- To conclude my Fall 2017 road trip I arrive in Florida coming from Georgia. I stay at Fort Clinch State Park, on Amelia Island, near Fernandina Beach. The sunset and sunrise were amazing.

My husband and I stayed at Fernadina Beach September of 2016.We dined at the Salty Pelican with a couple from Yulee we met at the beach.We really had a great time on this vacation It is a beautiful beach with lots to see and do.We visited St Augustine too another beautiful historic place to see!!

The beautiful ocean waves, the gorgeous sky, I love Florida. I am so happy you take us to all the places in Florida that I have never had the chance to visit. I always wanted to live in Florida but it never worked out. Thank goodness I can travel with you on UA-cam.

I've stayed at that marina you showed on a 35" sail boat I was taking from Gwynn's Island VA to Titusville FL. Lots of really old bars in town filled with the interesting locals. I've also stayed in that Hampton Inn and got luckily enough to get room with a view of the marina, So I could watch the sunset right from my room.
My wife and I really appreciate all the work and your videos you make. You are now our favorite rv channel.
Back in the 1960s when my family used to camp at Ft Clinch, there was a back way in/out, which got you out of the park sooner, but it was still a drive to town. Now that road says: dead end and you will come to a locked gate at the park boundary which keeps you from getting on to the highway. (I see you found it!) We camped at Ft Clinch multiple times, mostly in the river campground, but once in the ocean campground. They used to come through with a truck every evening which fogged the area with insecticide to keep the bugs at bay.
We did a road trip (no RV, just a rental SUV) from Annapolis to our home in Pompano just last October. Did A1A as much as we could. That campsite at Ft Clinch is the reason we are going to the RV show next week in Palm Beach. The other campground I guess ocean side had no shade at all, but it is a great place, Amelia Island. Love your videos! ....I woke up the other night with a song in my head, a bit of fuzz, and some horns. I was like, Oh! That's Roberts!
We were fortunate to be camping there when they still had ranger guided tours around 2007, and my son even got to dress like a soldier of the time. We had a great time at that campground.
Traveling Robert - loved the video. Very in depth. First I've seen of your videos. I was watching another Fernandina video and yours popped up afterwards. Around 32 minute mark you go to our city park where you can launch kayaks. I said that might be my truck as me and my boy go there often. My boy comes over and says that's you kayaking Dad! And so it was my truck, me kayaking, and you can just barely see my boy running on the dock. Small world! We'll be checking out more of your videos. Thanks

Coquina was quarried to build, but they made sort of a man-made coquina by burning oyster shells for lime, then combining it and sand and more shells, similar to the way we combine Portland cement and aggregate to make concrete. This is called tabby, just ike the cat, and there is a lot of it in the coastal southeast.

So, the more I watch the video, I notice you mention Georgia is visible. Cumberland Island is just North of Amelia Island. I was lucky enough to get to go to Cumberland Island to work, when I was doing stucco. It is mostly uninhabited, except for an old hotel, and the Rockefellers own a few homes. There are wild horses, and the ocean side of the island is one of the most beautiful places I've ever had the privilege of seeing. I wish more could see it, but also glad it's off limits to the general public. Absolutely beautiful on Cumberland Island. One more thing, the green house you saw with the turret room, that you said looked funky, is the house they shot Pippi Longstocking in
@catmodelt Yeah, I was super lucky to be able to go work over there. I believe the last hurricane that destroyed the docks is what made them stop taking tours. I actually live in Yulee

Thanks for sharing, Robert. I am from Jacksonville (but now living in Virginia), and I have stayed at LIttle Talbot Island state camground with my RV, which is only minutes away from Fort Clinch. I tried to go to Fort Clinch once, but I never could find the entrance to the campground. BTW, I used to have a small travel trailer, but I now have a Class B, and I enjoy being able to park in small historic towns like St. Augustine and take a walk around and have lunch... that's the added joy of Class B living :-)
It's funny watching someone drive through my home town. I haven't lived there in almost a decade, but I'm moving back to Fernandina in a month! =D

Hi Robert, last month i went to Little Talbot State park. Its like Fort Clinch SP, but more remote less crowded and no touristy areas. If you like nature, no development, natural sand dunes this is the place for you. Cool walking and bike trails. Down the road is the confluence of the St. John's river and the Atlantic. Right there is Mayport NAS. Amazing place a must see.

This area is maybe my favorite place in FL. We've got to go again....!! One neat memory was viewing a nuclear sub slipping down the river and out to sea....from the top of the Fort Clinch wall. Enjoy your videos. We are long time RVers...just got a 2106FBS Micro Minnie....loving it.

Coming back to Miami made me feel depressed. My family and I are actually thinking of moving out of here and go to the Fernandina Beach area. Much slower pace of life and friendlier people.

Another great one Robert! As far as the sensors go, forget about it! I have the same problem in my Jayco 154bh. I have learned how long it takes to fill the tanks and never even look at the sensor panel anymore! Even after cleaning out he tanks they will work right for one day. Just enjoy your trips (as we do) life is to short to worry about things like that.

You use dump stations a lot where as full hookups you can use black tank flush if you have. Otherwise, throw a couple bags of ice in black tank when leaving, this should dislodge waste off sensors. Try that.

We very much enjoyed our visit to Amelia Island as well. Watch out for the protected gopher tortoises in Amelia Island. They are beautiful, but slow so they need protecting. But don't place them in the water! They can't swim...
Robert, when your trailer is parked at home fill the black up with water...to the top.... and some enzyme.
