Hello Beryl, thankyou so much for this wonderful opportunity! i’m glad you’re spreading the love of panipuri to the world ♥️♥️ (p.s - i’m the fat dude at 9:11 lol )
If you have regular flour, potatoes & Indian spices, you're in business. I have made it from scratch for my son's birthday, him & his friends, not to mention my family, had a blast. Buy the dips/ chutney & you're set. Have the little pooris made in advance. Mostly we don't add onions...sprouted & parboiled moong bean is more common. The filling is moong bean, potato mash & then the two chutneys according to taste.
you can order them from some indian restaurants on uber eats! i do it sometimes when i can't make it to the indian store. expensive but a good way to get introduced!
Dear Beryl, I’d never heard of Pani Puri, and living in the UK with such a huge Indian population and Indian restaurants, I was like, why don’t we have this here? (At least not in any of the restaurants I’ve been in) so I bought all the ingredients online to make them, followed your recipe, and as the lady in the video says, I waited for the universe to change. And holy moly, did it change. So thanks for giving us so many cultural foods to think about and try.

Pani Puri is really diverse itself tbh. It's eaten all around the Indian Subcontinent! It's called Gol Gappa in Northern India, Pani Puri in Western India (Maharashtra), Puchka in Eastern India, Paani Patasha in the state of Haryana, and Gupchup in some other parts of the country. Tunisian food has never been featured, and honestly not just here, but it is almost never featured in any around the world foods, we're either being grouped with the Arab foods or the Mediterranean food and that's about it! But I believe Tunisian food is one of the best out there!! Spiced, spicy, sweet.. you name it! and it is definitely different than other Arabic, north African, or Mediterranean cuisines! My favorite Tunisian street food is Fricassé ♥ It is a fried dough stuffed with harissa, boiled potatoes, boiled eggs, tuna, and olives. I like mine spicy with extra harissa, and I usually eat 3 to 4 pieces every time, with a little, nontraditional, squeeze of lemon. Other Tunisian street foods that are sooooo delicious and definitely worth mentioning are Lablebi, Brik, Chappati, Malfouf, Mlewi, Ma9loub, Kafteji, Bambalouni, Jwejem.... You should definitely feature Tunisian Food in your videos! It is very very very very delicious ♥
One of my favorite food authors has a whole chapter about Tunis in one of her memoirs. She talks about her and a friend going there, and her friend not waiting to learn how to eat a brik, and she ends up squirting egg all over her face! Maybe making brik will be my next project.
@@erinhowett3630 I cook Brik at home at least once every week ♥ I love it so much and I think it is very delicious there is no way anyone wouldn't like it! You should definitely make it ♥
I haven't had Fuchka for 2 years since this pandemic and literally crying now! CRAVING INTENSIFIED! Also thank you so much! My heart feels so happy that you enjoy Pani Puri so much! ❤️
Make your own paani and puri Nuzhat. Lots of youtube videos that show how to make both. Use your own mineral water. Add your own fav. ingredients in the water. The most basic ingredients that add explosion of flavor is minced mint leaves & cilantro leaves, very tiny piece of ginger(optional), green chili (1) if you like spicy, black salt, ground fennel seed(gives fantastic flavor 1/4tsp), Amchur powder & chaat masala; a small pinch of both(avl. in Indian store) : ) life is short, eat panipuri. Its our family favorite!
@@trehandeepa8251 Well, I know that it's easy and there are so many tutorials out there. It's just that my country is in lockdown and mentally, it's not feasible to spice up things actually :'(
Lol here in India while eating it on streets we sometimes compete with the person who has accompanied to see how many pani puris we can have in one go and once I ended up eating 40 pani puris😂.
8:17 I am from Kolkata. Some Christian communities, here in Kolkata, host sports events and eating competitions during Christmas. There was this one time a distant cousin of mine participated in a Phuchka (Pani-Puri) eating competition. The rules were that you have to eat as many Phuchkas you possibly can within the span of a minute. He had 23 Phuchkas in a minute and won the competition.

Pani Puri is the bomb!!!!!!!! Discovered it in a little hawker place in Sydney, Australia. Excellent Indian cuisine and street food everywhere. I’m Chilean too, and my favourite street food are equally (drink, moté con huesillo) and completó italiano con palta and of course Empanadas de pino. Love your channel 💖
Hi Beryl, thank you for this video! I love your channel, it’s so informative whilst bringing all these different cultures together through food. I’m lucky enough to have tried Pani Puri and it really is delicious! I’m from West Yorkshire, England - my favourite typical British street food is definitely either pork pies, (has to be proper Melton Mowbray ones) ... or fish and chips! And if you’re having fish and chips, it’s got to be served with scraps (the little batter bits from the fryer) mushy peas, and chip shop gravy. Perfect! 😃
PLEASE TRY TAKOYAKI FROM JAPAN! It is an absolute must, though considering your previous job you might have tried it before, but it's still worth it. If not that, you should make MITARASHI-DANGO, dango with syrup!
My favorite Indian Street food! When we were preparing for my sister's wedding in Baroda, I would go shopping for gifts and accessories but instead I was actively chasing down Pani Puri carts 😹 I still got my suit ready at Raymond's on time.
Next time when you got to Vadodara, try mahakali Sev usal, Shriram tum-tum, Jagdish leelo chevdo, Manmohan Samosa, Bhai bhai dabeli, Raaju omelette and Dooliram penda. Vadodara is famous for these dishes.

