All of this needed to be said! So glad I stumbled onto your channel with you 100% bro. I used to be a Traxxas fanboy back in the day but then I started realizing what they were doing and how much better quality for price point there was out there, great video man
Traxxas electronics are 5+ years behind. They need to partner with castle/hobbywing again and rebrand the VXL stuff. The BL-2S is essentially brushed power that doesn't overheat on you. Buy your Traxxas cars as sliders if you want one. My advice.
@@gamedogrc Throttle control is problematic with Traxxas 3s and 6s vehicles in that there is none. No ability to drive at slower speeds and if you attempt to, expect surging and cogging to take place. I offloaded my Sledge and Maxx/Slash for that very reason. It drove me crazy, especially when compared to Spectrum 6s vehicles which offers excellent control at all speeds. @XWXW-lk4jf yea beginners and hard drivers. I did notice that too, its hard to just putt a traxxas along. They are fast cars i will always admit that. Just feel kinda toyish to me now that I have got other brands. Thanks for the feedback and support bro.
Been doing it for a while too bro. me and my friend were discussing earlier today that arrmas blx like is like traxxas base models but the blx does not need all the exb upgrades to be competitive out of the box. they are tough enough from factory. exb means extreme bash they key word bieng "extreme" not everyone drives their cars to the extreme so really exb from arrma is overkill built. what you really want.
Awesome information which will save money, thankyou very much for this, looking forward to you makeing more on the absolute best upgrades that give you the most for the money.
tbh bro its about a fine balance just like real cars. you can have the perfect car with the wrong tires for example, then the whole build is off. When looking to upgrade, buying a car that is built better from the factory will require less upgrades to make it better. Arrmas BLX Line for example is their base before upgrading to EXB but the BLX is good enough without having to drop more in it if you catch my drift. Thanks for the support bro.
I did as well. And I was paid back for my patience with the release of the new Notorious and Kraton. We pre ordered two of the Notorious’s because of that blue and yellow body (SICK!!!) & 1 Kraton Thank you Arrma & Horizon!!!
Totally agree with you! Here's an example: TRX4m, stock gears too fast to crawl, too slow to trail, so they sold crawler and trailing gears for it. When the sales of those slowed down, they offered a two speed manual transmission. Finally they had competition from brushless suppliers, so they came out with a brushless setup. They went step by step to maximize after sale upgrades. Next example: what's a TRX4 Bronco cost? I don't know, it's too expensive to bother looking. So I got the clone HB R1001 on sale for $160. The Traxxas light kit cost $150. by itself! You just got a new sub! Peace!
thanks alot broski. i subbed back. i totally agree w your assessment, its ridiculous knowing all the money you can spend even on a traxxas crawler, you can get 5 of them for that price or build a larger scale. i appreciate your support and feedback.
I’m totally feeling you bro!Traxxas is on some bullshit!!! Those $ is just stupid! Traxxas just thinking they apple or something……. Gotta say tho that mustache is rockin no bullshit!! You be you!!!

SOMETHING IS OFF IN THE RC WORLD I THOUGHT I KNEW, having been in RC for over 30 years. From largest to smallest: I have a Rovan 5B BUGGY, a LOSI SUPER LASERNUT, an ARRMA INFRACTION V2, an ARRMA MOJAVE 6S ... (and I guess you see the drift: I'm into large scale RCS. But what's baffling me is the whole fuss over the small-ass models everyone seems to be fussing over. Why don't more RC influencers stop pushing this nonsense fad with their small, ridiculous rc vehicles. AND THAT'S WHY I LOVE YOUR TAKE IN THIS VIDEO!
@@haroldbascom5866 thanks alot fpr the support and feedback bro. Im into the larger vehicles myself. I just dont like to see hard working people waste uneccesary money. On point . I was gonna order one but went with a stampede 4x4 VXL. Also got the GTR shocks, oil, pinion gears and motor heat sink and fan. yep. the same. i bought the brushed one on a impulse buy and didnt see the brushless version till after. just brushless swap. all you should have to change in the grom is the front and rear diffs. i plan on building mine after the holidays. thanks for the support bro.
