- Cinecon 48 in Hollywood opened with a surprise treat: Cathie and Nichole Nichlolas, granddaughters of Fayard Nicholas danced live as a film of the famed Nicholas Brothers played on the large screen. The legacy of the family continues on in these exceptional ladies of dance. They were there to offer tribute and say thank you to Cinecon who embraced Harold, Fayard and their family for many years. It was a surprise event that took place before the films began and many people were still arriving as it unfolded. For those who missed it and for those who want to see it again, we have placed it here for you to see. I love the Nicholas Brothers...have loved watching them as a lover of classic Hollywood movies! They are caprivating! So great to see their granddaughters keeping the dance going! Tap is the greatest!
Keep the legacy going girls! The Nichlolas Brothers are still remembered today! I love that your walking in their shoes. We need creative talent like this today. Too many girls are shaking their behinds and think thats talent. You gals bring beauty, good taste back to the dance floor as dancers and beautiful black girls with class. Love it. Looking to see more of you on television.

Cathie and Nichole, I thought you two were wonderful. I don't dance as much as I used to because I'm a bit old and broken down...(and fat LOL)...and I was never good enough to go pro but watching your Grandfather and Grand uncle dance was one of the inspirations that made me dare to take a tap class to begin with. I hope to see A LOT more of you both in the future. It's ladies like you who are keeping this art form alive. Keep going!!!

Got to see the brothers introduce the girls, with Donald O’Connor, at SF JazzFest in...gosh, musta been late ‘90s. They’ grew up, but they’re still wonderful dancers, still showing that Nicholas musicality and class. So beautiful, wonderful to watch!

I agree with you.. But applaud them for honoring their great grandfather and uncle. Below is a clip of the Nicholas Brothers recreating the dance in 1990 (55 years after the original performance in the movie). Their natural talent remains unsurpassed.

Yes. True comment and nicely put. I am glad they honored them though. But no they are not in the same league as their great grandfather and great uncle. Talent like that is hard to emulate (and is not necessarily hereditary).