Hello shristi,, i saw your answer on Quora in which you wrote about your skin conditions. I was just going through the comments and saw your name. And see my name is also shrishti!!!!🙋
I watched this video and absolutely HAD to try this! But I live in Southeast Alaska, where tbh I have never met an Indian person before so finding Indian food in my part of the world is pretty much impossible. So I ordered this 'kit' on Amazon that would have all the stuff, it finally came the other day in the mail but it didn't come with the Pani Puri Water or the chutney. This is really weird because the instructions on the box say to mix the powdered Pani Puri sachet and the powdered chutney sachet with water and mix; why would they not include those items in the box but include them in the instructions? I've only got the fragile/mostly broken from the trip puri and the little boondi things. Gonna make it work though, I'm sure I can find the recipes for the water and chutney online and I'm still excited to try this!
Hey Beryl. I am Gorishaa Soni from Chandigarh, India and one of my favorite street food dish is CHOLE BHATURE. I used to live in southern CA and loved tacos in corn tortillas with lime, cilantro, radishes and homemade salsas. I usually like carnitas or carne asada.
My favorite street food has to be Kwek Kwek. They're like bright orange, deep fried coated quail or chicken eggs you can dip in either vinegar, spicy vinegar, or a sweet sauce. You can also eat them on their own. They're quite cheap too, so they made great snacks during my college days. Sending love from the Philippines.
i am balikbayan in the united states, and i have heard about kwek kwek, but what i remember most is the quail eggs they would sell on the side of the road on the drive from manila up to the province... the eggs are simply boiled in shell and they come in the skinny bag with the salt packet at the bottom.. i always remember those fondly, my personal favourite street food memory from the philippines. lol does road trip food count as street food? technically yes, diba?
actually the indian food you get in UK is just punjabi food, which is one of the 29 states of india. so there's a lot you guys are missing. plus, i feel restaurants in abroad have tried to adjust to the taste preferences of the locals, so because pani puri is so spicy, they might not be making it. and also, it's a spontaneous make and eat dish, not a restaurant sit and eat one.
Hello everyone! 😊 I´m from Czech Republic and my favourite street food is (are) "langoše" [:langoshe:]. Langoš is a deep fried flatbread topped with garlic, cheese and sometimes with ketchup or tartar sauce. Originaly langoše come from Hungary, but they are very popular in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Romania etc. Beryl, you maybe know this food, but I highly recommend to try to prepare them at home, as homemade they are even better. 🤗 And thank you for introducing me pani puri. @@rymd901 dear you are missing a lot of flavours of food, just try it once it's fantastic. It's another wonderful gift from India.
I discovered an Indian grocery store this weekend and they had pani puri shells. I immediately wished for Beryl to be on speed dial so I could ask her I what else I needed to buy. Watching and double watching the episode again now so I am better prepared for next time. Although the shells are so delicious on their own I imagine filling them with anything will be amazing.
That’s true you could literally fill them with anything.. even fruit & yoghurt. Or yoghurt, boiled potato & tamarind sauce.
Am surprised the store ppl didn't have tips or guide
OMG, Pani Puri, I spent 3 months backpacking in India, in 1998 (yes I am that old) and lived off street food, (did not get sick once), Beryl, you are a treasure! Can’t believe your husband found you on a dating app
A video we Indians were waiting for.. Also you missed the integral part of ending with sukha puri.

3 parts vodka, one part tamarind pani. Also make stuffing 50% cashew nuts, 50% potato. Good taste to be honest

My favorite Tunisian street food is Fricassé ♥
It is a fried dough stuffed with harissa, boiled potatoes, boiled eggs, tuna, and olives.
My favourite was a place called Moon of Tunis in Los Angeles. It's been 30+ years, and I can still taste the bastilla.
One of my favorite food authors has a whole chapter about Tunis in one of her memoirs. She talks about her and a friend going there, and her friend not waiting to learn how to eat a brik, and she ends up squirting egg all over her face! Maybe making brik will be my next project.
@@erinhowett3630 I cook Brik at home at least once every week ♥

Make your own paani and puri Nuzhat. Lots of youtube videos that show how to make both. Use your own mineral water. Add your own fav. ingredients in the water. The most basic ingredients that add explosion of flavor is minced mint leaves & cilantro leaves, very tiny piece of ginger(optional), green chili (1) if you like spicy, black salt, ground fennel seed(gives fantastic flavor 1/4tsp), Amchur powder & chaat masala; a small pinch of both(avl. in Indian store) : ) life is short, eat panipuri. Its our family favorite!

Perfect! 😃

Would like to send you some from Mumbai, what's your address

My favorite street food has to be Kwek Kwek. They're like bright orange, deep fried coated quail or chicken eggs you can dip in either vinegar, spicy vinegar, or a sweet sauce. You can also eat them on their own. They're quite cheap too, so they made great snacks during my college days. Sending love from the Philippines.
those sweet banana spring rolls are also very delicious too.
i am balikbayan in the united states, and i have heard about kwek kwek, but what i remember most is the quail eggs they would sell on the side of the road on the drive from manila up to the province... the eggs are simply boiled in shell and they come in the skinny bag with the salt packet at the bottom.. i always remember those fondly, my personal favourite street food memory from the philippines. lol does road trip food count as street food? technically yes, diba?

actually the indian food you get in UK is just punjabi food, which is one of the 29 states of india. so there's a lot you guys are missing. plus, i feel restaurants in abroad have tried to adjust to the taste preferences of the locals, so because pani puri is so spicy, they might not be making it. and also, it's a spontaneous make and eat dish, not a restaurant sit and eat one.
