ℹ About ℹ
Mortal Kombat is an arcade fighting game developed and published by Midway in 1992. It is the first entry in the Mortal Kombat series and subsequently was released by Acclaim Entertainment for nearly every home platform of the time. The game focuses on several characters of various intentions who enter a martial arts tournament with worldly consequences. It introduced many key aspects of the Mortal Kombat series, including the unique five-button control scheme and gory finishing moves called Fatalities.
Mortal Kombat is considered one of the greatest video games of all time by critics and audiences in 21st century and became a best-selling game and remains one of the most popular fighting games in the genre's history, spawning numerous sequels and spin-offs over the following years and decades, beginning with Mortal Kombat II in 1993, and together with the first sequel was the subject of a successful film adaptation in 1995. However, it also sparked much controversy for its depiction of extreme violence and gore using realistic digitized graphics, and, along with the home release of Night Trap, prompted the formation of the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), a U.S. government-backed organization that set descriptor ratings for video games.
ℹ Gameplay ℹ
Mortal Kombat is a fighting game in which players battle opponents in one-on-one matches. The fighter that completely drains the opponent's health bar first wins the round, and the first to win two rounds wins the match. Each round is timed; if both fighters still have health remaining when time runs out, the one with more health wins the round. Two players can start a game together, or a second player can join in during a single player's game to fight against them. If a game was in progress at the time, the winner continues it alone; if not, the winner begins a new game.
In the single-player game, the player faces each of the seven playable characters in a series of one-on-one matches against computer-controlled opponents, ending in a "Mirror Match" against a duplicate of the player's chosen character. The player must then fight in three endurance matches, each of which involves two opponents. As soon as the player defeats the first opponent, the second one enters the arena and the timer resets; however, the player's health meter does not regenerate. After the third endurance match, the player fights the sub-boss Goro, followed by a final match against Shang Tsung.

Thank you all for watching 👍 - Ігри
Wow, I had no idea the MK dos was this clean! Who knew? I think the Sega CD one was perfect except for the load times on Shang Tsung, but this obviously doesn't have that! Something about playing DOS games takes me back to when i was just 7 years old in 1994 and first started playing PC games via floppy disks lmao. I think I was born in 1 of the last years where I got to properly enjoy every generation of gaming from 8 bit and beyond
Good old times 🙂 thx for visit and support 👍 And yes, also DOS versions showed back in the days, that PC was always the best gaming platform.
@@OldNerdPlayingOldPCGames No prob, I like your channel!
The DOS version was so legit 💪🏻
If I didn't know any better, I'd swear this was the original arcade game. This looks like a flawless port! I can only imagine how sweet it must've been to have this at home compared to the console ports.
Classic Mortal Kombat in the 90's was a huge deal! I'm glad that it's still around.
Indeed. Thx fo visit & support 👍
2:55 perfect uppercut
Thanks
Yo it's the guy who makes unnamed videos
Cage now: Funny Hollywood star
Cage then: Some dude in his boxer shorts
A classic fighting death match is really unmatched, fight for your very existence to stay alive
What a classic, and the amount of quarters I spent at the arcade. Awesome upload, Old Nerd, have a great day.
Been looking for a longplay, thanks for making one
never played this on dos...i always played the arcade version...but this is impressive
Used to play this at the local kebab shop was open in the day for us kids at high school as the machine made more than the food did. We used to spend all our dinner money on it. 20p a go 6 for £1
There was never a game that made u go holy shyt after seeing a fatality for the first time..
Coming from street fighter to playing mk was epic n the 90s
Glad to hear that. The 90s were epic, indeed. Thx for watching & feedback 👍
WOW this was unexpected OLD MAN! good job!
Interesting! Some of the sound FX are a little different than the Arcade version. Especially the blood spatter hitting the ground. Awesome quality upload, thanks! Greatest vid game of all time.
