I love the fact that he constantly drives the point it doesn't have to be equipment from his store, get what you can. It tells me he really loves doing it and profit isn't his main motivator

Finally! A professional! Someone that knows what they're talking about. AND...you have NOTES to help you remember what you want to cover, in what order. You have to be the first speaker I've seen on YT that has notes! Most folks just wing it and it shows repeatedly that they are just talking off the top of their head with little or more likely NO preparation.
    THANK YOU for your presentation.

Hey Dave, love the videos brother! Along with the items you have shown through out the videos I have also added a onion bag to my kit. I have found so many uses for this from a fishnet, or a crawfish/minnow trap to stuffing it with grass for a pillow. Not to mention the storage uses of it. Just wanted to share it with ya all I havent seen it on any of your videos but then again I havent watched them all yet either. Keep'em comin bro you are a walking encyclopedia of knowledge!!

I go back and watch these over and over. You remind me of my uncles but with an internet presence. I grew up in the woods but I’ve been able to build a good collection of bullet proof gear to make staying in the woods more comfortable.

I've been shopping at the pathfinder school store for about a year. Not only does he carry all of it, but the prices are better than I've found elsewhere. It always arrives quickly and is nicely packaged. Best part is, there is a tremendous sense of satisfaction from the fact that you are supporting the channel. It has become my go-to place to shop.

You never cease to increase my desire to come to one of your classes...and I will be coming next year for sure! I'm glad you pointed this out...sometimes it has to be said to make people understand that the best gear is the gear you have that you can comfortable use or learn what they like best. Also, it always comes across that you really love to teach and share what you've learned. Keep up the great work and the vids coming!

I also just wanted to say Dave I love that not only do you give us such detailed and straight-forward advice for free but you also interact with us on a one-to-one basis unlike some youtubers who act high and mighty. I disagreed with you on one of your other videos about hidden tangs not being as good as full tangs (given proper heat treatment & steel) and you responded respectfully and didn't talk down to me or block me. Keep being down to earth and an overall awesome teacher. :)

Hey dave. I was recommending your channel to a co-worker of mine who has recently taken an interest in self sustainability and self reliance. She's gotten on a smaller scale facebook version of survivor, and she really did well, really surprised me! She is undertaking a life changing diet type of situation starting this past week. I think that the pathfinder school is exactly what this kiddo needs. She's searching for her calling right now, and hasn't discovered yet quite exactly what the search is for. I consider myself no expert by any standards. I've watched thousands of yours and others videos about the outdoors hunting surviving striving videos, and have practiced many of the skills I've watched. I posess almost every item you mention in the video, but have never actually gone deep into the wild to test my ability. I offer advice and gear info and whatnot as much as I can, but this video is how I kept growing too lol. She doesn't earn a ton of money, which is also an attraction for her for self sustainability. Just by chance, I know this videos from 2012 this makes it perfect! I don't have the funds for her gear that she'd need, but I'd loan her almost all of my stuff that could help her..maybe for a Christmas special edition, could you possibly gift this gal a weekend at the pathfinder school? It would make my day to help her, it would make her day to blossom, and it would make your day to teach and encourage the youngsters how to survive in the wild! It's rare to hit the trifecta! Peace dave.

Thanks for sharing so much info online, I'm from the UK so I can't attend, but even if I could I'd have to pick some things up, I'm new to bushcrafting and love going basic and ultralight, skipping the luxuries. Camping out in the UK is a pain, even in summer (it rained all summer and we only had 154 hours of sunshine this year) but I like to think being used to rain is an advantage, it's the only way I can enjoy myself. Much love Dave! Keep being real.

This is great pre-training video! I attended a basic class in July, & it was great. Everyone brought different gear, and you get to see what works for you. If you don't get something, just ask. The staff has 100 ways of doing the same thing and 100 different ways of explaining the same thing. The end result is your will own the skills (I still owe a bow drill fire) if you make an effort. You think like a possum after this class. I am greatful to have had this instruction. Thank you Dave!...USAF

The issue of taking your classes isn't in the cost of supplies, or the cost of the class; it's in the travel costs! It would be great if you/your instructors traveled to major areas (ie: Sacramento, CA) and held classes. I belong to a non-extreme 'prepper' group that would easily take up 20+ places in just one of your classes, if we didn't have the travel expenses.

Dave, I've always thought that candles were great to have in a kit, so much so, that I usually carry two, one in a dedicated candle lantern and one as part of my fire kit. The cheap dripping candles work great at starting fires in wet conditions,(assuming of course that you can light the candle) and they can add a few degrees of heat inside your shelter. Candle wax can be used in waterproofing, lubricating and a dozen other applications. They don't need batteries. If you break one, you get two. They're reliable. They even start with the letter 'C'. But I've never heard you mention one. Am I wrong about candle power?

I have seen some of your videos and I like to see how to survive in the wilderness, one of my favorite videos is is how to make a bundle bow in the wilderness, but wouldn't it be easier and more effective if you made a finger-sling or a shepherds sling instead? A properly made finger sling can even throw a projectile farther than a bow can shoot. tell me what you think.

Hey Dave, I'm not much of a survivalist myself but have you ever considered including a shamagh in your kit rather than bandanas? They're somewhat unorthodox but I can attest to the fact that they work great in a variety of environments. I live in Colorado so the weather's always changing and I use mine all the time. Also, they're huge when unfolded so that might be useful. Thanks for the vids!
