i finished season 4 last week and OH MY GODDDDD this is my favorite visualization of season 4 the visuals and timing all just come together makes my jaw drop
Argh i just commented yesterday but i keep watching this and god the sequence from 1:57 to 2:20 is such a fucking clever use of the medium. martin is seperate, isolated in his own panel, while the events of season four flash separately from him- showing his distance. but when jon goes into the coffin he realizes the danger and its enough for him to flash- disappear from his isolated panel, and reappear again when jon is safe and out. Then, again, when the fog of the lonely flows in martin leaves the panel again, crossing in front of it. theres a flash of the eye, and jon realizes martin is missing and leaves his own panel, following the same line of fog that breaks them out of the sequence and into the domain of the lonely. Like, what an incredibly clever way of showing what happened with limited time and images, all while following the flow and mood of the song. Like one of the smartest uses of your medium ive seen in a pmv, like ever.
There is so much in this that I know I'm going to notice when I rewatch it but firstly oh my god and secondly how are you real, this is incredible. The bit that stuck out to me most on my first was was 1:13, like HOW you got that so perfectly synced up with the music to quietly rip my heart out through my chest and present it to me still beating through the entire rest of the beautiful sadness of their story. Wow. Amazing.
Because of this animatic, whenever I listen to the song I'm reminded of TMA. Right at 0:53 when the drum kicks in is where I'm slapped with that love for TMA and it just gets me excited and give that need to come back to this video. ❤ I've finished TMA and currently waiting for the next episodes of TMP, so now that I understand this animation I'm a bit heartbroken at the same time full of attachment to these chatacters, I miss them so much I'm going wild and deranged 😂😂

Okay but the pacing on this is spectacular- the imagery with the music, but especially the fast flashes combined with the slow roll of the fog. Pairing text with images without leaving the viewer feeling rushed or bored is also rly hard and whoa!! Absolutely bonkers nailed it, I can't stop watching

I am an incredibly new fan of the Magnus Archives. I only came into it at the beginning of this year and I am thoroughly obsessed - as I'm sure that you, as well as so many others know the feeling of. But I just wanted to let you know I managed to stumble across your video and there is just so much - SO, so much to love about it. I've watched it - gosh, I can't even count.. at least once a day if not more. The music choice is absolutely lovely and melds into the theme of JonMartin and their budding relationship so perfectly and natural. But your animation is just incredible, your transitions, the way you chose to present your story and - UGH, there is just too much to keep rambling about. But the biggest thing is your character design for Jon is so perfect in my eyes. I love both him and Martin - but John.. SIGH. I'm glad that you chose to keep going beyond 3:15. this reminds me of scrolling flipnote on my dsi as a kid, and seeing lovely animations like this that made me start drawing more because I wanted to make things like them. this is beautiful, seriously.
Oh me too! Flipnotes kind of inspired me to make simple animations. I'm fulfilling that urge now because I could never get things to turn out on a tiny ds screen lol

Okay but the pacing on this is spectacular- the imagery with the music, but especially the fast flashes combined with the slow roll of the fog. Pairing text with images without leaving the viewer feeling rushed or bored is also rly hard and whoa!! Absolutely bonkers nailed it, I can't stop watching

I am an incredibly new fan of the Magnus Archives. I only came into it at the beginning of this year and I am thoroughly obsessed - as I'm sure that you, as well as so many others know the feeling of. But I just wanted to let you know I managed to stumble across your video and there is just so much - SO, so much to love about it. I've watched it - gosh, I can't even count.. at least once a day if not more. The music choice is absolutely lovely and melds into the theme of JonMartin and their budding relationship so perfectly and natural. But your animation is just incredible, your transitions, the way you chose to present your story and - UGH, there is just too much to keep rambling about. But the biggest thing is your character design for Jon is so perfect in my eyes. I love both him and Martin - but John.. SIGH.

This is so good?????????????????? I was on the edge of my seat sense midnight for the video to go live. No joke I almost passed out. It’s so well done!! The movement is amazing, and the drawings themselves are sososososoososososososo good, the compositions of all of the shots is gorgeous, and the callback to the beginning where Jon is asleep at his desk with a blanket,,, and then later Jon Knowing Martin put it there::;;;:,- I am so emo over this
