I sort of preferred the card viewer being off to the side as I liked having a view of the game board w/ the card. Maybe it could come in from the side? Or be slightly smaller? But I'll shut up if other people like it better this way!
Agreed. Kinda thought I would like it at first since I’m used to it kinda being there when I’m watching MTGMudsta…but it was kinda too large. Maybe just make it a bit smaller and we should be good.
Like the innovation happenning on the show it is so cool to see new stuff tried out. My take though is that it kinda sucks to have the screen taken up by the card that is being played, one of the reasons I stick with CMDRVS over any of the other Commander content creators is for the interactions and personality of all the hosts and not being able to see their faces as cards are being played takes away from that somewhat. Maybe having the card off to the side so you can show the card Reanimate while also showing Justin's reaction to the play. Great show, so glad to have everyone back!
Personally I liked the old overlay with the card on the side so I can focus on the action on the table. This one eats a lot of screen space, maybe move the card to the right and scale it down a bit so we can see the table. Also please bring back the commander damage on the overlay. I liked the points moving to the end so the show action starts in a few minutes.
Love the new layout, looks very clean. I feel like the card overlay is a little bigger than I would like. Probably should be bigger than the commander hot tub, but it blocks an awful lot of the screen as it is now.
We need a 2 head giant commander tournament. John and Steven, justin and Jeremy, prof and post, Josh and Jimmy and the others. That content would be huge.
Jon you cast Plumb, no matter how many copies, the original will kill you because you lose 1 for it. The additional 3 copies would be 3 additional life lost and 3 cards. So you would have gone to 4 then to 3, 2, 1, 0 while drawing your four cards.
@@scifoncra6376 Losing the life wasn't an additional cost. Saccing the creatures was the additional cost. So Zulaport Cutthroat would give him the 3 life gain before he lost the 3 to the copies, which wouldn't happen until they resolve. That said, yes the original one should have done one life loss to him too killing him.
Plumb is cast, additional cost of saccing 3 creatures is paid, putting 3 copies of plumb on the stack. Zulaport sees 3 creatures dying, draining 3 from everyone putting Jon at 4 life. Jon resolves first 3 copies of plumb, netting him 3 cards and putting him back to 1 life. In response to the original plumb, which will kill him, Jon casts Doomblade on Slogurk. Then the original plumb resolves and Jon dies. No play mistakes here, Jon dies before drawing his 4th card.
I just had to say as an Innistrad fanatic that Rem is a Gryff rider. But all the warmup chatting in this episode already had me laughing my head off so I’m not complaining
i am glad points are done at the end. it is always confusing who has scored what points. if you are fairly new to this like me, it is really hard to work out what points are scored for what.
I'll put the notification bell on and subscribe if Commander VS becomes its own channel. I don't want the notifications and all for the rest of the SCG content.
Also, this feels like Jeremy's revenge from Commander VS S8E1 wherein Stephen 'negotiates' with Jeremy that they'll fight 1v1 not realizing Stephen plans to end the game within the same turn as well. #bingewatcher #teamgreen
Protection from a color prevents all damage assigned to a creature. Since during the damage assignment, the attacker only needs to assign lethal damage to the creature before being able to assign trample damage to you. Slogurk would still be able to deal all damage instead of only 2 to Jeremy
That's not how trample and protection interact. You still have to assign "lethal" damage (in this case 6 since Neheb has toughness) before assigning trample damage. They played it correctly with the 2 trample damage. See rule 702.19b.
I was all prepped to make the leverage/Leverage joke in the comments after the episode, and then the director promptly made the joke himself. Well played.
Anakin: Hey, did you hear they "updated" the CMDR VS overlay? Padme: Oh, that's cool, they made it better, right? Anakin: ... Padme: They made it better, right?
@@brandandixon3943 That wouldn't outright kill him. He can choose to not pay life to cast the spells. I too am lost as to what could kill him just by casting it.
When I saw the commanders I already had a good feeling who was going to win. That commander can win in a blink and most players aren't expecting it yet.
Here you go! articles.starcitygames.com/video/commander-vs-262-innistrad-midnight-hunt-legends/#more-107574 We post them on the website shortly after the video goes up, just FYI!
I'm sure other people like it, but personally I'm not sure I can stomach the new layout enough to watch the game. I liked being able to see the board state at all times, and the card covering it really turns me off. I can understand why you would want it bigger, but this feels a bit like putting the cart before the horse. If I can't see the board, seeing a close of all the cards being played isn't all that helpful either. It's always possible to pause to read a card or pause and search it up with the older version, but with this version it's impossible to see the board for much more time than I feel comfortable with.

