You've inspired me to FINALLY start writing an idea I've had for a while...It's still in the planning phase but I'm hoping that, unlike my maaaany other projects, I don't just give up on it, because I've just gotten so attached for my characters at this point! I think “write what you wanna read” is more like “write the kind of stories you wish existed but don’t (or at least that you’ve never seen)”. Especially if they include underrepresented characters and such.

the first piece of advice was really helpful for me. I'm honestly sick of seeing "if it feels flat, kill a character" tiktoks because for awhile I DID feel pressured to kill off a character because every author was suggesting it. but now I've realized I love my characters and I dont want them/it doesn't make sense for them to die lol. if I come to place where I feel one should die, then that will be the time but not now
Kill Your Darlings is honestly more for removing scenes/plot lines that don't fit or directly contradict the plot than it is for killing characters though, and sometimes you do have to do that to better the book as a whole. But at the end of the day if you like what you've written and you don't want to delete it, it's your book! Keep that sucker in!

I'm have a problem, I just finished my first book and it's currently going through my editor (Who is my sister luckily/unluckily) And I know the beginning, middle and end for my second, but I'm having real trouble starting my second book do you or anyone have any advice? I have villain lines motivations everything, but I'm just really struggling.
