I remember 2009 when I heard his audition the first time. I have many auditions saved on my YT list. I listen to this all the time. On of the best. And what a story.
That guy also has an amazing story. Won Swedish idol in 2009. Auditioned with 18 and Life with Skid Row and won it all. He was singer after that in the swedish hardrock band Heat. During that time he played a role in Jesus Christ Superstar on Broadway with John Legend and Alice Cooper. A couple of years ago he left Heat and wanted to do something else in his Life but became sick in leukemia. He battled the dieses and came out as a winner. Then his favorit band Skid row contacted him and he became a member. They released an album and tour the world. Erik left skid row a couple of months ago due to his immune system has been weak after the sickness. He felt he couldnt hold the band back whenever he became cold and sick when they toured. 😊
When I heard that this was a rock version of "I Will Always Love You", I kept waiting for the beat to drop and for the craziness to start. Instead, it stayed sweet for a while and then he broke out the power rock voice. And he did the key change so beautifully. This is one of the most awesome performances I have ever heard.
I recently purchased Skid Row's Live in London album, not knowing Gronwall was the singer. When I first listened to it, I thought it was a young Sabatian Bach singing until I read afterward that it was Gronwall singing. Since then, I have become a huge fan of his, listening to just about everything he has done. The man can flat-out sing with the best of them. He sang on Michael Schenker's recently released My Years With UFO and sang Mother Mary. I understand that he will be touring with Schenker starting April 2025 to support the album.
I would say, most rock and metal singers have an extremely good vocal control and vocal ability. They can sing anything, high and low, and it doesn't sound stupidly flat as when pop artists try to sing power metal. Erik Grönwall is epicly good.
Erik really nailed the song "that no man can sing". Excellent version, Whitney must look at him from the muscial heaven and have a big smile on her face.
Rock/metal singers are often better than most pop singers. You need to explore metal/rock even more. You will discover vocalists that will blow your mind.
I really ❤ Erik's covers. His voice is fantastic. Discovered him from the song he sang with Dan Vasc another great vocalist. Also ❤ Tommy J from Sweden. Tommy sings but he can play multiple instruments. My days are better with a little music. ❤ from a 🇨🇦 Grammy.
He's good, right up there with Whitney's version. I can see Dolly now watching this. With a little giggle, "my little song"....She is so amazing and generous and has always had praise for anyone singing her music...
If you wanna hear another swede with a great voice, do Tommy johansson. Ex-lead guitarist from Sabaton. He drops a new cover every friday. He has even done one with Eric. Try Shes gone.
Great reaction. Other covers made by Erik you don't want to miss are headless cross - Black Sabbath Painkiller - Judas Priest Without you - Mariah Carey God will cut you down - Jonny Cash
I really love his take on this song. You guy’s should check out Dolly Parton singing this. She actually wrote this song for her friend when she was moving on from his tv variety type show.
FYI guys, Whitney Houston’s version is a cover. The song was already about 18 years old when she recorded it. It was originally written and recorded by Dolly Parton in the 1970s. In fact Elvis wanted to cover it but his manager insisted that he get a writing credit. Dolly said no way. Elvis did not write any of his songs but his manager got him writing credit on several of them. The song writer would agree because they figured that if Elvis sang their song it might be a hit.
New subscriber here! 👋 Erik is a BEAST! He just released a cover of O Holy Night for the holidays and THAT one blew my face off. You should react to that one. Be ready! 🔥 😅
I just wonder how low he can go. He hits those high notes with ease I dont think these guys are even in the same room. I wonder who put down the first track?
Erik became famous winning Swedish Idol 2009 . Then he was a lead vocalist of the band HEAT. Then he got sick of leukaemia and survived it. Skid Row actively recruited him as a lead vocalist in 2022 and recorded a great album with him called The Gang’s All Here , their best since Slave to the grind. He left Skid Row because his health was still fragile from the cancer despite he is cancer free. Heavy touring exhausted him. He is taking it slow now doing covers.
