This is old and yes he has made a comeback of sorts. He had great success with the film jcvd and Amazon prime picked it up and in 2018 another 5 episode series of jcvd kind of doing the same thing. He pokes fun of himself now and would admit he was to old to play a young mans role. Jcvd was really down on himself prior to the 2008-2018 amazon run. He had 9 or 10 straight to dvd b rated movies and wanted a chance to redeem himself and show a deeper side of who he is. Acceptance has clearly been something he has worked hard at because he really plays up being a aging action star who is washed up in his recent projects. The jcvd had a 6 minute monolog in French were he really told the truth about his failures and what went wrong. He accepted that he was the reason for his own demise. That 6 minutes were he even cried showed more emotion than all of his movies combined and really proved he is more then just a action star.
He is Honest and Real. I Admire him, his love for all his family, his dog, bird that he left in Belgium. He deserves much more Respect. Love from Me.🙏💜

Only a man with a huge heart can show emotions like this, and I am glad he is a strong believer also, the stronger the faith you think you have, the harder god will test you to see if you are right. It’s been years since I’ve had the joy of watching Bloodsport. I loved that movie and after watching Jean’s Conan O’ Brian interviews it made me look up Jean on UA-cam because I never looked up his interviews or Bio. After seeing this, I find I share the experience of battling some similar battles in my personal life. I’m writing this because I wish I could tell Jean, “You were my first hero that I saw as real growing up as a kid, and you cured a lot of my feelings of loneliness when my parents worked late nights as a kid. Thank you Mr. Van Dam.”

It takes tremendous courage to be vulnerable like this, in front of others. I've been rediscovering JCVD and his work, the movies that inspired my love of action movies and complex heroes he embodied more than not. To be honest, his performances always had this core to them for me. Passion and conviction and tenderness. That's WHY I valued him, then and now, and indeed what the machine uses against him, imo. He will always hold a place in my heart, as one of the greats. We all have demons and shortcomings, and most of us don't have them in a fishbowl for all to see and judge. I hope he has found peace.
