    Good video Jerry!!! I know a couple of thing I know the audio control epic center offer two good things more bass notes added and they offer the pick between 2, 4,5, 6 volts out I believe, and another good quality meter is ideal I have that clamps ac and dc volts, and last thing last year at meca final a dude that 164 dB try to help a dude set his gain and he was trying to measure the volt by putting the meter probe across the positive and negative on the rca cable blew my mind!!!

    If I say "gain is 1/2 or 1/3 way up" I mean yes it could be more without clipping but at the low level it is, I'm happy with and it's plenty loud and the amp isn't stressed

    Yeah I have a taramps bass 8K on a alpine 175 head unit 5v and what I do is set mine at the head unit to subwoofer level 8 of 15 that way I get a boost of RCA voltage and I can reduce my gain to about a halfway setting and I don't reach clipping until 32 of 35 on my head unit and get a cleaner output.

  • @1-Six-dee
    @1-Six-dee 2 роки тому +1

    Even the smart fives don't like the hi rca output I keep them at 1.2 or 1.3 tdh deh80 counts pretty clean up until that point after that it starts jumping tenths every one or two volume levels

    I bought a meter off Amazon that is Bluetooth It will let u read the amperage remotely, I use an old phone and clamp my charging wires while at shows to make sure my vcm is doing its job as my alts heat my vcm has to be adjusted to compensate

    Loudness low middle high will effect your Headunit output voltage , Bass Boost will effect it , EQ will effect it
    So you are correct

    Something for people to consider with rca voltage and gains the db level of the test tone you use. Hook your multimeter to your rca turn your head unit up to your max clean volume and play a -10 db 40hz tone. Read the voltage. Then while it's still playing play a -5db 40 hz test tone then a 0db and watch the voltage change. Knowing this could save a sub. My amps input is pretty sensitive. I have my amp set to 700 watts with a -10db tone. If I play a -5db it goes from 700 watts to over a 1000 and a 0db tone is almost 1400. I've got three songs on my play list I gotta watch out for. Everything is still clean no clipping but my sub will start to heat up after about a minute into one of these songs. From being over powered. My sub is 900 watts rms. Every other song it would play all day without getting hot. On that note a good song for seeing what your sub/enclosure will do is Thirty Three by Smashing Pumpkins. If your tuned low.

  • @0XxDOMESHOTxX0
    @0XxDOMESHOTxX0 2 роки тому +1

    The problem is the gain does make it louder even though we say it doesn’t. I clip the hell out of my amp for burps and my power goes from 6k clean to almost 8k dirty lol. But I run Korean of course and keep my rca voltage at 5.5v just so I have a little wiggle room on the gain knob since mine goes from 6v-.2v

    • @JerryAintloud
      @JerryAintloud  2 роки тому

      yup I did a video , on when to clip. it's on here and yes I set clean at vol 32 with a -5db 40 hz tone. BUT when I burp i use a 0db tone to push me into clipping. even did it with taramps.

    ive got the jumper on my output volatge at 10v on my audio control dm608 into a RF power t1500.1bdcp and it slams. my gain is set at 9 out of 11. i think the limit on input voltage for RF stuff is 10v

    Howzit Jerry, supporting all the way from South-Africa, you ever had anyone testing on a Soundigital amplifier? What input volts works best on them, and whats your opinion on entry level alpine headunits, i dont see much of you big guys running alpine headunits overseas.

    OK I have two class d jp23 and a 8k taramps 2ohm version theirs not much of a difference? I know the 8k doesn't suck a lot of current compared to the class d amplifiers and far as voltage gains I set mine until it clips half way is way to much on the gain?

    Here is one for you.a lead acid battery to run the car but you have a sealed lithium in the back.some run them together and so put a solenoid and charge the lithium in the back but keep them separated.

    On the multimeter note I got a $15 kobalt mm and it reads down to .2 volts

    When i set my gains i always set my head unit's eq where i like the sound with bass level at 0. So i dont have to go back and re adjust anything as its already accounted for. This goes for everything in the line dsp,eq,etc.until i get to the amp.

    • @jkstdstang
      @jkstdstang 2 роки тому +1

      This is how I set mine up also. Adjust head unit EQ , turn up sub level to get RCA voltage closer to max output and then set sub amp gain.

    I have low volume, and once I reach 20 of 30 volume in my head unit, It starts distortion. I have adjusted the gains at volume 18, engine stopped, 12,7 volts, but volume is still poor. I bought a line driver, 6 channel (in the front of the line driver you can read: 24 dB, 13 volts pk-pk ). I only need 4 volts, only a little adjust in the potenciometer, but I have read this is my solution. At the moment, I am having an issue, when i put volume at 20-22: My rockford fosgate t1000-BDCP works fine, but my alpine PDX-V9 goes to protect. I tested and had the same problem in my home and in another car. If I put high volume, the amplifier goes to protect, after one or two minutes. As it occurs in different places, and I spent hours and hours checking installations, speakers... I know the problem is in the amplifier or MAY BE THIS IS A CLIPPING PROTECTION?. All the way, I hope the line driver solve my problem. What´s Your opinion about that?.

    • @ceciljones1248

      You don't have enough voltage You are running off the batteries it's clipping because you don't have enough current supply upgrade alternator and multiple batteries with a big three upgrade also

  • @justinatmidi
    @justinatmidi 2 роки тому

    One question......if you tune your amp while your battery is putting out 12.6v, and then when it goes up to 14v, will it clip?