I bought a XRT Ultimate early this year and…. I love it! 😁 but I agree with you on your ecosystem statement. Especially for the new, casual hobbiest. I ended up upgrading that XRT with a hobbywing max5 combo and servo. Traxxas does have a knack of giving the customer “good enough” electronics. My favorite RC ever is probably the Arrma Infraction.
@@Backupplan94 thanks gor your comment and support bro much apreeciated. TBH I think the XRT is the BEST Vehicle they have released in recent years. That truggie looks fantastic and was built pretty good. I will say you made a great choice w the xrt. I been through it w traxxas ecosystem too and its too much at times.
@@gamedogrc thanks hommie! 🤙 The XRT is the only Traxxas I really like lol. I really hope they make a Mini XRT. I’d prolly turn a blind eye to any problems it might have haha! 😉 Your channel has some good takes!
Traxxas is starting to panic a little, because arrma has their foot on traxxas neck right now! But that's good competition, hopefully traxxas will step up Because we know they can make top shelf shit!
I agree 100% with you. I’ve had traxxas for years, I finally sold 16 trucks and buggy’s about a month ago to buy more arrma and corally. It’s awesome when you can purchase a truck and not have to spend 200-400 in upgrades o make it right. I had almost 650 in my hoss. Arrma vortex blx is stock and much better for half the price.
I agree with you traxxas is a rabbit hole of upgrading that’s why I just build from the ground up. Arrma will get you too but they will listen to the customer on some stuff. And I don’t fool with traxxas electronics at all. 😂😂😂 great video bro
thanks alot for the support bro. Arrma at least builds their cars at higher spec. in my opinion, i feel like arrmas are similar to corally in build quality but arrma drivers are really hard drivers. they dont keep their cars looking to pretty for too long.
@ that’s true you get more for your money to start. Me personally I don’t see the need to jump any of my rc cars 30 feet in the air but I don’t mind watching it lol. Happy to support all who enjoy the hobby
Facts! This is R/C, run what you like. There shouldn’t be any animosity in this hobby. NO TRAXXAS HATE, they make good products, but dollar for dollar there are other companies giving you better performance out of the box. As far as durability, all these companies have their issues, ALL OF THEM! Lastly, damn near everything is made in China… Don’t be confused by “Designed/Engineered In the USA” and “Assembled in the USA”… It is what it is. Put the battery in and go! Peace and Love everybody.
@@MikeyG-RC thanks for watching and for your support bro. I just want to help other the way I was helped. Gotta expand your horizons within the hobby. A person might try a new brand and get amazed the same way i did. Like you said, Run What You Like. Thats what makes everything fun.
I understand exactly what your saying! I have 1 traxxas car its a widemaxx v2 I run it on 4s an it rips an is tough AF. The mini maxx diffs can't handle 3s even though they say you can put a 3s valion system in it an will handle it. It won't, if your going to keep the bl2s system the diffs should be able to handle it but will still probably blow out. My first traxxas was a T-max but traxxas was a very different company back then.
yeah they are just destroying their maxx name with this RC. Its a budget car for beginners. They know all the serious people would increase power yet the diffs shred themselves like one of the planetary gears in my 2wd rustler. they cant hand power. now i did not think this would be an issue. I just know how much room they leave for upgrades but still charge premium prices. now with the diff failure, it just proves my point even more. thanks for your support and feedback, very much appreciated.
i love taxxas nitro cars. none of those are bad to me. my buddy has a tmaxx classic and it still runs. got a vid of it on my channel stripping the spur gear.
I just subbed brother.. just because you kept it 💯.. I been saying you don't have to spend your life savings on a RC Truck to have a fun.. you can get a decent rc for less
Its never a bad lineup in this hobby bro. its all about the vehicles, the fun ,and the comradery between us in the RC Hobby. I love my kagama and Arrmas grew onto me. They are similar in build to corallys in my opinion. Thanks for the support bro.