If you check out his spotify page you will see there is literally nothing he can't sing and own it. His version of Headless Cross is absolutely perfect. He even released an original country song called 'sex on the beach' that could easily be a top country song.
He could be a pop singer? Rock and death metal vocalists are the most educated singers we have! Many of them even is educated by opera singers so yes, Erik and others would rule the pop genre without trying....
You should listen to Erik Grönwall sing (Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You, it's the best cover I heard since Whitney Huston did her cover in/from the movie Bodyguard). You should even look/listen to him sing Mariah Carey's Without You, John Farnham's You're the voice, Eric Carmen's (Celine Dion) All by myself, Oh Holy Night and The Animals House of the rising sun, they are also truly amazing! In 2009, Erik won Swedish Idol and performed the specially written song Higher in the final. On March 23, 2022, it was announced by Eddie Trunk that Grönwall is replacing ZP Theart as the lead singer of Skid Row. In March 2024, Erik announced that he was leaving Skid Row for health reasons after being diagnosed with leukemia. His first single, "Higher", reached gold on digital downloads after only three days. His debut album, self-titled Erik Grönwall, was released just ten days after the finals and debuted at number one on the Swedish albums chart and was certified platinum. Both as a solo artist and band member, Grönwall has numerous top 40 hits.
Erik is great. Shame his health is holding him back from touring. First got my attention playing Simon in NBC’s live Jesus Christ Superstar. Amazing! Great talent and seems like a really good guy too.
Erik stepped down from Skid Row to focus on his health after being diagnosed with leukemia. He has a few solo works he has released He did a cover of a Johnny Cash Song called God's Gonna Guy You Down and Dream On By Aerosmith
In older rock/metal (70's/80's) it wasn't to unusual for the singers to go really high, like for example Ronnie James Dio from Rainbow and Dio (and a stint in Black Sabbath) or Rob Halford from Judas Priest.
When u do covers like this of legends you have to be PERFECT, BUT! You dont have to destroy them as Erik does... not blaming him but his raw, insane talent... I thought Dimash Kuidabergen was the peak of human capabilitys but Erik can probably do all 6 octaves with rasp and more soul... (wich i prefer)
Its NOT a cover of Whitney Houston. Dolly Parton wrote this song, in 1974 as a tribute to her then Television partner, Porter Wagoner. Dolly took this song to #1 on the charts, twice....before Whitney did her cover. Dolly then took it to #1 2 more times after Whitney covered her. If yiu have a chance....do some research on this. Its fascinating!!
The sound in the room you speak in sounds like it looks like. It echoes since you have nothing on the walls and no furniture. You should fix that for a better sound.
I have seen Erik Gronwall sing a lot of songs on UA-cam and I am beginning to think he might be the best singer around now !
Rock singers don't need autotune and that. This is pure amazing singing💯🇸🇪
I remember 2009 when I heard his audition the first time. I have many auditions saved on my YT list. I listen to this all the time. On of the best. And what a story.

And this is pure unmixed voice.
😂no it is not ? What do you mean unmixed? Full Chest ? Funny 😂
I felt that song in my soul.
Dude has a set of pipes. What an amazing voice.
He's on another level
I would say, most rock and metal singers have an extremely good vocal control and vocal ability.

Evereone should know that Dolly wrote it. Really bad that they did not give her credit in this video. Shame on them.
Vilken röst 🥰
He's mostly a classic heavy metal singer and they always sing in this range.
Thanks for reacting, awesome!
Darealdeal
You should react to Carolus Rex a Sabaton-cover with Erik Grönwall and Tommy Johansson that is really good.
I heard someone say,if rock singers started singing pop,pop singers would be out of work. The grapevine never lies,js 🌞
New subscriber here! 👋 Erik is a BEAST! He just released a cover of O Holy Night for the holidays and THAT one blew my face off. You should react to that one. Be ready! 🔥 😅
WOW Erik Grønnwall and u TWO are in to it
Nothing beats good sax.
