time the bar works if I use my cell and play spotify I am baffled I did everything to the letter from my tv manual and bar manual
The Bluetooth is not secured in this soud bar. Any one can access even if the led is white by connecting to it, it turns to blue ! That's why it's cheap !

This is the last step you can try before you have to call lg. Press settings / sound/ additional settings/ make sure all inputs are on pcm not bitstream. If built in app are having issues I’m lost for words
Ok I did all of this and still no sound. I used the optical cable. Selected the option for The Optical setting for the sound bar ... but still no connection to the tv. I connected my phone via Bluetooth that did work. I didn’t shell out $80 bucks for music to come out of my phone! Please help. Oh I have a LG Tv so this should have connected seamlessly. Thanks

Okay. So. I have never seen one of your videos before. I stumbled on this review while searching for reviews on the LG SK1 soundbar. You have a great name and sound like you may know what you are talking about as there are so many product pandering "reviewers" out there. But then I see the TV Audio demo and it saddened me. Someone who does not shut off any smoothing or pro-motion (or whatever LG calls them) settings causing so much frame interpolation causes me to question weather or not your opinion should have any value to me, or if I should move on to another review. And I think, if I can not trust your eye's, I can not trust your ears. Sorry my dude. Good luck to you.
This is not a easy to set up sound bar. I have new LG TV and this sound bar should be working in roughly 5-10 minutes. It is junk straight out of the box no matter who's video you watch.
This speaker would be ideal for 32" - 43" TVs. I'll give you a general ideal of the sound quality in the video.

I bought a Vizio sound bar about a year ago and went out. It sounded wonderful. I wanted to try another one hoping it would last longer. It was my mistake. Vizio sound bar only $90.00. You would need a PA mixer, it would be better to just by a new speaker before it’s not designed for that application. Sorry for your loss

Did you figure out how to solve this? My sharp tv doesn’t sync with the Soundbar with aux and when I use optic there is no sound
Some TVs have bitstream or pcm outputs. Sometimes you have to switch it in the audio menu

If you’re using optical that normally doesn’t show up until less you have a TV that has a connection wizard and a learning remote

Yes with a 3.5mm cable
with a newer motherboards, it comes equiped with optic channel, so you can eother use 3.5mm jack or fiber optics