Yeah, there are few differences. Thanks for watching & feedback, glad you enjoyed 🫡
Graphics still look amaizng. What a game...entire childhood
Yeah, its still great, and even after all these years, it still handles well. I enjoyed the gameplay, and it wasn't easy tbh 😀 Thanks for visit 👍
Literal, fue grabado con personas reales :))
Happy Monday Have An Awesome Week 🔥

Never noticed the kite flying in front of the moon 17:57
Lol. Same here 😀 Thx for visit & feedback 👍
Bro im 11 and i really wanna play this It looks really fun ive been playing the newer mks and ive never played any of the old old ones great video
I am very happy about that. In the 5 years of this channel's existence, I have never received such feedback. It seems like young people have no interest in gaming history or PC gaming in general, most of them apparently only play mobile scrap, so much respect to you 🫡
Two thumbs up my friend! 😎👍👍
Great upload like
Awesome video dude. I love classic mk
Thanks for the visit. I'm glad you enjoyed my older stuff 👍🙂
Big like 👍 old games
Sub zero ah. Nice one my top 3 in fav order are 1/ rayden 2/sub zero 3/ scorpion .
You got that fatality down to nice one
GG sub zero haha
i just played the arcade version for the first time last night. i haven't played MK in years so i had to get used to it a bit, but it was really fun
Glad to hear that 🙂 Thx for visit & feedback 👍
I actually like the sounds better on here then the new one
WOW a rare good Arcade to DOS port. Also nice going at the end there. Goro was where i always died in the arcade.
Tbh it took me ages to finally beat the whole tower 😃
@@OldNerdPlayingOldPCGames I can image, eheheheh.
His attacks are absolutely brutal. They can never really seem to get it right on the remakes.
That 8th fight when u only had one hit left before it was over and u dodged every shot from Sonya lolol 🔥 Great upload ,classic early 90s arcade game
I was lucky AF 😀 Thanks for support 👍
Simply amazing, awesome gameplay. Liked 10
i remember playing this on my SEGA genesis back in the day!!! sub-zero always kicked my butt!!!
very cool watch! Had hoped for more variety in fatalities but it is tough enough like that :)
Sadly, in first MK there was just one fatality per character 🙂 So I couldn't made more. Thx for support 👍
@@OldNerdPlayingOldPCGames Oh, I didn't know that. I casually played these games and never was good, tekken is what got me into beat 'em ups! :)
If you had the right soundcard, the DOS version of MK1, 2, and 3 are by far the best ports. MK Trilogy too.
Excellent Liked 👍 great classic game of Mortal Kombat
Great video keep it up😁
Nice clear! This is surprisingly a great version of Mortal Kombat ^-^
Nice to see what Probe could do with good hardware.
Damn playing mortal kombat. Awesome!
Very good video and like 👍🏻
Brings back memories 😄
Amazing video keep it up
Scorpion: get over here
Incredible port to pc. Almost arcade perfect, except for slightly smaller sprites.
Thx for watching 👍 Tbh, it's probably my fault because I uploaded the video in the original 16:10 aspect ratio , but it was actually shown in a stretched 4:3 ratio in those days.
I used to smack every button on the arcade, never knew what did what.
I got the dos version from gog galaxy today plays nice
Great video keep it up
Thanks 🙂
Came by to Show some Luv & Support. Subbed and Liked! Keep up the Great Work Buddy!

Much appreciated
Awesome content my friend keep up!!! :-) :-) Big Like!!! :-)
Nice anybody besides scropion
I like this one
Goodplay man! The pc version seems to have a faster gameplay compared to the arcade, i tried emulating with mame and buying the arcade kollection but they feel slower than pc version, idk why
Thanks.
In DosBox you can set the CPU cycles to max, so it will never slow down the game. I think the arcade emulator just doesn't allow to set the cycles so it runs on default configuration.
Thx for the explanation
😊💕💖😊💕
A Probe port that isn’t crap
Magnifical version DOS SEGA; i don't play never againt Reptile in this version. Once Second Endurance up level the complication grade. Goro's fort opposite & Merlin (Shang Sung) very astute.
I'll be honest: I've never understood how to get Reptile to show up 😀. I used to always think it was just a coincidence.
Btw Goro was the toughest for me nere, nearly impossible without applying exact movements.
Thx for visit 👍
@@OldNerdPlayingOldPCGames Thanks to express analysis your
Hello my friend
❤
Call me crazy but I like version with Roland music more.
Wow besides the sprites being a tad bit smaller it's almost arcade perfect. The poor p.c. was working o.t. on the audio thoughout. It didn't play the grand champions theme all the way through. But cool stuff nonetheless.
