Its very unscripted. I literally hit record and start watching the video and talking. I dont even listen back until im done and only stop when i hit a tongue twister and sound stupid 🤣
You have become one of my very favorite channels on this platform. I really enjoy woodworking; has helped a lot with my mental health. Seeing this stuff, I’d love to learn how to do this. Well done, sir!
Thanks. Im glad you enjoy the videos. I also enjoy wood working but unfortunately my space is limited so i dont do any but hopefully in the future ill have the opportunity to do some as well. You should really try out bladesmithing. Its loads of fun.
This is a beautiful piece. The grain with the copper visible in the tang is amazing. And the color choices for the handle are perfect. I'd be interested in this knife.
I'd have to say that this one is one of my favorite ones I've seen you do. I especially like that you did the handle in black and orange. That in it's self is giving me a Halloween vibe. I like that because i was born on Halloween.
I gotta tell you bud; that knife is absolutely phenomenal. You are extremely critical of your own work and I think you should give yourself more credit; I don't know how long you have been doing this (3rd video I've watched) but your work speaks for itself. The copper was done so well in this, I'm drooling.
I am very critical of my work. I'm self conscious about trading my piece for a sum of money and then it arriving and the buyer being like fuck i spent all that money on this crap. Its not an easy thing to get over for me but once I do the world is my oyster lol
Your voice is so chill haha. When I’m doing my own hobbies and something doesn’t go my way, I just think about you saying something like “I kinda pressed the makers mark deeper than I wanted, but oh well”. Even though you do make mistakes during the process, the end product is always amazing. Thanks for showing the mess ups.
Ive messed up way worse. Once i was doing a commission copper layer knife for a client and i went to heat treat it and i turned to talk to my brother and over heated it. Then in a hurry i pulled it out and it fell on the ground and split into 3 pieces. That day i curse and kicked but in the end i learned sometimes it just is what it is. Then i started a new one 🤣
I have to say that this has to be one of the top knifes you have done over the years. The hole black and gray steel looks amazing, not to forget the copper that really pops out, brings allot of character to the knife. Though the hole knife in it's self is spectacular, along with a well made choice in the handle design.
Very nice! I agree that when using synthetic handle material on patterned steel, the whole thing should get etched; the pattern on the tang is very nice indeed.
I clicked the link to see what was available to buy. All sold out!!!!! Well dang it!!! I will definitely keep my eyes peeled though. I need to own some of your work, my friend. Keep up the good work. Love your content!!!
I havent uploaded any new knives in a while. I have like 5 finished knives on my table i just need to take pictures of and up load but i just haven't gotten around to yet. I keep telling myself once i get a few more ill do it all in one go 🤣
Awesome video. Just my armchair idea, I have no idea how to really forge anything. If you do chain again, as you feed the chain into the canister also fill in with the powder at the same time. An idea for different patterns. It might also cause less issues in the press and use up more of the can while on the down side it would use more powder too.
The issue is the powder needs a 30% reduction to become solid so the more powder it has in it the more it will crush the can and since the chain is nothing but voids you get what happened to me. Only other thing i can do is force the chain close together with my press then fill the rest of the gaps with powder.
Amazing job young man!! Your content and skill show in this video. True Master Craftsman bro. Don’t sell yourself short. Just absolutely amazing work! ❤
I love how its end up, great colors. Also I know that you have lots of ideas and projects, but I noticed that no one really do dense damascus with some simple pattern sanmai on top of it(tooth or wave). And now if we would add cooper between those two layers... It would probably end as really great looking knife :D
No because the acid removes the coating. Acetone would just clean it but not remove it. Once you burn the zinc coating the fumes are also very toxic so its best to remove them before hand. Just make sure you are in a well ventilated area if you do so.
"Hmm I need some background noise while I work on something." *Sees new JP's Bladeworks video* "Guess I'm watching this first instead!" Another awesome looking knife!
Did you work on the warp after testing the knife on 2*4? Anyways the knife looks sick, these videos are literally work for me as oddly satisfying videos... Nice work man.!!
I just ground it down a bit when i took the edge off. I didnt record it since it was like a 10 second thing on some 220 grit. The only reason it was rolled over was because i hit the vise handle
@@joshwhite9211 Ohh man im the wrong guy to ask. It was before i did youtube and i didnt make a list or anything. You should check out @TyrellKnifeworks he has a video where he explains everything and has links to all the parts.
I have a suggestion about stamping your mark - I've seen quite a few videos where you press it too deep.... why not make a shoulder that can touch one of those kiss blocks on the side of the stamp and do it the same every time? You could adjust the height of the kiss block based on the knife thickness and be super consistent..
Its not what your knife does to the vice but what the vice does to your knife . Had to say it .That is a beautiful knife and that roll was minimal for smacking that vice handle . You make some really nice knives . What's up with people not wanting narration? Are they looking for asmr nonsense. Your videos are just fine .
Yea but you can't keep everyone happy. I am going to make an asmr channel with the same videos and just doing the editing a bit different but I will put that in new channel. I'm sure non English speaking people would prefer that but I'm going to keep doing the narration on this channel since I think it makes the videos better. And doing the asmr channel doesn't add but another hour of work a week so no biggie on my end.
I actually like how human and unscripted you sound on your videos. Great work!
Its very unscripted. I literally hit record and start watching the video and talking. I dont even listen back until im done and only stop when i hit a tongue twister and sound stupid 🤣
people should use copper more often, it looks so nice
this might be one of my favorite knives you've made

