Is fibroadenoma the same as a cyst? How are they different? At 16 years old I found a small lump in my left breast which a surgeon removed, because it was the 80s I guess. He called it a fibroadenoma. Then at age 50 I found an olive sized lump in the same breast. I had an ultrasound and mammogram, and was reassured that it was "just a cyst". It remained there for the next several years and several yearly mammograms and was never remarked upon. Then in 2022 there was some concern with my mammogram, I went for a biopsy and I had IDC with a 4 cm tumour. I asked my surgeon what happened to the cyst and he said there was no cyst. Nobody can explain to me what happened. But I dearly wish they had done a biopsy when I first found that lump.
Fibroadenomas and cysts are different entities. They both don’t turn into cancers and can come a go. A cyst may be present one day and gone the next. I am sorry to hear about your cancer diagnosis. I hope your treatment went well.
I have fibroadenoma with size more than 15 cm and some are too small .In my both breast fibroadenoma number are more than 10 with small and big size my doctor who had done my ultrasound got shocked so much..... that all tha staff gathered to see my reports . Mam this is so rare and it's increasing i cant even go for surgery it will ruin my breat because fibroadenoma are too much. In number what should i do pls help meee