Glad you enjoyed. Thx for visit & feedback👍
@@OldNerdPlayingOldPCGames i sure did. I always adored mortal kombat 1 my favorite by far, i still believe it's more inspired by Bruce Lee than john claude, the orginal Bruce Lee's uncomplete version of game of death right before he passed. unfortunately, that orginal script is about a secret agent/fighter who's siblings get kidnapped by a powerful crime boss and he and a small group of fighter's have to go unarmed to this secret 5 story Chinese pagoda with a series of undefeated fighters, all from different styles of kombat who occupy each floor, the last of which is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. You actually see the same set of the movie or extremely simlar on the outdoor balcony stage with the statue and mutiple level pagoda in the background. That entire movie is basically a realistic mortal kombat movie, by far the best version I've ever seen besides the orginal arcade adaption itself. It's absolutely perfection.
My dad said he got so close to beating the game but her could never beat the final boss.
Well, it's actually pretty tough, to be fair. I couldn't finish this game with most of the characters myself. If I remember correctly I only finished it with Scorpion and Sub-Zero in the 90s, maybe Raiden too. But even today I had problems, not gonna lie. Some just don't have enough moves, or I was just always weak in that game, I won't quibble 😆
Thanks for visit & watching my older nostalgia hits 👍
@@OldNerdPlayingOldPCGames Even harder than Frank Horrigan?
@@Frank-Horigan2241 Idk, because I've never played F2, tbh...
I know, I know... I should've already fix it 😃
Bro, how can I change my resolution on it or whatever, I'm playin on DOSBox too. But everything is really pixelated and I don't know many of the controls, it's so complicated. Can you help me?
No problem, send me a PM on Facebook, because I need more details what's going on here, screen , etc.
It looks arcade perfect, except for the resolution and contrast.
Sub zero fatality
Sub zero fatality❤😂❤
😈👿
Much like Wolfenstein 3D and DᵒᵒM,
Mortal Kombat was meant to be a DOS
port and not for the SNES & Sega 32x.
As a lifelong PC gamer, I'm certainly not going to dispute this statement 🙂
Is this the DOS CD ROM version or the DOS floppy version?
I am not sure actually, but I think its floppy version.
@@OldNerdPlayingOldPCGames ok. I asked because the DOS CD ROM version had a CD audio soundtrack, bug fixes, and more animation. It's still better than the Sega Genesis and Sega CD version
@@marccaselle8108 Thx for info. I didn't know about it 👍
Muy épico !! bien hecho 😃 buen video LIKE ! 👍 un saludo (ya por aquí de nuevo)💯👨🏽💻👩🏼💻 🔥 LIKE 👍 Y CORAZON ❤️ AL COMENTARIO 📄 🔥
Medium difficulty?
I don't remember actually, but yeah, I think its medium. Thx for visit 👍
so is there no story mode in Mortal Kombat (1992)?
Hi. No. There was only Tower mode in the first MKs. Thx for visit 👍
@@OldNerdPlayingOldPCGames oh so does story mode start with Mortal Kombat 9?
@@ibrahimaljarbuo2266 Quote from Quora: "As per the main series goes, the first true story mode was included in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, which is the 5th game in the main series, the 2nd 3D entry, and one of the best MK games ever."
@@ibrahimaljarbuo2266
There is only a comic book to this game.
Can you please tell me how to get this game? And thanks🙏
It's available on Archive org, but it's still not free.
@@OldNerdPlayingOldPCGames What is an AbandonWare?
@@jihadkorbani1389 Sorry, it's still not free, my apologies. Check out Archive org.
@@OldNerdPlayingOldPCGames Ok thanks
Clear image quality, just a pity the zero playback skill level doesn't match the viewing quality.
Just as boring as that other UA-camr who was posting MK2 videos who accumulated thousands of viewers using his boring style of play against the cpu and online challenges.
Think he eventually quit his channel because of the demands of having to keep posting regular content and couldn't handle the negativity stuff.
Think it was DarkNoob who used to post the best MK1, MK2, MK3 content in terms of high level playing skills even though the viewing image quality wasn't at this level. His fast paced play and incredible combos made MK a joy to watch.
MK clearly had high levels gameplay qualities but few people used it and only interested in the basics and fatalities.
That's right. My gaming skill has never been very high, I admit. And unfortunately, the older I get, the worse it gets. I'm not too happy about it, but believe me, I'm trying my best.
I do care about video quality, as my gameplay footages are set under a "Creative Commons" license, so anyone can use it in their own videos without any copyright issues. Also YT compression is pretty tough on videos under 1440p, so I started doing all in 4K.
Thanks so much for the feedback 👍