I just wonder how low he can go. He hits those high notes with ease
I dont think these guys are even in the same room. I wonder who put down the first track?
Check out his cover of Johnny Cash's "God will cut you down" for his low notes.
He is amazing, check out All by myself and With out you.❤

Dolly Parton! Go Erik, nice cover
He could be a pop singer? Rock and death metal vocalists are the most educated singers we have! Many of them even is educated by opera singers so yes, Erik and others would rule the pop genre without trying....
Who want to be a pop singer??Auto tune and shite
It’s actually a cover of Dolly Parton, Whitney Houston was a cover as well
Yes. The carolus rex with Tommy Johansson. It's just amazing! Know you guys like Tommy😊
You should listen to Erik Grönwall sing (Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You, it's the best cover I heard since Whitney Huston did her cover in/from the movie Bodyguard).

the song was originally a Dolly Parton song covered by Whitney Houston. He covered the whitney version.
❤
Erik is great. Shame his health is holding him back from touring. First got my attention playing Simon in NBC’s live Jesus Christ Superstar. Amazing! Great talent and seems like a really good guy too.
Try his covers of alone , without you , and take on me
Considering it was written and recorded by Dolly Parton
Erik stepped down from Skid Row to focus on his health after being diagnosed with leukemia. He has a few solo works he has released He did a cover of a Johnny Cash Song called God's Gonna Guy You Down and Dream On By Aerosmith
I would love to see kiske and erik do a duett
Woha Good reaction !,time to check out Tommy J , why dont start with Eric and Tommys duett ..
Check out the band h.e.a.t. from sweden, and he also was the lead singer of Skid Row for a couple of years.
Check his cover of Painkiller by Judas Priest. Or his stuff as a vocalist of Skid Row.
You should really check out god will cut you down cover and also his journey covers. Yhea or all his amazing songs
This is a Dolly Parton song. Her version is the best!!
I thought Phil was looking good these days and Sam looked especially buff - then I realized they've just switched sides on our screens.
whitney is also a cover, give credit where credit is due
In older rock/metal (70's/80's) it wasn't to unusual for the singers to go really high, like for example Ronnie James Dio from Rainbow and Dio (and a stint in Black Sabbath) or Rob Halford from Judas Priest.
Have you heard Erik’s version of Rainbow in the Dark? AMAZING!
This dude just kicked whitney's ass out of the water. lol omg.
Please listen to Journey’s song Lay It Down with the one and only Steve Perry! The notes he hits on this song are crazy!
Why did you two switch sides? Didn't think we'd notice? Trying to confuse us?
React to his version of “Chandelier”
The wild part is I think he actually sounds like Whitney Houston during some segments o.O
See his collage with DAB vask
Try Tommy Johansson... Ex-Sabaton guitarist. musical jack-of-all-trades. if you liked this, you'll love him.
I think the original is Dolly Parton, but Whitney Houston 😊
Its NOT a cover of Whitney Houston. Dolly Parton wrote this song, in 1974 as a tribute to her then Television partner, Porter Wagoner. Dolly took this song to #1 on the charts, twice....before Whitney did her cover. Dolly then took it to #1 2 more times after Whitney covered her. If yiu have a chance....do some research on this. A rock singer doing a cover of Whitney Houston doing a cover of the original song by Dolly Parton lol. Interesting right 🤣
Dolly Parton wrote it but whitney made it big.
And Dolly made a lot of money. ❤ Dolly
The sound in the room you speak in sounds like it looks like. It echoes since you have nothing on the walls and no furniture. You should fix that for a better sound.
Mid tier Swedish singer...its in our blood...
Always funny to hear people who "know" how people should sing talk.. Clowns
You guys are doing great. I believe this guy is trying too hard
. Too much screaming for this song.
Yes he sings like that in everything he sings
