Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated every year in Paris 18th arrondissement.
On the menu: religious celebrations and a very colorful parade.
As it happens every year, Ganesha temple of Paris Sri Manicka Vinayakar Alayam holds Ganesh Chaturthi. This year, the celebration is back on August 27, 2023, to celebrate the birth of the God of New Beginnings, whose father beheaded him and replaced his head with an elephant’s. Ganesha is the son of deities Shiva and Parvati. Symbolizing love and knowledge, this elephant-headed deity is, for Hindus, at the origin of the world and many events in people’s life.
His birthday is celebrated with a great parade in La Chapelle neighborhood. His statue walks the streets on a decorated float followed by his brother Murugan. Note that on his way, he brings his blessing.

Les gars cassez des noix c’est pas écolo et la planète dans tous ça
Wrong title, this is not Ganesh Chathurthi, the thithi is not even chathruthi on that date. How can it be Ganesh Chaturthi ?. This is exactly the problem with Hindiwalas not learning Indian culture and languages. This is Ther Thirivizha, Car festival of Vinayagar (Ganesha) Koil. It is like carnival. This is not pan south asian. This is primarily a Sri Lankan Tamil /French Tamil (Pondicherry) affair here. Does not make sense to add South Asian tag. Does not make any sense to somebody from Kabul or Lahore or Delhi or even Bombay or Baroda. They will not know as to what the heck is going on, nor can they follow the rituals or the prayers being recited. This will make sense to people from Thennadu i.e., Malayalees, Tamils, Tuluvas, Kodavas, Kannadigas and some Andhras. Most of the devotees are conducting rituals for Lord Muruga in this festival. Kavadi, Thee Chatti(Fire pots), azhagu koothal (piercing themselves with spears, or hooks etc), Karagam are all done for Lord Muruga, Karagam is also done for Mariamma etc. People do this to do their vows or as thanks or debt to Murugan, for some it is done as part of family traditions.

If you see the official website it reads - this ganesh festival celebrates the birthday of lord Ganesha, which is officially also called as Ganesh Chaturthi.. But yes it was celebrated much ahead of actual date of Ganesh Chaturthi and it is because this is not India, here in Paris most of events takes place only on Sundays and that too when they get official permission from govt.. (does not matter what the actual date of event is).. So we have to follow govt rules.. And to be honest i personally don't see any issue with it, atleast people are taking time out of their busy life to celebrate the festival.. To me doesn't matter if it is north indian style or south Indian style or srilankan tamilian style.. What matters to me is that we all participated with full devotion.. Jai Ganesh 🙏
