My heart hurt when you said you might take the drawers n scrap the rest. I hope you don't. I grew up watching my family using hand crank and foot peddle sewing machines. My mom had the best Singer with knee/ leg bar sewing machine. I favor older Kenmoress today. If I had a good old Singer I would die happy❤ BTW I'm from AK and wait each week for your next video. Way to go💯🤩😍
I got a treadle machine base from my neighbor when she moved. She had converted it to a table by adding a sheet of glass on top of it. It's one of my favorite pieces.
Use the metal sewing machine treadle bottom as an out door table. We took the wood off and added a big metal floor grate to the top to make a outdoor patio side table. It has weathered ten Minnesota winters and still going strong.
I found a metal Or iron top to put on mine. It's in my flower garden as a plant stand. Been there for many years. Talking about the sewing machine frame.
Completely agree with so many other comments that scrapping the base of the Singer treadle base is a mistake, great table base. You could sell it instead of scrapping it if you don't want to deal with it.
Envy big eyes, real love embroidered linens! That bird cage and the clocks made my heart sign with possibilities, Jami’s eyes were shining, blessed days!
Oh wow! You found some really great treasures, all those beautiful linens, so good. I have a sewing table like that, I use it as my garden/potting table, the little drawers hold seed packets well
Zeb can make a table top for that Singer base. They go for decent money where I live. Or you can scrap it on my front porch!! I sold the ones I had almost 10 years ago for way too little $$.
The singer metal base is great to put an old suitcase, old trunk or a nice piece of wood etc..they make awesome side tables! And if you just don’t have the energy to do it, there’s somebody I bet that would love it for a project piece for themselves.😊 You could definitely put it in your shop and sell it, probably pretty quick.😁🥰🫶🏼
I just found you guys... where have I been? Lol! I instantly loved your personalities and creativity, but when Zeb took the time to find and save every part of that amazing cookbook, I paused the video to subscribe. Yaaay, I will definitely be recommending your channel! oxo
Hi Jami and Zeb - I’ve been watching your channel for years and love your thrifting videos, make overs and your wonderful personalities and family values! ❤❤❤❤
Really like the embroidered pillow cases and linens. The wire, 3 basket item with a handle - I have one that I put live plants in with small clear plastic saucers and it sits on top of my refrigerator. Fun video.
I about cried when I saw the condition of the White House cookbook. I searched for years for an as close to original printing of it. I finally found a 1900 copyright, original is 1887. Binding still tight, the pages have the patina like Zeb's. Someone pasted recipes on the inside cover, and there are a few handwritten ones. A treasure for sure!
Hey you two, what a great day. Those long skinny afghan looking things, I’m pretty sure are prayer shawls. A lot of church ladies make them for the churches to give out when people are sick and down. They have a good purpose! Love the giant pumpkin! Can’t wait to see what Zeb is going to do with the books. I make altered books so I’m very interested!❤
Your videos are very nice to watch. The introduction, music and talk to us about what you are doing is very professional. Peaceful, educational and interesting. ❤❤❤
My favorite finds of today were the big pots and the fall colored afghan. Oh, and the White House cookbook is really cool, I’m glad you dug for the rest of it.
The sides of the sewing machine would be great architecture pieces and you could leave them as is or paint them also. Every piece is usable if you piece it out.
I actually have a copy of the White House Cookbook. My grandmother gave it to me.....and she had it from her mother-in-law, whose maiden name was Cleveland. Apparently, my grandfather was related to Grover Cleveland....your 22nd & 24th president. If the page isn't missing in your copy, you can find the First Lady, Frances Folsom Cleveland's portrait between page 80 & 81. Great find!.....anxious to see what you do with it! Thankfully, my copy is still in good shape and is a fascinating read.
I actually used that Gregg Shorthand book to learn shorthand in high school. I recently found on at a thrift store as well. I picked it up to see if I can recall how to do it.
Ok, I have to say, I left SLC July of 2012 & I don't remember Goodwill the when I lived there. Only others were thrift town on 1300 E &33rd S (Millcreek area), and the savers on 72nd & state, and one in Sandy.
I was wondering about this piece too. I wonder if it was marked on the bottom? It looks like an actual flower frog attached with the holes. I think with possibly live plant stems or even pine that would be intriguing to some buyers.
I'm eager to see what is made with all the books! I'm glad Zeb dug and found the full cook book! That may be my favorite thing this time! You did get a bunch of great linens and such today as well!
I’m loving everything that you got. I even loved some of the items you decided against picking up. I know that you have to buy what will sell. My problem is that I tend to just buy everything. Haha.
O my goodness the bass of the sewing machine would go for big money here in Sweden people repurposed them all the time both for indoors and outdoors. I have mine outside with a lovely marble top on it.❤
How do you decide which store to start at? I wish there was a Bins near me. The closest is about 45 minutes away. I love all the old books Zeb finds. I like to use them as risers on my shelves. I found 2 at a good price last week at 2 different antique malls.
People use the sewing base for tables. I bought a full cabinet and machine, had it for a while and then sold it it at a profit. But now people love the base. Don't scrap it. Remake it. 😊
don’t scrap the base of sewing machine. the bottom makes a great base for table / work bench. hi from australia
Was just going to say that! I have one topped with a beautiful piece of marble by the guest bed!
Yes! I’m in Australia too and thought the exact same thing. They are lovely upcycled. 👍🏽
Maybe that's an Australian thing because l am from Aus and l have upcycled a base and use it as a garden table.
Yes! I have a side table with a sewing machine base and also one in my bathroom as a vanity. They are so beautiful.....don't scrap it!
My heart hurt when you said you might take the drawers n scrap the rest. I hope you don't. I grew up watching my family using hand crank and foot peddle sewing machines. I have seen awesome tables and plant stands made from the iron of old sewing machine cabinets. You could even use the original wood.
Don’t scrap the iron on the treadle. Put a pretty piece of wood on the top and it becomes a desk. I have sold them as desks.
Use the metal sewing machine treadle bottom as an out door table. We took the wood off and added a big metal floor grate to the top to make a outdoor patio side table. It has weathered ten Minnesota winters and still going strong.
I saw someone use the sides of a bunch of old cast iron sewing machine bottoms as banisters. It was really pretty and unique.
Lots of beautiful linens today very cottage inspiration.
The White House Cookbook would be pretty with a bow tied around it. I LOVE the fall afghan!

