    I said it many times, Mace Windu being a master of, "Shatterpoint." Which means he can see different outcomes in situations like a fork in the road. That's why he said to Anakin, how he sensed something in him, ( meaning Anakin,) that was causing conflict so to stay out of it for his own good. As for Yoda, he's always put trust in the Masters on the council to follow the force, therefore bringing about the will of the force: I truly believe if Anakin Skywalker would had listen to master Mace Windu. Not only would Padme have lived but Anakin would have never fell to the dark side, and Palpatine dead by the hand of Windu.

    I think that Mace didn't fully trust/believe Anakin's report and, consequently, may not have reported what was happening to Yoda. Jedi, sith both effected the republic in positive and negative ways.
    And like the sith empire, and the emperial empire, the republic is destined to fall to its own corruptions. All the jedi did was slow the sickness, they could never cure it and any attempt to do so only made it worse later on.

Iron Mace doesn’t know, doesn’t care for, doesn’t have time for such frivolous activities. The three are perplexed as to why Master Windu would be so exuberant about a social call and to discuss taxes no less. But follow him anyway.)

    The Jedi Council was incredibly wary 😒 when it came to Palpatine. Too many times he intervened into Jedi affairs and it was very unnerving. They sensed a dark aura around Palpatine but wouldn’t believe he was the Sith Lord they were told about by Dooku. But instead believed he was being intimidated and manipulated.
    Mace sensed a plot to destroy the Jedi and most likely figured after what Anakin told him to move quickly after consulting Master Yoda first.
    The Jedi had became weaker in The Force. Yoda, Mace and Obi-Wan had a private meeting on this subject because they felt the sudden shift in The Force and couldn’t understand why.
    More than likely since the Jedi became weaker in The Force he figured they had to move quickly in numbers to take down Palpatine. But underestimated how much stronger he became with the Dark Side. And never suspected Anakin would betray him in an act of desperation.

    I think your mention of the earlier conversations between Yoda and Mace Windu in the novelization and the nature of who both are in the Force gives all the information needed to answer the question. I think the reason that the novelization makes no mention of dialogue in the holo-conversation is because, as you rightly I think pointed out, all the pretext that informed any conversation had already been covered previously in past conversation. Moreover, as arguably the two strongest Force-users in the Jedi Order, I think this belies the specific wording of the novelization where it says, "they were of one mind, so there was no need for further conversation." I think that it not only means the obvious, that their previous conversations left nothing to talk about because they'd already come to a conclusion about it, but it also implies that they were communicating telepathically through the Force and being connected by the Force, hence "being of one mind." Being so connected and communicating that way would naturally leave little room for verbal conversation, and that could very well be how Yoda gave him the go-ahead.

  • @Sandlund93
    @Sandlund93 Рік тому +1

    Not everything needs to be said. As Jedi, both Mace and Yoda knew where they stood with the Sith. And let´s remember that Windu´s team were already on their way to Palpatine´s office when Anakin approached them with further intel. So there really is no mystery, Yoda was already in on the operation. It just turned itself a bit more drastic and desperate when they learned the truth. But the mission was still to make sure that the chancellor relinquished his emergency powers. Mace even responds to the intel about Palpatine being a Sith Lord: "We must move quickly if the Jedi Order is to survive." No matter how patient Yoda may be, even he realized that. Or would have if he was informed, it would have been a pointless conversation. And Mace probably knew him better than anyone, he certainly knew that the time for action had come, there would be time for communication later. Yoda didn´t need to know, not until after the apprehension.
    Compare it to an agent in the field, they sometimes make decisions in the moment because time is of the essence, they do not communicate everything back to HQ as soon as they learn of it. It would be impractical as a standard operating procedure. And moving against the Sith is SOP for Jedi. Waiting for Yoda to get back from Kashyyyk, or even communicating the further intel to him, might have put them at an even greater disadvantage. They did not know about Order 66, nor did they fully grasp the power of Palpatine, they just knew that it was time to act. And it would have worked too if Anakin didn´t betray them at the last second. Which really came out of nowhere, since he was the one who brought the intel about Palpatine being a Sith Lord. Mace sensed some confusion in him, sure, but if he sensed betrayal or the dark side he would have apprehended Anakin first. It seems to me that Anakin didn´t turn until moments later and by that time Windu was already away. It´s not even certain that he sensed the dark side in Anakin as his arm was chopped off, if he had it would have been a duel like in the videogame and not a complete surprise betrayal. It was wartime and Mace didn´t trust Anakin but he obviously didn´t see that coming. Or the film would have had a different ending.

    It always ends up to culminating to or by one moment, one action or decision. Anakin should've taken a breather when Mace told him to stay out of it, he should've think or confide in someone.

    Yoda obviously knew it was Palpatine toward the end, so it's most likely that he actually did hear it from Mace. He probably would have joined in going after Palpatine if he had been close enough to do so, and between the two of them, it actually could have been enough to stop him. Mace being in such a hurry instead of waiting for Yoda was his biggest mistake, and that one decision was what really led to his dying, as he and Yoda each were not far from being strong enough to beat Sidious themselves. Logically, putting them in the same room would have been enough.

