Bought this game, and decided to play it one night after watching a "Let's Play" video.... 3 hours later after having to read the entire rule book to understand the game, we moved our heroes one place; did the tile and packed up for the night after running out of time lol. Second day, we got a game going (Introduction scenario) and really enjoyed it and looking forward to our next play. Yes, this isn't a 10/10 game, but it is fun, and i'm glad i bought it. Also planning on getting the extra factions too.
Lots of mistake was made through this playthrough, but then again, the rulebook isn't very well writen and its the first time. You missed that you start with bronze building, which allows you too recruite all bronze units from turn 1. You can use the battlefield expantion map instead of the simplefied battle board, if you want a more deep experience.
A few misplays, a lot of confusion (which is expected) but it's not a 10/10 anyway. It gets better on Hard and playing 1-on-1 but its still like a 6/10. Also Necromancy is esentially 50% off for ALL Necro upgrades. It's actually very good.
The game is really good after you know the rules. Played a copule of times already at its a great heroes 3 experience. The guys here didnt learn rules before sitting to playing the game which made the whole thing worse
This is really not a game you can learn as you play. There are too many rules and the rulebook can be confusing to reference if you haven't read through it first. Prepare, read the rules cover to cover, watch a how to play before you start your game - your experience will be so much better. Even just one person at the table who knows the rules inside out will mean your game goes from a grind to a much smoother experience.
Hate the 9+ notification bell in youtube... i'm always trying to click on it thinking it's my account.... I can't stand having notifications unattended. xD
Thdy played it pretty wrong and complains are sometimes even stupid. For examole necromancy... Most of those that are already playing it say this card is too strong. And Alex cries about that it only reduce 50%..... Guess he does not care for balance....
@@sagittariusa9012 Try reading the message boards for the game and the reviews. There are PLENTY of issues with it. Don't attack playtesters who try to highlight the game.
@@katarhall3047 Ofc there are issues, like the rulebook. But a 1/5 rating isn't near objective. Especially when in the end reviews come like "just play the oc game". And also some issues they mention like not able to recruit at the start of the game aren't an issue because they just play wrong (you have most of the time starting buildings they forgot) and also such things like i mentioned with necromancy. And also the board game gave a 8.2/10 on boardgamegeeks, which is pretty good.
@@sagittariusa9012 That's a bald faced lie and I'm calling YOU out for it. A 1/5 can easily be objective, if the problems are present, which with this game, there are. The rulebook alone is a massive issue which has been called out ACROSS the board on multiple reviews and sites, as well as huge balance issues. Playing wrong is fine, but there are problems beyond that. Necromancy is already being called out also on forums for problems. So it sounds like YOU are trying to silence negative comments against the game. Especially when you think a BGG rating "automatically" means it's good. Huge holes in your logic all over the place.

Really fun game to play. The rewritten rules are a little more clear.

Looks like a good solo game. Way too much for even the most dedicated group to play.
