Standing there I was admiring that model Simon, as you said a far cry from the models of our youth, and it runs very well too. Keep chuffing. Ron

They have got more detailed Ron, but that makes them more fragile. They have gone beyond simple 'toys'. Sometimes I think that's a bit of shame, it almost excludes youngsters from the hobby.

Greetings Simon 🖐Your scenic work is looking fantastic 😍really enjoying the running sessions 👍The Farish Pannier is definitely a superior performer to the Dapol one 🤐 which is a lesson in frustration 😤 Very best wishes from the Emerald Isle ☘

Hello again, I'm trying to slow down on the scenic work or I will have nothing to do this winter. I'm getting into my third corner now and along the back to my 4th corner.
That runs really nicely when going slow. It's DCC ready and will creep a bit with the power on 0. Perhaps the ordinary controllers still put a small amount out when off?

Hi Simon, Thats a great little engine and works really well at all speeds directions and loads. Needs careful handling as you indicate. Thats what I like about my Hornby Dublo 3 rail its die cast and solid as you like. Paul from West Country Wanderings caught some film of one of these tanks in his video today on the severn valley
Great bit of running, I think Ron was impressed ..... at least he hadnt fallen over yet!! Have a great week

It's very nice but fragile with it. As I said to Ron these locos are no longer toys which might put off parents buying something for their kids. Not to mention all that detail comes at a price.
Ron falls over all the time, I think he must be on the brandy!

Hi Simon. Try running the pannier tank in the middle of two autocoaches!

At busy times they had 2 autocoaches and they pushed a third. I've been watching some old black and white films from around the Forest of Dean. Very strange seeing hill sides with all the timber cut off them.

    Nice Tardis.

That gets Ron round the layout and back in time to the steam age.

The detail on that engine is amazing, especially when you compared it to the older model. I still can't get used to the idea of how tiny the rolling stock is - the engine is what, a couple of inches long? And Doctor Who got in on the act too!!!!
Can you satisfy my curiousity? Does the single track join up with the main line at any point or is it on a loop of its own?

The detail means it's very fragile. I have already broken the class 122 getting it out of the box and you can't get spare parts. I will have to try and make a part sometime in the future. That was Ron travelling around my layout checking I'm doing things correctly.
The single track is completely seperate. I had to make the electrics as simple as possible for me. And cheap. I could of used Digital control but you are looking at £200 for a basic digital controller and roughly £25 - £30 per loco. Plus to convert my old locos would of cost a fortune and may not of been even possible. So electrically everything is kept well apart.
