"dipping her hand into sacks of grains". I do that every time I go grocery shopping. Sometimes I look around and feel embarrassed because it's something little kids do, I still do it even though I'm 21.
0:13 The Canal Saint-Martin scene always gets me by the way of the creative sweeping cinematography combined wtih the cascading piano notes of Yann Tiersen's Comptine d`un autre ete which altogether encapsulates the lone simple pleasure that Amelie takes in stone skipping.
Some movies just leave you with a desire for certain feelings that you want to experience in your real life. Had to sleep two nights over it to get a clear head again.
I kid you not. I named my daughter Amelie after this movie. She is 6 now and I love her as much as I love this movie. Which should say a lot. kudos, my hat is off. Tell everyone about this movies. It somehow always makes me weep
+luminarification That's so lovely. I love this movie so much and have seen it a 100 times. It's beguilingly beautiful and I have never seen anything like it:))
I've seen this movie a long time ago, but I will watch it the next days for a second time :-) I love 'Comptine d'un autre ete', it's so beautiful, I would like to play it on piano ♥
@Cla900 Me too, I feel that way too. But I use fantasy for books I'm writing about, it really helps. Don't feel like you're alone, there's others like u 2! :))
@@Joe_Parmesan Films by The Coen Brothers and Paul Thomas Anderson(the one who made "There Will Be Blood" with Daniel Day Lewis) I also recommend with Anderson(even though Anderson may contain SOME sense of orientalism at times(i.e. all the Japanese characters in Isle of Dogs speaking untranslated Japanese while the dogs speak regular english), but I wouldn't push that too much, but just so you are aware).
I've seen this film twice and could see in thrice times more. It transcends the art form. Put the CD in your cars palyer and rush hour and it feels like a dance! Le plus parfait film de monde~!
A funny scene from a beautiful movie, along with one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard - Comptine D'un Autre Été, L'apres-Midi by Yann Tersen. Just outstanding!
Agreed although this goes further into the random coincidences that occur throughout life (similar to Mind Game). It is also about the power of one's personal reality rather than simply having good deeds unable to warrant good results; if by the end Amelie remained alone then the theme would be more appropriate yet her actions are rewarded by the end of the narrative. The simplicity is fooling; the production value (or mise-en-scene for any film buffs) of this film is actually quite complex.
Maybe religious, but boring? I don't believe someone from abroad could write that. ;) You are even against stereotypes about Poland. It's not something bad, I'm just shocked. :)
@MrEllenwork I'll try. There are lots people who are shy, and Amelie is painfully so. I can identify with that, as well as admiring the craftsmanship of the writer and director. You can be neutral about the French and still admire the movie. And, it's "life-affecting." "effect" and "affect" give lots of people trouble so don't feel bad. Cheers.
watched this movie in french class a few years ago. what a pity that it was in french and i couldnt understand shit what they were saying and totally missed that the film is actually quite well
I can't stand that sound. It sounds like cracking a ROCK. Caramel is hard stuff, but it's good. I would just ask the maître d' to have it "precracked" for me instead.
I always think about this scene when I think about enjoying the little things
Enjoying the repacks*

Same
Me too, at the time the scene right after this one was so intriguing to me I didn’t get it lol 😂
Mine too, it's truly amazing!!!
Can't relate more
Same here, I’m 34 and I cry every time I watch this like it’s the first time I’m watching it
When they said on the film poster, "she'll change your life" it is not a lie, Amelie is a real life changing and everybody need to watch it

This masterpiece is a psychedelic trip in the form of a film.
I don’t blame her I have the same hobbies as she does 😇
@MrEllenwork I'll try. Amelie is painfully shy. And there's lots of shy people who identify with that.
And, by the way, it's life-affecting.
Cheers.

Whaaaat but the question!
What man wouldn't like a girl like Amelie?

This movie is amazing. I love the introductions to the characters. One of my favorite things about it!
I just realised how Amelie and I are alike
Are you still alike after 10 years?
If you like this, check "Foutaises" Likes and dislikes, one of Jean Pierre Jeunet's short films from 1989.

I mean this in no condescending way whatsoever but the French there should've been: Le film le plus parfait du monde.
