  • This is a review of O'Reilly's GM power torque super thin low profile head locking indexable Flex head ratchet. I compare that various other ratchets and show how thin head ratchets need low profile sockets to maximize their usability.

Great review I do appreciate that you review tools we all can afford instead of leading people into the top brands Snap on etc.

Right off the bat, I don't like how much that button stands up.

Hey Catus, I just noticed that looks identical to my Michael Pro 3/8 flex head. Glad to know it was also under Power Torque, they usually have good tools. Even got metric and sae sockets, extention in a blue eva foam tray for $30!

I wish harbor freight would sell, low profile sockets. Also individual wrenches and sockets. You know, trying to build a really good set of sockets, a complete set of 3/8 , 6 and 12 point up to 24mm

That design do look quite slim and looks as if it can be put to use in assortment of ways not necessarily ment to be put under heavy load but to get in a particular position and place in order to remove something especially how you are demonstrating the ratchet with the low profile socket on the design of the ratchets locking mechanism it appears that it roughly sticks out slightly a bit much it looks like they could had designed the button slightly a little better but Great Review Great video

How about that. I’m doing a video on the same ratchet, it’s a nice selection from Power Torque , they have a small selection of decent tools

I have afew low profile head ratchet but I’m not entirely sold on the low profile/nano sockets, I’ve always just thought a regular wrench is lower profile

Got a snap on lock plus there is a lot of tools you can go with a lesser brands. But for professional use get a tool truck ratchet for 3/8 and 1/2.

I could buy three of these before buying one of the tool trucks. I try this stuff first and then if it fails then I'll move up.. still waiting for my cheap ratchets to fail to move into tool trucks.. been ten years so far. Still waiting.

Very nice ratchet, locking flex head would be the correct terminology if you were to search for that ratchet online.

I’ve noticed there really is a need for every style of flex head. Recently I had a hard to reach fastener that required a ratcheting wrench that didn’t lock. The handle itself needed to articulate between different peripheral parts of the motor so I could get a wider swing. I did have to get a couple of fingers to hold the wrench to the fastener. And to the evolutionists out there wondering we have pinkies-that’s why! We need a small finger to hold down our flex heads in those tight spots. And I always thought pinkies were useless.

Pinkies are useful for swearing oaths.

I like the guy doing the reviews but I think he may be wrong about this ratchet. Amazon review mention the flex angle release button being in a bad spot which you bump into and the ratchet angle unlocks. I could definitely see that. My ez-red flex has a lock on the side. That's a better design I think.

The flex head locking mechanism went bad within hours of acquiring this tool.

The indexing button ruins it for me, that sticks extremely far out

Juan Lopez I wouldn’t buy the Snap-on one except I am a student I get the discount but even with that it’s $75 it’s still a lot

The location of the release mechanisms for indexing is beyond terrible on that ratchet and it is too easy to bump. Can’t recommend it and actually returned that ratchet.

Same as TONE japan :/ they have cut the cord and are reaping their profit from the reputation so many japanese artisans earned for their nation.