That painting about poppies and poppy trees is typical of Italy and where I live that is seen every spring.
The little etched glass jar with spout is a Princess House piece. It is a jam jar and originally came with a little glass spoon
I had the pink rose stationary when I was in junior high. Wow brings back memories.
Oh wow! You found some really great treasures, all those beautiful linens, so good. I have a sewing table like that, I use it as my garden/potting table, the little drawers hold seed packets well
I've seen a cool baluster made from several metal sewing machine panels. That would look cool at your shop!
Zeb can make a table top for that Singer base. They go for decent money where I live.
Or you can scrap it on my front porch!!
I sold the ones I had almost 10 years ago for way too little $$.

The drawers and the base of the sewing machine case are good. I’m always seeing tables made using the iron base.
I just found you guys... where have I been? Lol! I instantly loved your personalities and creativity, but when Zeb took the time to find and save every part of that amazing cookbook, I paused the video to subscribe. Yaaay, I will definitely be recommending your channel! oxo
Hehe, you’ve got 9 years of binge watching to catch up on if you get bored lol
The White House cookbook looks amazing! I’m so proud of Zeb for saving it. I love this channel.
Awww thanks we love you!
Repaint the bottom, especially since this one says Singer. Have Zeb put a top on it and it makes for a great side table. I’ve made one for myself.
Paint would cover the crack in the cow head. It's kind of cute 🥰😊
I agree, where I am in Canada, people love the iron Singer bases. I have one, found some lovely reclaimed wood, and made a side table.
Hi Jami and Zeb - I’ve been watching your channel for years and love your thrifting videos, make overs and your wonderful personalities and family values!

Yep that is what we do here downunder .. refresh the base with black paint and put wood on the top you could have a desk, table or hall console.