Ok 👌🏽 I'm picking up what you putting down 👇🏽 been in this hobby for 1 year ... I've got quite a small collection but ask why out of 20 something rc I only have 1 traxxas a Rustler that I've thrown out the internals and brushless was the move. @@YungStun you gotta buy what you like. It lots of other brands out there that are premium also. Not just traxxas. I only own 5 cars myself right now. More to come but my hoss is retired and like u seen in the vid, my 2wd rustler is stripped down. Thanks for the support bro. Always appreciated.

@@YungStun traxxas been around since 86 so they have a huge market, their not even worried about those of us who are not liking their methods of business and leave them in the wind.
Morale of the story is if you don't like the Traxxas price/product then don't buy it. Lots of less serious RC hobbiests like myself out here who buy RCs simply how they look a decent performance, durability and/or don't worry about the cost. Most people will buy these for their kids. If $270 for Mini Maxx is going to break the bank then maybe RC isn't the right hobby for you, don't get sucked into the upgrades or look for better value options. Traxxas knows what they are doing and are smart. Low entry price for base vehicle, make it RTR with included battery and RC, offer 100's of accessories to customize. How I ended up with a $600+ TRX4M 🤣
@@gamedogrc Yep. Speaking of which I'm about to drop $600 on a new Traxxas Sledge to add to my collection. Are their better values out there? probably but I guess I don't care enough to look and I've enjoyed my experience with my Xmaxx, Maxx and TRX4M so far so sticking with Traxxas. Will pick up a couple Mini Maxxes next week too. Also have a few Tamiya RCs going back several years. I just buy what looks like fun.

Your right about traxxas locking you in! The mini maxx already has 151 upgrade parts available! They do it all the time. And for their price most of the upgrades should come on the cars out the box! Example the sledge, $700 1/8 scale truggy. Comes with plastic shock caps and the next day traxxas had metal shock caps in every color in the rainbow for $50! That's where I dropped traxxas. Nothing like buying a truck for 270$ then you have to dump 200$ Worth of upgrades into it and there is a diff problem with the truck. I agree with you the Rlaarlo Rogue 1 and the Terminator carbon fiber edition are the best Mini bashers on the market right now. I beat the hell out of both of those trucks and they just keep going and going.
@@Schmidt3850 thanks for the feeback and support bro. I agree the mini maxx is advertised as being able to handle a velineon swap which is destroying the drivetrain so the rlaarlos will be my choice too. They have been on point all year. I broke a suspension arm pin on the rog once due to a runaway but other than that its great. I dont beat on my cars tho and my 3s 2wd rustler swap broke pretty much every drive. Once i put the magnum 272 trans in it it will be fine.
Been a hardcore basher for 20 years. If l am not pushing my trucks past there limits. Then I am not having fun. These two Rlaarlo trucks l have have impressed me beyond my belief. Both of these trucks are tougher than my 1000$ trucks.
@Schmidt3850 yea ive seen the terminator handle 4S. Im more of a speedy driver. I used to drive my friends nitro cars back in the day alot so i just like to haulass. 🤣 i grew up on tyco and radio shack rc cars.
We all like what we like in this hobby more power to ya. Me l just love off road bashing l have a dirt track in my yard with several large jumps just walk outside and I am bashing. Great when I break something just go inside and my work bench is there. Personally the Omni Terminator has more than enough power on 3s for what I do. 100c 3s the truck is a little beast. Have a good one.
I got a Traxxas Summit and an original nitro Rustler, and original TMax nitro, and an XMax and that was years ago. Never bought a Traxxas in years.🤷🏻♂️
Traxxas is such an obnoxious company. $50 more dollars you have a powerhouse Redcat Valkyrie that absolutely destroys every vechile Traxxas makes. Especially the Maxx.
exactly my guy. 4S out the box for 300. decently built and doing 60 plus. there are much better vehicles without having to spend a penny extra past batteries and charger/ safety equipment. im def buying one soon. thanks for the support my friend. much appreciated.
You are crazy …. The valkyrie dont kill the maxx or even come close …. Redcat makes some decent stuff but its still built cheap . Valkyrie is cool looking though. I still wouldnt pick it Over the maxx … it all comes down to money and what you have to spend .
