I spent some time commuting to an from Tilburg, and it's amazing to see how the area behind the train station has developed since then! At the time, only the "LocHal" was there already as a library, but the bike garage at the start of the video wasn't.
The LocHal is still one of my favourite buildings ever since I took some time after work to have a look inside before I went home for the evening. I love how they kept some of the old cranes and other equipment in place and built a beautiful library in it. (If you didn't already guess it: The "LocHal" is a renovated railway maintenance depot)

"There's nowhere in the world"... well, honestly, the bike infrastructure is arguably as good in Denmark and... in North Korea (where bicycles are much more common than cars). Having said that, yes, it's indisputable that the infrastructures for bikes in the Nertherlands are every bit excellent and among the very best in the world.

@@yagi3925 that's absolutely not true, Denmark and North Korea do not have an extensive bicycle infrastructure like the Netherlands. I have seen the bicycle 🚲 infrastructure in Copenhagen, is good but not good enough both in functionality and aesthetic...

@@jentulj9611 Well, then it's a matter of opinion and not a matter of "absolutely not true". I am pretty familiar with Denmark - and I mean not just Copenhagen but the whole country, and in my opinion the bike infratructure there is (slightly) better than in the NL. As I said, though, it's a matter of opinion as long as we don't have an accurate methodology to actually measure and rate the respective qualities of both infrastructures. As for North Korea, I don't think you've ever set a foor there, so I'll stick to the Latin saying "Quod gratis affirmatur, gratis negatur". I rely on my experience of NK.

Tell me how can that be twice as polluting as a car?????? For me, my scooter is my main form of transportation for my daily commute and in my opinion a very efficient one. my alternative is my car, a 2012 Hyundai ix35, it weighs over 1000 kg an does barely 12km to a liter of gasoline. Again how can my scooter twice as polluting then my car???? i like to know your source for your statement because i can barely believe it.
take a look at a the highways, they ar packed with thousands of cars with only one person in it. they all burn fuel, cause dust by braking and tire wear etc. etc. my scooter does that to but only in very small fractions of what a car does.
offcourse, a bike will be the best alternative but that is not suitable for my daily distance.
in my opinion: the drivers of scooters/mopeds ar subject to some kind of silly whichhunt wich is based on very old stereotypes which does not apply to the modern era scooters/mopeds and their commuting owners.

though the translation from dutch would be more like 'cycle fastway'.
You can ride as fast as you want, knock yourself out! However, be advised that in dutch law there is the principle of 'appropriate speed' which means you are obliged to adapt your speed to the circumstances, like when cycling close to slower cyclists or around larger groups at rush hour for instance.

I applaud these bikepaths. I think it is wonderful idea that will stimulate e-biking even more. I'm convinced this is a first step in getting speed pedelecs to allow usage of such paths as well. Currently they are supposed to use the regular road, but that isn't exactly safe and leads to a lot of frustration by car drivers. Once there's enough bikepaths as this; it's a no-brainer to also allow speed pedelecs on them.