At a flea market this weekend some bought 3 set of the iron bases from the old singer sewing machines.
My favorite finds of today were the big pots and the fall colored afghan. Oh, and the White House cookbook is really cool, I’m glad you dug for the rest of it.
Don’t you just love when the bins are bountiful? So many beautiful linens.
The small Cristal jar with the lid is "Princess House" it's missing a tiny spoon. I have one just like it 😊

I took Gregg shorthand in high school! Came in handy in college!!
ZEB- I am so intrigued by your book project! I've heard you talking about it for awhile. Can't wait for the video
You found some beautiful embroidered pieces, enjoyed thrifting with you!
The sides of the sewing machine would be great architecture pieces and you could leave them as is or paint them also. Every piece is usable if you piece it out.
such a good haul this week!! Everything is so pretty laid out!
You guys are SO lucky to have the Deseret stores…we have very few decent thrifting places here in NW Florida
If you put a new top on the singer base they make great garden tables. Really popular in the uk. They look fab

🎃 SO JEALOUS OF THE GINORMOUS PUMPKIN BUCKET!!!
The bucket is from Walmart..but new they sell for 8.97. Jamie got a good deal 😊
We had that shorthand book! My Mom and my sisters all could do shorthand!!
Wow, that is a lot of treasures!
Those singer machines stand are really beautiful after you refinish them as entry tables.
I have one of those sewing machine bases. I've used it as an entry table, tv stand, kitchen island, and a microwave stand. Don't trash it!!
Hope we see the project soon!! Lov from South Africa 🇿🇦 🇿🇦 🇿🇦
I am so happy you found all the pages of the old cookbook!
I actually used that Gregg Shorthand book to learn shorthand in high school. I recently found on at a thrift store as well. I picked it up to see if I can recall how to do it.
That fold up brass frame……I can’t tell you how many I got rid of in the 2000s……that’s so funny “what goes around comes around”!
Ok, I have to say, I left SLC July of 2012 & I don't remember Goodwill the when I lived there. Only others were thrift town on 1300 E &33rd S (Millcreek area), and the savers on 72nd & state, and one in Sandy.
I would totally buy that Singer base turned into a table for my room, it would be so cute.
The Santa w/ the holes: ❤️.
I was wondering about this piece too. I wonder if it was marked on the bottom? It looks like an actual flower frog attached with the holes. I think with possibly live plant stems or even pine that would be intriguing to some buyers.
@@jennfindsvintage yes! Flower frog is exactly what I was thinking!!
I love old books. a love I have passed on to my son who have no shelf control. when we go on holiday I play tetris to make it all fit.
I'm eager to see what is made with all the books! I'm glad Zeb dug and found the full cook book! That may be my favorite thing this time! You did get a bunch of great linens and such today as well!
You can make a table out of the base of treddlel,
I’m loving everything that you got. I even loved some of the items you decided against picking up. I know that you have to buy what will sell. My problem is that I tend to just buy everything. Haha.

Love the poppies!
Wow you knocked it out of the park this week!
O my goodness the bass of the sewing machine would go for big money here in Sweden people repurposed them all the time both for indoors and outdoors. I have mine outside with a lovely marble top on it.❤

Lots of great items today! Extra wow!
Jackpot!
that little "creamer" is a princess house item.... I had a couple of them years ago.
My Gregg shorthand book from 1963.
Great haul this week!
Make a table out of the sewing machine legs. They self well in SW Ga.
I have the base of the sewing machine and put a board on it and decoupaged it.
Jeb i would be making a bedroom night stand out of cast iron from the sewing machine cabinet.
The Santa looks like a tooth brush holder!
I’m here for the thrift and here for Zeb’s comments “complimentary dirt” 😂
My Sister was a Shorthand WHIZ❗😉
Can't believe Zeb didn't rummage through the pile of clocks, especially the big metal one with the rope! 1:55
When your vehicle is full and if you buy something that won't fit DI will hold for you to come back, I have done this a time or two.
Haha true
Dont scarp the iron! They make awesome tables!
I think the thing with the 2 weights on rope and you said it needed tightening. Well is it a book holder and the rope things are page markers?
The Santa was actually a tooth brush holder. 😊
How do you decide which store to start at? I wish there was a Bins near me. The closest is about 45 minutes away. I love all the old books Zeb finds. I like to use them as risers on my shelves. I found 2 at a good price last week at 2 different antique malls.
I was waiting up for this
You picked up the 2nd bird but left the corbels sitting next to it!
People use the sewing base for tables. I bought a full cabinet and machine, had it for a while and then sold it it at a profit. But now people love the base. Don't scrap it. Remake it. 😊