Right now the Valkyrie is only $230! It's insane. The awesome Vigilante is only $670 and I think it's much better than my Xmaxx. The Vigilante drives like if Arrma made a big plastic basher. It's everything I always wished my Xmaxx was. Even better is the body stays on until I take it off instead of ejecting itself at the slightest hint of a crash.
@@jakesrcaddiction I beg to differ. I own both and the Valkyrie is not built cheap in the slightest. It is every bit as tough as the Maxx and then some. I like the Maxx, don't get me wrong, but the Valkyrie handles way better and is a good 10 to 15 miles per hour faster than the Maxx, plus it is packing a much superior esc in the Max 10. In addition, it also comes with some massive differentials that are significantly larger than the ones Arrma uses on their 7th and 8th scale vehicles. They may also be bigger than the Maxx differentials as well. The design is very simple and robust so there are less parts to break. The Maxx handles like a brick shithouse and is a bitch to keep straight. The Valkyrie handles as good as an Arrma Talion and tracks straight as an arrow. If you buy one, I'm positive you will see where I am coming from. The only thing needed is a better transmitter and receiver, preferably one with a gyro on it. The one that comes stock is on par with Traxxas remotes and transmitters which are hit or miss.
Listening more i hear you have a traxxas rustler xl-5. Yes that truck is not meant to have a brushless system and will need tons of upgrades but there vxl model with the 272r tranny is pretty legit it came with the trans thats in the drag car we put tons of power through them and they held up well. Stay away from traxxas electronics buy hobbywing quickrun bl120
You sir are the Katt Williams of RC, nothing but the truth. I troll Traxxas videos with facts because I was one of those hobbyist caught up in the Xmaxx scam. 1000.00 for the truck, another 400 to 500 in replacement parts and upgrades only for their "heavy duty" parts to strip and shred to pieces again. Moved on to several manufacturers and it's been great since. I own several Arrma's Losi's and even HPI's and Rlarrlo's.

The connector warranty is pointless. Traxxas entire warranty now is 30 days and electronics only. After 30 days there is no warranty. There is no logical argument to defend Traxxas. They aren't trying to compete. They don't have to. They can sell the absolute worst vehicle in every category for the highest price in every category. They have a loyal following who are trapped in that crappy battery and charger ecosystem. I used to be compete team Traxxas. I believed Talbot word was gospel and aluminum chassis would bend if you looked at it mean. Then i bought the Fireteam during the $399 black friday sale a couple years ago. Since then I've bought a couple dozen or so RC vehicles and none of them are Traxxas. I've got rid of all but 2 of my Traxxass since then and of those 2 i have put batteries in my Xmaxx once since the Redcat Vigilante came out and that was only to prove to my buddy the Vigilante was better than the Xmaxx by letting him drive them both back to back. I still have a trx6 mainly because nobody makes a real option for it but i rarely drive it either. I will admit the current Traxxass sale prices are the only time I've seen Traxxass prices that were actually competitive to equivalent options. Preach!! I'm not a Traxxas hater by any means, but WTF are they doing? ARRMA is absolutely leaving them in the dust.

We pre ordered two of the Notorious’s because of that blue and yellow body (SICK!!!) & 1 Kraton

Peace!

You are crazy …. The valkyrie dont kill the maxx or even come close …. Redcat makes some decent stuff but its still built cheap . Valkyrie is cool looking though. I still wouldnt pick it
Over the maxx … it all comes down to money and what you have to spend .
@ well just dont crash the x maxx.
What should I buy instead? With remote n battery

They have a loyal following who are trapped in that crappy battery and charger ecosystem. I used to be compete team Traxxas. Make right also . All rc need upgrades and they all break when you drive them hard enough i hate your comparing a traxxas rustler to higher quality vehicles . I have had sledges and kratons and they mostly both had the same issues .
but those are earliier version. traxxas has issues that has plagued them since arrma was founded. ive seen much less arrmas break from simple driving than traxxas. not beating the cars up. anything will break doing that.
