Hey, thanks a lot for watching! We have our interior disassembly video up, and we are gathering supplies to begin repairs. Glad to have you following along with us.
Thanks Johnny Clyde. These Scamps are pretty light, and you can pull them with about anything! They have really gone up in popularity lately, so the down side is that is driving prices up. But very simple little trailers that are a lot of fun.
@@GarageMisadventures That's awesome! Especially since I don't have a big truck to haul something! I also have experience with fiberglass and electrical! Maybe after a few months, prices will go down! I know prices are surging on a lot of things electronics, cars, trucks, recreation! Definitely a sellers market! Anyways, love the videos! Can't wait to see the end result of the Scamp!
@@JohnnyClyde sounds like you have the skills a project Scamp or Casita would be a good fit! They pop up now and then on Craigslist and marketplace for good prices but you gotta jump fast because they go super quick.
@@GarageMisadventures Thanks for the advice! I'll be watching Craigslist and marketplace! Travel, automotive, camping and DIY are all passions of mine! Would love a project!
Hello saw you today on Meant 2 Be RVing live. Wanted to come over and share some love and give you another friend for your channel. Look forward to seeing more of your content.
I completely renovated a 1977 Scamp. Renovated inside and out and rescued it from an abandoned lot out in the country. It was an amazing amount of work, but I love the end result. Mine started out 10 times worse with a lot of damage. I love camping in it and have lived in it now for month
I do have lots of suggestions. The one thing important is the door handle. If you are handy at all, install the upper end storm door hardware. Mine is polished nickel and it perfectly proportional to the size of the door.
Paint job options.."A" Blue and Orange with Albert Gator on sides and " Take it to the Swamp" on back." B" A mountain scene with a WOLF standing on a Rock ledge howling at the moon ; " C" A nice rehab of factory scheme with your CHANNEL LOGO on the back? Great video, I'm super jealous of THAT camper!! Thanks for sharing
Awesome. Thanks for watching. We will have another video on the Scamp out in a couple weeks showing some of the repairs and things we are doing. Let us know how yours is going when you get it!
Hey! My mom just bought the same scamp 76, i was wondering where are you resourcing your appliances? The scamp website doesn't show the same nos parts? Thank you love it!!!!
What about 2 tones greens. Dark forest on the bottom and green mint color on top. Like they used to do in the old "50's round body cars. I think Pontiacs.
Hey Terisa, that’s a good idea! I have seen a lot of blues and reds on vintage campers but not many in green schemes. That would be fun. We hope you stick around to see how it turns out! Thanks for watching.
Neat little camper! I’ve done some fiberglass work years ago and not to much to it I imagine the reason for the repairs to your trailer was damage from it being hit. If still structurally sound may want to leave the metal repair panels in place and hide them by feathering the edges...I’m lazy though 😃 A flame paint job would look cool One thing I would look into is a solar / battery system
Thanks! I have done a little. I definitely need more practice but I know some basics. It is so low to the ground I’m guessing someone backed it into something at some point... the metal works but I think we are going to get rid of it and repair it. Hmm flames. Hadn’t considered that! A solar battery charger system sounds like a great idea. I will have to do some research on that!
Cool, based on how many people I have seen just since I got mine who are looking for one I don’t think you will have any trouble if you do decide to sell it!
@@GarageMisadventures Looks like you are in V-DUBS too. I still have my 60's Meyers Manx dune buggy. I had several bugs and also was the President of the Southeastern Opel Association. For a few years.
Love your project, I’m renovating an old Scamp too, I have a couple videos up. Our big issues were with the frame and our door was a nightmare when we bought it last year. It’s a 1978 13’ I like your channel too, just subbed!
Awesome. Thanks, I will have to check out your project. Our frame is good but my door needs a lot of work. Thanks for coming along with us. We will have an update on the Scamp progress in the next couple weeks, doing fiberglass repairs, a bit tedious but it’s still coming along!
We got a 1996 16 Deluxe in early 2021, pretty much turnkey at the time, but I recently found some punky wood in the floor corner under water tank. Will you
I’m doing a 78 right now. New axle is a must. The rubber inside the torsion axle rots so you have to replace the entire axle. Will add better ride height. Lots of good people on Instagram. I follow a lot of people with scamps and bolers (Canadian scamp).
Thanks, I will do some research on the axle for sure. I believe with one this old it’s a weld on whereas some of the new ones are bolt on. That would sure make it easier but I’ll have to look into it. We are also posting on Instagram as garagemisadventures if you want to follow us there, we’d love to have you along either here or there to see where this goes. Thank you for watching.
I'm looking for a vintage Scamp also. (Doing the renovations myself is the only way I could afford one)Could you tell me some places you looked to find yours? I found exactly what I was looking for at a great price, but it turned out to be a scam.
I found mine through a coworker. They pop up on local Craigslist or marketplace from time to time, or on the fiberglass rv forum, but you have to have your money ready to run out the door when you see it. Unfortunately due to their popularity there are a number of scam ads that I routinely see also. If the price is “crazy low”, there’s a good chance it’s a scam... so definitely proceed with caution and deal in person if at all possible!
@@GarageMisadventures The prices for a stripped/gutted one seem all over the place. I thought maybe a couple thousand $$$ because it's going to cost double that even with a DIY project. I saw an '85 for $28,500. Unless it's lined with gold that seems crazy expensive for a 35+ yr old camper.
They do have a lot of parts available, but we will be trying to repair most of the major components, and upgrade many of the others. So I will be ordering some things from Scamp, but other things I will be sourcing elsewhere. It is nice that they are still around to order from though. Thanks for watching. Hope you stick around to see how the project goes.
The Ensolite “Elephant Skin” (white insulation foam) in the older ones and the Rat Fur carpet stuff in the new ones is glued on. I do not know what they used at the factory but my plan is to reattach my Ensolite using permatex heavy duty headliner adhesive.
Hi I have a question. A family member of mine is trying to sell their 1970-something scamp trailer.. it's parked on my land so I am trying to help them out. It is pretty run down.. needs new tires, and the entire inside will need to be gutted. Do you have any idea how much it may be worth? Just a guess?
Found you from your FB post and glad I did! I used to own a 1989 Scamp and have a video of it on my channel. Check that out for ideas. I subscribed so I can follow your progress. Have fun with it!
Hi! Congratulations!! For some great ideas on restoration, I see you are already on the Boler, Scamp, etc etc, Facebook page. I would recommend also joining the Trillium FB page. The Trillium 1300 is set up layout wise exactly like your Scamp. So, they are a great group. Also, if you go to www.fiberglassrv.com and join they also a great resource. Note that on FB pages there is a search box on the left. So you can search out specific articles on painting etc. Best wishes!
What upgrades and things would you like to see on this project? Let us know!
Air Conditioning!
barxracerful that’s something we haven’t quite decided how or what we are going to integrate! Stay tuned.
Have you guys installed the carpet to the ceiling and walls? Id like to see/hear what your process was to do that. thanks!
Thank you for sharing! My wife and I just bought a Scamp and your videos will be very helpful to us.
I gotta just say these 70s doors are so cool with the neat little window 🌻so chic looking ❗️(Please paint the bottom Magenta, pink and purple mix🌼
That would be cool!
Thank you I have one the same model
I love these old vintage scamps! Can't wait to see more of these videos and what you're doing with it.

Garage Misadventures yeah mine is welded also, gonna cut it out. I’m fortunate enough to live close to the scamp factory. A bit over an hour away.
Nice, that would be helpful, I have heard the factory is pretty good at supporting and providing parts for these older trailers.