Jon (6): S5, S10, S12, S13,S23, S24
Jeremy (5): S7, S16, S18, S19, S22
Most points accumulated in a season: Jon 35 points S23
Least points accumulated in a season: Justin S13 got 19 points in the whole season
Most points gained in a single episode: Stephen 8 (se2 ep1, note back then saving a player counted as 2, not 1)
Most season games won (yes I went back and checked every single episode)
Jon: 58 wins
Justin: 55 wins
Stephen: 47 wins
Jeremy: 46 wins
Longest Win streak: Jon 5 - won the first 5 games of season 1
Most times killed first/ Died first (single death, doesn't include multiple ppl dying at once)
Justin: 52
Stephen: 47
Jon: 39
Jeremy: 35
Now i want to know how many times Stephen killed Justin, and how many times Justin killed Stephen
@@RobSTom5 Lol, yeah I didn't keep track of that one, but I would guess 50% of both Justin & Stephen's deaths come at the hands of each other.
Thats great thanks alot
@@DaniMol Ey no problem, I thought it would be interesting to keep track of all that while binging.
Man, that's some dedication right there
Therapist: Justin on the right side doesn’t exist, he can’t hurt you.
Commander VS this week:
"He has THEORETICAL BEARS which are almost as scary as real bears" made me cackle
Just gonna put out a request for a timestamp on this one
Oh wow, that part played literally 1 minute after I asked for a timestamp. 28:10 ish.

maybe it could stay a little shorter on the screen
personally I pause to read the cards I don't know anyways
Agreed
I watch these on my phone, so I personally much prefer the new method :)
this is awesome. they should have a wiki

Much better!!!
I got to meet Stephen and Justin at Gencon. Good guys in person. Thank you Stephen for the deal on that sweet Sol Ring. Take care guys.

I approve of the random college football trivia thrown about at the beginning of the video... Spot on analogy 😂
I love this new layout except for it don't show the comander damage
I'm guessing it's because it doesn't actually matter more often than not.
Nice to see the improvements you got in this season. More power Commander VS!
We need a 2 head giant commander tournament. John and Steven, justin and Jeremy, prof and post, Josh and Jimmy and the others. That content would be huge.
Does Jonathan not know what Gisa does? He completely ignored the whole "decayed" part of Gisa
That's what I was thinking

The App State / Michigan comment brought back painful memories. Tho I appreciated the references.
Justin’s deck wins best flavor. I want to see this deck again.
That is the appropriate definition of Leverage. That show is great!
Kind of surprised Justin loving zombies so much he didn’t play Wilhelt.
Oh I'm sure he'll play it multiple times this season
Yeah, that precon slaps, so upgraded could be nasty.

Just made my day. Tysm
I am so happy to see them back in the studio 😊
Bit of a short game, but excellent energy and banter. Great episode!
3:30 I got some serious "when will then be now... soon" vibes
Stephen had big Crim (from MTGGoldfish) energy at the end there and I respect it
Funky johney energy? Instead of stephans usually Timmy energy
The sight of your faces seriously brought me back two years
#TeamParnell
The vibes and chatter on the studio videos are just so much better, this was so much good fun.
I can't wait for my 'Oh I'm Justin, let me make snide remarks!' T-shirt
GG everyone...loving the new look guys..keep up the good show
Right off the bat, Jonathan Suarez says ring the swamp bell... I waited for him to drop Kormus Bell on field :D
I like the new overlay, just make the card reader either smaller or not last as long and bring back commander damage. :)

Glad yall are back!!!
Best show on the internet. I hope you guys live forever so this show never ends.
Hell yeah!!!! Was waiting for a new upload!
Loving the thumbnail poses!
i want justin to play nekusar again with the same decklist as 5 years ago but with Helm of the ghastlord and diplomatic immunity
So i guess it wouldnt be a CMDRVS with Green missing triggers lol. he could have had 2 creatures from lands hitting the graveyard 39:05.

Fine work, gentleman!
Can we bring back fan submitted screen caps and pics??
Where did you find the rulings for the commander steal with reanimate?
If I have to comment can’t wait for the episode where Stephen trusts Justin back. QwQ
Justin on the right: cursed video
isnt Karolus' mount a Gryff? the heron head/horse body thing?
Can we find the exact scoring rules somewhere? :)
On a side note, the big card in the center so we can ACTUALLY READ IT, is super helpful. Thank you editor 🙏🏻

Bolos citadel

we missed the starting Animation mini video of the 4 players :( that usually plays just before the game starts : /
Go Justin this is gonna be your season!!
You can block with MoR and give herself protection from the color of the creature you are blocking.
Rem Karolus is clearly riding a gryff
Hey. Still binging here. How the heck did no one pick Tovolar for first MID match?
Rem Karolus rocks, so I'm team Jeremy today

Something is different in stephen's appearance today. Hmmm
Generic/Average Singleton Commanders....it does stuff and does it somewhat well. :)
Couldnt Jeremy kill 2 of em and them leave enough mana open to kill the last person next turn to get full points?
Rookie mistake. Asking Jeremy to think.
No, Jeremy was tapped out. He was using Neheb mana. If he passes he loses the Neheb mana.
Just came here to see Dennick playstyle… Taking someone’s commander should not be allowed in fact.
