These stories do make it seem that way, but that doesn't mean he can't fight for himself. Only that in these situations there were a bunch of guys that stepped in before someone could even get to him. As with anyone that has faithful followers, there will be people that take up for that person whether told to or not. These days you see it more with people going after one another online, but in the 90s, it was done in person.