      What recordings? Surely, part of the operation was to delete all recordings of it. Maybe some Jedi managed to escape the temple during the chaos but they would only have their word and no proof. While being branded as traitors to the republic by its leader. Even Yoda and Obi-Wan had to fight their way into the temple and by that time all useful recordings were certainly gone. They found some of Anakin but him killing "traitors" doesn´t give them more than a confused public if they were gonna try the courts. The courts that Palpatine also controlled. But the message I get from watching the movie is that there were no "remaining Jedi". This has been retconned time and again because it´s easy to write it off as "ehh, somehow some Jedi got away safe" if you are Disney and want to capitalize on an interesting time period. I guess it has to do with me playing the Revenge of the Sith videogame too, as Anakin you are pretty much cleaning house in one of the levels. So I always assumed that nobody survived. The survivors would have been spread across the galaxy and probably just a couple of dozen or so. And Coruscant, where the supposed recordings might be, wasn´t safe for them at that point anymore.

      @@Sandlund93 But when Obi-Wan and Yoda got to the temple there were still hundreds of died children there. Also, not many people knew about operation nightfall and what really happened because palpatine told the story as the clones killing traitorous jedi. But if Obi-Wan and Yoda got picters of yongling being cut in half or shot in the back by clones, they chould take that evidence and display it all arcoss the Holo-Net for everyone to see. After everyone seeing that then poblic opinion might sway to the Jedi side and they could arrest palpatine for the unlawful murder for hundreds of children. But even with palpatine having control over the Senate the majority of people will be on the side of the jedi, and the there could be a rebelion before the empire even happened.

    The Jedi was already plotting a coup against the Chancellor. In fact, Mace was on his way to make sure the Chancellor give up his emergency powers. Even though the war hadn't ended. The fact Anakin told Mace the Chancellor was a sith lord. Just reinforce his opinion that the Jedi has to take over the Republic

    • @Sandlund93
      @Sandlund93 Рік тому +1

      Exactly, communicating with Yoda at that point would have been pointless. The operation to remove the Chancellor from office was already greenlit, even if Yoda didn´t like it. The truth about his identity only made the mission even more dire. I get that people think it would have been more strategic to wait, but you cannot defeat the enemy by planning him to death. Sooner or later you must decide to act. With the intel they had at the given time, there was no time no wait for Yoda to get back to Coruscant. For all they knew that might have put them at an even greater disadvantage. And Mace only changed the purpose of the mission on the go in response to Palpatine slaughtering the other Masters. After that display he realized that the only way to remove the Chancellor from office was to remove him from existence, just like Anakin pointed out when he brought the intel.
      The Jedi did not know that their actions would lead to their downfall, only the audience knows that. The risk of not acting is that you are always on the defensive. And they could not afford to anymore, not after essentially being ruled by their greatest enemy for more than a decade. After all, Palpatine controlled both the senate and the courts. He was too dangerous to be left alive.

    But in regards to Windu’s confidence…
    I agree 100 percent.
    Also with Sidious hiding his true power felt via the force. Mace Windu had absolutely no idea how truly powerful Sidious was. Mace being a confident warrior as he should be. But still cautious to some degree is the better way over believing your confidence regardless. This is true in everyday life. In everything we weak humans do. As important as being confident and being confident in your actions as you do them. Believing your own skill and smarts will make you prevail no matter what.
    I think yoda as well as Windu couldn’t tell how powerful the dark lord truly was. Giving Windu the go ahead. If Yoda truly knew his power, he would have never let him go and if Windu still did it would have been without Yoda’s blessing.

    Windu would have absolutely told Yoda or others. The order had been looking for this sith for ages. They knew he would be powerful. In the event he was killed trying to apprehend the sith it would only make sense to let others know so that the information wasn't lost. He wouldn't have just let Anakin be the only one with the information as he didn't fully trust him.
    I think, unfortunately the story outcome overrode the story details.
    This would be akin to one of the key CIA directors discovering that a nuke had been planted in DC by an enemy group. Not telling their own organization - that is actively trying to locate the device. and then trying to just deal with it themself with maybe a few of their buds....
    Unrealistic or complete incompetence on Windus part.

    um, no. all film novelizations are classified as canon, except in moments that contradict the film canon. this moment doesn't contradict it... it's canon.
    an example of this. Yoda being blue is a piece of non-canon from the ESB novelization....but since that novelization mostly supports the canon, than it's mostly canon. except in those unsupported moments, refer to the blue Yoda as an example of this....or in the ANH novelization. Luke missed with his first two proton torpedoes...so he had to pull up, loop back into the trench, and finally heeded Obi-Wan's words with his last two torpedoes...and pushed them in with the force...this moment, except for missing the first shot and having to loop back for a second shot is canon.
