This is my first Hustler. I'll be honest I was not leaning towards the brand. I was doing a lot of research on Toro and Gravely. When I heard the name Hustler I think of the old school nudie magazine. My local dealer is a full service Kubota, Hustler, Cub Cadet dealer I figured Hustler has to be better than Cub and I can't afford the Kubota's LOL and the Fastrak had everything I was looking for in a mower. So I pulled the trigger.
Stay away from cub cadets they are garbage I'm a big fan of toro and hustler. I was looking at a toro titan max limited edition all black 60in for 75oo and the fast track is 8100
I have a FasTrak 54 I bought new in 2013. It’s been a great mowing machine. Had to have the right hydro fan pulley replaced at 350 hrs…got noisy…$120 and that’s it. I have the 2 bag system for fall,leaves and it works great. Hustler is a great brand. Btw, paid $5600 in 2013 for the mower and $1600 for the bagger system. I see the 2023 is about $8500 plus $2000 for the bagger….yikes!
I just bought a new Hustler Fas Trac and it's identical to the one you have ,with the 60 inch deck and Kawasaki motor, I immediately took the roll bar off because I don't mow on any grades where I could roll over and I have seen several guys who commercially mow catch the roll bar on a tree branch and guide wires and almost flip the mower, so have always removed the roll bar immediately , I also took the plastic discharge chute off be a use it's ugly and just takes up space, I replaced it with a home made chute blocker made if 1/8 inch steel that I can flip down when close to a house or building or open to where it just throws debris away from the mower, I like the suspension seat and extra gas tank and think that's a great improvement, the kawasaki motor seems to do well on fuel mileage and the engines seem very reliable, The only thing I would like to see hustler do is maybe put the Heavier Duty FX kawasaki motor on these mowers instead of the current motor and that would be a nice upgrade that other mower manufacturers offer as standard.
My roll bar/sunshade hits just a couple of small branches on the side of my yard but not too bad. My mower came with an extra Nylock nut that was sitting on the back of the foot pan. You can see it in the video and I didn't notice it until after I made this video. I could not find what it came from. I could tell that the nylon insert did have thread damage as if it was used at least once. Maybe it came from the pallet that the mower came in. You can see it best at 2:15 just under the "K" in fastrak.
Check your fastrak sticker above your deck below your seat. Is it half ass stuck to the textured bed liner steel? Also let me know what sunshade you end up with. I could use one on my 22 model as well. Check out the "Grass Flap" for this mower. It is a foot operated chute blocker and it's worth it's weight in gold, working with them now to make a no drill adapter plate.
The fastrak sticker seems attached ok. I'm not going to really try to peel at it. I will be keeping an eye on it and trying to avoid it with any water spray now that you warned me about it. Check out the pinned comment for the link to my sunshade video. It is custom made and works well and easily removable. Grass flap would be cool especially for mulching. I think next mod will be flex forks but I drained my bank account too much for anything right now. LOL.
@@Bendc1970A1 I also had a problem with my rear tires being out of round pretty badly, causing the mower to bounce going done the road. Any issues with that? The canopy cover looks nice. I'm going to try and fabricate something that uses factory holes and u-bolts so I don't have to drill anything. Thinking a thin 26 gauge sheet metal top with crimped corners for strength and some hollow square tubing for support. But I won't be able to do any of that for a couple of months. I'm in the process of ordering my new workshop so I can have a big enough place to work on things again lol. You seem pretty crafty yourself.
I was looking at 2017 model of this mower for $5,495 and I though it was kind of high, the guy in the dealer told me they change blades and belts. Can you tell me please how much you paid for this new 2022?
The only difference I noticed was the slightly better transmissions. And the 3200 tranny's were already so much better than the other mowers I was looking at. Plus the Regular Fastrak was already way overkill for my 2 acres.
@@Bendc1970A1 the regular Fastrak would be all I need too. I decided to go with the SDX though. Mainly because of the FX series engine with the 2-stage canister air filter system, and the back of the seat is higher, compared to the regular Fastrak. The Hydro Gear ZT 3400 transmissions played in a factor also. I’m cutting about 3 acres.
@Bendc1970A1 Awesome, I heard that the plastic ones leaked, they did on my scag that's for sure, nice to know that hustler installs them on the higher end models. I'm thinking about pulling a trigger on one tomorrow.
I researched Toro/Exmark, Ferris/Simplicity, and Gravely. I have a gravely dealer nearby but they were a little pricey and the mower I wanted was not in stock with no indication of when it would be. The Hustler dealer was very close to my house and is a full service dealer and they had 3 of the exact model I was looking for. I've heard a lot of good things about the scag I think I would have spent about $1000 more for a comparable model.
Spartan takes a big massive dump on every other brand in the industry besides scag cheetah best mower in the world but espicially a hustler?? They have like 11guage decks. That make for way more weed whacking and have the smallest front tires I've ever seen lol buddy a tire hitting a pot hole all spartans have 7 guage deck and 13/6.50/6 front tires unless u get the must expensive crazy badass one it cuts going, 15 and stock with front and rear tweelz !, Same price hustleds super x🤣 oh yeah keyless start stop,,40hp efi with oil guard lol and 5 layers of suspension,,,!

I’ve got a 42”FasTrak I bought in 2005 with a Honda engine. Still runs great , I will definitely go Hustler again when mine bites the dust .
Mine is the same but a 52 inch that I bought second hand. The thing has been beat to hell but I love and it’s a work horse.
Just bought the 54" SDX version. Loving it!

I have the Hustler Xd 54" but I'm considering trading it in to get the Fastrak54. I'm hoping it's a worthwhile upgrade.
Not bad. I like the 60 inch deck. I bought a 54 inch model. Paid 7916.00 . Out the door. My tralor won't hold a 60.inch mower.
Fixing to trade in my 2021 Fastrak 48 to a new 2022 Fastrak SDX 60 at my local dealer if we can get right on price.

8399 plus tax. A lot of money but not a bad deal compared to other models with the same features.

I have left it stock. Except attaching a string to it to be able to pull it up when I drive it into the shed.

Still happy with it ? I would like to upgrade from my 54in FT.
It's great. I'm not really putting the hours on it to really give it a proper stress test but I'm still glad I bought it.
@@Bendc1970A1 I cut about 5 acres with some hilly and rough ground. I have also looked at the Bad Boy Maverick HDs.
hows it holding up? also, your oil drain, did they use the metal one or the plastic one?
Running good still. Oil drain is a metal spigot valve type of thing that works good.
