you're right, it is such a personal song. Actually, they once said that their songs are actually their story. And i think it's true:
GO UP- is talking about their mindset when they were struggling to penetrate the music scene
WHAT- talks about how they should proudly face the world
BAZINGA- dedicated to the people who doubted them
MANA- how they should stay grounded despite their success
IKAKO- dedicated for all frontliners during the pandemic

@9:26 Yes you are right. This is a very personal song as this is based off of their personal feelings, dreams and aspirations. This is actually their redemption song. They agreed to disband if this one last song won’t work out. After the mv release, nothing still happened until a month later when they released the dance practice video and someone re-tweeted them and they became viral. And the rest is history.
At this point in their career, the only contributions they have in the song creation are the writing of the lyrics and adding some tweaks on the melodies. The producer is Korean who was actually shocked at how talented they are. Their first album is produced by Korean producers although Pablo writes the lyrics, Stell creates the choreography and Justin the brains behind some MV. It was during their 2nd album that they were given full creative control of their music and artistry. I believe it was out of necessity as well since during the pandemic apparently their Korean bosses went back to Korea and they were left with uncertainty about their music and career. That is when Pablo decided to step up and pushed for the group to produce and make their own music and to release songs which are created by Filipinos to show who they really are, their identity as a group and what they are capable of. That is why their 2nd album is very different from their 1st one. The latter (1st album) was decided for them by the company while the 2nd album is something they created and decided amongst themselves.
I think it’s safe to assume that their Korean bosses were impressed with what SB19 has created on their own so they rest their case and just trusted the boys in taking control over their music. There are some video clips where the president of the company was very proud on the release of the new single.
They do have very interesting backstories. I suggest you watch their Tonitalks interview to get to know them a little bit more.

There’s an interview with SB19 on Toni Talks with English sub. You can learn more of their stories and humble beginnings and the struggles they had while they were still starting their career. I admire their determination and for not giving up.
SB19'S songs in their first album were produced/melodically composed by a South Korean producer and some were even recorded in South Korea. This includes Go Up and other earlier songs like Love Goes, Tilaluha, Hanggang sa Huli, Alab. Nonetheless, Pablo was mainly responsible for putting in the Tagalog/English lyrics in all these songs . Inevitably, there was the KPop vibe in the sound of the songs which appealed to local fans who were fascinated to hear what sounded like KPop but in Tagalog. Some of the MVs were even South Korean-inspired. However, this also confused the boys' image to being KPop wannabes. In contrast, the songs in their 2nd album "Pagsibol" (Tagalog for "Sprout/Sprouting of seed") were both melodically and lyrically composed by Pablo and the "What" era sort of reintroduced the boys on who they really are - the flag carrier of Pinoy Pop or PPop. The boys were fully hands on in the production of the songs including the MVs. Thus, What, Bazinga, Mana, Mapa, SLMT, Ikako sealed the SB19's Filipino Pop sound. With their seed planted and their sound established, they are now ready to spread their wings to the world. Thus, their next EP "Pagtatag" (Tagalog for "Establish") which include WYAT and Nyebe include songs that appeal more to a wider audience.
This was the song that saved SB19. Thank you so much.

Thank you for another great reaction to SB19! This is supposed to be their last single but it turned out to be their redemption song. The amount of hate and criticism the boys get during their early days… makes my heart hurt. From less than 10 viewers to thousands of audience now. SB19 paved the way for PPOP!
that super low budget MV that even penniless people can make and now doing their own world tour. they made it this far without much support and they are just getting started. they just proved that with passion and persevere you can do anything.

The most in-depth interview SB19 had was done by their friends, a music band called the Juans, and the interview was done during a podcast and is in two parts. It’s called “KuwentoJuan” episodes 5 and 6. It’s pretty long but it’s worth it. Otherwise, the interviews by The Korea Times or Toni Talks are shorter but worth watching, too. Cashual Chuck also has a partly completed series of documentaries on the story of each member which are very enlightening, too. I think Justin’s is not yet out, though… (?)

You were so right! This song is very personal for them. In every concert this song will always have a special hype! Love the lyrics here more than the music. If you got time you can check their other UA-cam Fanfest performance of "Love Goes" and "Go Up" It's cool and "Love Goes" is an English track. Also the acoustic version of "Love Goes" in their concert is worth a listen (with Pablo playing the guitar)

Not homeless but because Ken is originally from a faraway island, he lived with his uncle's family while training. Later on, to avoid being late because of the distance and the hectic traffic (he mostly rode public transportation) he lived in the company's studio.

Cashual Chuck's vids are very entertaining about how he made it's videos so good with the editing is on to another level so hoping that you'll watch some of it and enjoy.

This song is very special. The group was about to give until the practice video of this song went viral. Prior that, they were doing live with only 10 people watching them. They did their own makeup, borrowed and repeated each other's clothes for their performances, and so on. They were also ridiculed by many. Glad they did not give up.

Recognizing that paucity of tools and resources shouldn’t stop one from pushing through doing what they love is a summarized description of SB19’s journey. Their songs are relatable because each is personal and a part of their experience. Each tells a story. I would love to see the day you will chat with the boys, ask your questions and know them in-depth.
You can check out Toni talks interview and Cashual Chuck's story of SB19 with 4 episodes if I'm not mistaken. It's the story and the personalities that made me a fan of them. After watching these videos I understood why people love them so much and why they deserve everything.

Thanks for this.... I think the best interview to watch is KuwentoJuan Episodes 5 & 6 ( on the podcast of The Juans). That's their stories before they became SB19. The Juans is also a band, the members are considered SB19's best friends in the music industry. They have a lot of Collab projects under TM. Both bands are brand ambassadors of TM, a cellphone network.
I became a fan through their guestings in KwentoJuan and Tonitalks.