Orange copper and black look so good together!
Yea I think it compliments it well
Your craft is getting more beautiful mate!
Thanks you
Wow that spine of the tang really looks great, etching with the handle on sure paid off
It definetly does
Thats gorgeous. My favorite you've made so far
Thanks
It turned out really beautiful.. I like the fact that you are trying to make knife blades out of all kinds of materials….
It fun to experiment
I watch alot of guys making knives JP. You are up there with the best.. I like the honesty..👍👍👍
Thanks for the compliment
Thats badass sir love how you can see the layers on the tang and spine. Im super happy that i found your channel. Keep up the good work
Thank you
Pretty cool. I am glad you are willing to try hardware store steel and that you are knowledgeable enough to be safe about it.
The good thing about canisters is you can play with the materials and as long as you have a solid core steel its all good.
Really sweet knife the handle goes really well with the colors and pattern
@@jasonleece9382 thanks
Awesome knife loved the colors and the combination of the bras and metal
Thank you
Love the knife bro, I like the fact that you left the pattern in the spine of the knife and the orange works well with the copper 🦾
It really pops nicely
🔥love the copper!
Glad you liked it Aaron
Beautiful knife. Love the copper inlay. You did an outstanding job. ~Kevin

Thanks. Much appreciated

good work bro, ive watched a Ton of ppl fail when it comes to adding copper. U made it look EZ
Ive failed a few myself. Its easy to over heat
That is awesome looking with the copper and the orange in the handle
I tried to tie everything together as best i could
That turned out fantastic. Nice job.

another great piece JP.

Excellent work get better every video
Thanks its fun experimenting with different steels and styles
Beautiful! That copper line is striking, well done. I was wondering, would acetone work for cleaning chain, rather than the acid you used here?
No because the acid removes the coating. Acetone would just clean it but not remove it. Once you burn the zinc coating the fumes are also very toxic so its best to remove them before hand. Just make sure you are in a well ventilated area if you do so.
@@JPsBladeworks Thanks!
Dang that's a good looking knife. Wonder if you can get several copper layers on one side and have two transitions.
Its doable. I havent done it but its easy enough to do
My kinda knife!
Its beautiful
Glad you liked it
Wow unbelievable talent bro
Thanks
You do awesome work.
Thank you
I’d buy it. Great looking knife.
Thanks. Glad you liked it
The copper streak through the cutting edge?
Your an artisan, brother👊
No but it is close. It looks closer after the knife is sharpened but its definitely not on the cutting edge.

Thanks for the support
Love it best one yet

Looks great, What temp were you looking for about 1850 F by the look of it?
Yup. I have to keep less than 1900 to play it safe if not it will end up melting
I didn't see when you made the video but I'd really like to find out if you sale the knifes
I need to restock my website with the last few ive made. I dont sell many since im picky about what i sell.
Gorgeous!
Thank you
Omg 😮 I want that like really bad price need to know and does it come with sheath as well
No sheath. I dont have the time to make one. I have to start the next build
What does a knife like this cost it's a knife style I'm looking to purchase like at this moment
Gets it as a chain from Home Depot for cheap but probably sells it for way more as a knife nice!
Hopefully I still have it in a drawer in my house 😅
Would like to know for future reference, how much for one just like that cost me?
No idea. I havent even set a price for this one yet but im sure the price will be higher in the future.

Thats just the way it comes out

do you do custom sheaths as well? I ask because I would love to buy a knife but I have a sheath I am looking for to go with it.
