What's so cool to see is that it sat for twenty plus years in all weather and a little bit of work and it's back to running!. Just a true testament to the long lasting craftsmanship of yesterday's geniuses that really built things that can run forever with a little care of course!. ...because you dont simply understand the feeling of a motor mechanic waiting for that "redondo"or that bragging brrooommmm after fixing specially those old motorcycles that is a sound of joy .. only an old motorcycle buff can love that..u commoners juz stick on tht grass cutter for the rest of ur life... u juz dont simply know how to repair old motorcycles thats y u dont give a damn on thr effort to ressurect such masterpiece of the past ..lick ur lawnmower after every use because ur saliva will lubricate that piece of grass cutter ...!!!

I think you missed understood that I even get excited when my lawnmower starts up.... meaning that old motorcycles, cars, engines that have been dormant for years gives me joy and excitement to hear the rumble of life come back to it..... even in lawnmowers.
I've been working in lawnmower shops on and off since 1968, and I still work part time. All the mowers I service start first pull every time when I have finished with them. I do get a buzz when someone brings in an old machine that's been sitting in a corner neglected for 5 years - and it still starts first pull when I have finished with it!

My newest motorcycle is a 1974 BMW R75/5, and I don't call that old. Yes, I know that the /5 series was replaced by the /6 in 1973, but 1974 was when my bike was first registered here.

The Shovel Chop just before the R100 isn't a "very old" bike either.
Just be sure to park the Beemer on a hill. I had an old Honda Civic, one of the tiny ones, that had a bad starter. I had to push start it.
i owned a 1954 BMW. in Germany i shipped it State side. Rode it for years. Best riding motorcycle i ever owned. I was in Germany i speak German and i would go to the Pubs where the Germans sat around drinking Beer and telling old story's. i would talk to them about motor cycles. One day i was sitting in a pub by myself and a German came up to my table and ask me if i was the man looking for motorcycles i said yes. He said come with me i want to show you a Motorcycle. We went to his place and opened a garage door. In it was a motorcycle with a tarp over it. He took off the tarp and there was a brand new 1944 500cc BMW only had 150 miles on it. His son bought it rode it for a week and went to war and was killed. His wife didn't want to sell it so they kept until she died. Then he met me. He said i want $20 American Dollars for it. In 1944 they only made 500cc motorcycles. I bought it and my best friend wanted it so i sold it to him for 300 dollars.

Black BMW probably later model R600 with “earls” front forks. Earlier model had “tele” forks like most bikes today. Don’t know why they were push starting as sweetest and easiest engine to start, but to be fair unless on its stand the outward swinging kick starter took a little getting used to.
I took my motorcycle driver license, lessons and exam in a 1952 or 53 BMW 350 single cylinder, with the side kick. Memory is a bit fuzz, since it was "sometime" ago. But I do recall the lack of decent maintenance made it a pig to start. Being in the peak of Winter didn´t help either. Some 90% of the lessons where under rain, wet to the bones. LOL :-)
A friend used similar motorbike, but one that add proper maintenance, clean carb, etc. it always started on the first kick. ;-)

Some explanations of the bikes would have been helpful.
There were only 1 or 2 very old motorcycles.
ir at 2.05 you sprayed starting fluid in the carb of the 2 stroke you killed the rings because ether and starting fluid dissolves oil.
Thanks for letting know. I drive 2strokes ( mainly mz and jawa) for 35 years and didn't know.....

The red one is definitely a Jawa motorcycle, it's a Czech brand. They're known for their twin silencers for single cylinder engines, and the gear lever which doubles as the kickstart, and also having an in-built auto clutch. Pretty neat motorcycle!

@DBMX not only is starting fluid only 25% ether with the majority being a lubricant, your statement about ALL 2 strokes running premix is incorrect as well because Oil Injection is very common on 2 stroke motorcycles and works great.
