Mikey, I really appreciate your sharing this info with us. I'm just putting together all of my research on the family for my sisters and their offspring. I'll send each of them a thumb drive for Christmas. I have included links to the videos on these thumb drives, so I earnestly hope the videos will have a very long and happy life on UA-cam. It would be a shame to lose them! I'm the last male in my direct line through Richard Kemball to Henery Kymbold of Hitcham. Much of our history is in Concord, NH. Again, thank you!

You're very welcome! Glad it's helpful! Have you read The History Of The Kimball Family In America by Sharples & Morrison?

@@mikeykimball Yes, Mikey, the Morrison & Sharples book was in fact my very first birthday present 72 years ago, given me by my grandmother who was married to Robert Gage Kimball. Each of my siblings were subsequently given copies of the book during ensuing years by my father. Clearly pride for our direct male lineage to a Puritan forbear was important to us. Until I started digging on the internet a number of years ago, we knew little of the English family history beyond Rattlesden. There is much speculation out there, so we have to be careful. For example the supposed ‘family coat of arms’ was almost certainly a fabrication produced back in the 19th century at a time when families paid good money for ‘proof’ to a link to nobility. I have read somewhere that our likely original name ‘Cynebeald’ was one of the very early surnames of England from a time when it became important for tax collectors and others to distinguish this Richard of Hitcham from that Richard of Hitcham. We are undoubtedly an old family, likely of no particular prestige in early years, but like most other families, we have had our stand-outs. My line was concentrated since ‘Deacon’ John Kimball in Concord, NH. He was a cabinet maker and Congregational church deacon. His son, a Dartmouth-educated attorney, was actually the guy that moved our branch to Concord. His son (the attorney’s son) became wealthy by moving to Dardanelle, Arkansas for I think nine years engaged in commerce along the Arkansas River just prior to the Civil War, subsequently returning to build a mansion at 266 N. Main Street in Concord. And so on and so forth. Just one of a begillion families dating back to Africa. One of a begillion of families of heroes and bozos and working stiffs in a crazy world. But this family is ours, cousin!

I lived in the house directly across the road from the village hall between 1982 and 1998, my sister got married in that church... it was a lovely village to grow up in.. very sad to see that the white horse pub is no more...and there used to be two shops and village garages.. just all modern buildings in there place now☹ ....CRAP....

Thanks for watching Neil! My wife and I visited a few pubs in the area while we were there ... most notably the Five Bells. Great hospitality all around!

With the gravestones so worn down, do we know how the ancestry/findagrave records were sourced? - Another descendant here!