@ arrmas have tons of issues also … thats why everything has 10 versions.
@@jakesrcaddiction yea but they listen to consumers and improve the product. Not lie to consumers and still sell unready platforms. Lets see how traxxas handle the mini maxx diff issue as they advertise on the box that it can handle the power. Arrmas new kraton box says "real 65 mph" and it actually does it.
@ ill know when mine comes in im not a huge arrma fan but im excited for the new kraton.
@jakesrcaddiction it looks really good. They fixed quite alot just to be the exb model. Go check out jaytee rc he already speed tested it.
100% Accurate
thanks for your support bro. i subbed to you too ill be checking out your vids later in a little while.
Bro you have no idea what the hell your talking about , I run nothing but traxxas and race every weekend and I have never had an issues with any Trans they built , I'm running against every big name car / truck made today and do dam well with a stock vehicle with the exception of changing the motor and esc , other than that I'm constantly coming home with a top 3 podium finish every single time , I do agree on one point and that's the vxl system they do suck and over heat quick
Now before you go off on this comment THIS IS MY OPINION !! just like you have your opinion
its not a stock rc if you change the electronics. im not the one to go off in comments. but to say i dont know what im talikng about, the comments on ths vid mostly say otherwise. thanks for the support and comment. ps, i dont hate traxxas bro. just dissapointed in them.
Traxxas electronics are too expensive. I dont buy their electronics for that reason. Hobbywing has much better prices. You could prabably fit their 10bl120 g2 4s esc in place of the 2s one
@@Critter0817 not to mention its a quiet system & linear powerbands. I still like traxxas, just been dissapointed in them lately.
@gamedogrc I don't even like how the vxl 3s feels. Yeah it's got punch, but that's about it. The esc alone doesn't even come with a fan for all that money. It overheats on 3s without it. And it doesn't follow the rule of braking then reversing every time. If you're going slow enough and go for the brakes, you do a powered stoppie instead. Real shaft snapper
@Critter0817 im hip my hoss nose dived hard on brakes. The motor is good because ive seen people push up to 8s through them before killing motor. The esc no way jose. Thanks for all your support bro.
Preach
thanks for your comment and support bro. just speaking my opinion brother. can have more cars in my collection instead of wasting it all w traxxas. i still got love for them tho.
Oh man, you have no clou...
what do you mean?
Got to agree with you I don't like plastic chassis got to be metal
@@stevejackson3564 yes i prefer them also. Thanks for the support bro.
@@stevejackson3564 rather have more weight for durability. Even when it comes to screwing things into plastic. Its just no strength.
Why the hell you buying traxxas electronics? When u held up the "traxxas metal servo" you lost me bro...anybody who knows anything would never have purchased an "upgraded" traxxas servo...they'd buy Reefs or ShiftsRC or NSDRC. You're upgrade skills are lacking bro. Don't agree w what u have put on this one.
understandable but i only put traxxas parts in traxxas cars. just how i do things.
Youn do not have enough experience to be giving advice.
@@brentnevius2849 says who? You dont know my RC background.
@@gamedogrc Based on your opinions, it is not extensive.
@brentnevius2849 New to OWNING MY OWN. Ive been around my friends doing this for over 20yrs. Electric Cars are not even my favorite. Youre entitled to your Opinion.. I grew up with tyco amd radio shack rcs. They Were Hobby RC kits when i as a kid and as i got older i did other things. Its just my interest in rcs just got resparked last year. Bro my real initials is RC.. thanks for your support tho bro. All is welcome
I agree bro I spent over 50k just with Traxxas they never gave me anything but a trx4-m 😂 and I bought all of them I think I might pass on this mini maxx but I’m buying the Vxl 4s jato 🤘🏽🏁 Subscribe I just subscribe to you
@@bkfracing8025 thanks alot bro i subbed back. 50k is alot. Yea im sitting out on the jato too. Not too impressed. The jato is a nitro platform to me. Its just a slash buggy but whatever floats ya boat my brother🤣 thanks for you support.
