    Honestly, I'm not really into trains, but I still found this video fascinating and your voice and speech pattern are very engaging. It's very well put together.

    You should try to do a review of a trip from the Terminus of a station all the way to the final stop.

      I've considered it before, but it takes quite a long time to ride the whole line, and seeing as I usually don't have a ton of time on location to film these videos, it doesn't really make sense. That being said, it's still not entirely off the table, as I may be able to do something like that given more time.

    Amtrak does not own the line from New Rochelle to New Haven, the MTA does, if it were amtrak owned, there would be more amtrak branding and signage at the major stations of New Rochelle, Stamford, Bridgeport, New Haven, and State Street. however, since it is a 4 track line, amtrak trains are almost never delayed on passenger rail owned tracks due to the bigger and faster main lines and/or passenger train priority over freight. thats why everyone confuses this and the sometimes the hudson line to be owned by amtrak. the new haven line also has 3 other branch lines going to more central Connecticut. Waterbury, Danbury, and New Cannan Lines, only the New Cannan line is electrified. Amtrak and the MTA maintain joint control over these two lines and Penn Station and the soon to be West of Penn Station to Ronkonkoma line operated by amtrak but the line owned by the LIRR. (Washington DC-Ronkonkoma)

      Amtrak trains almost never delayed on the New Haven line??🤣🤣🤣. Amtrak trains are frequently delayed.
      Yes, the New Haven line has 4 tracks, but there are virtually no sections where all 4 tracks are in service at any given time. And the line is filled with speed restrictions that have been there for years and could be resolved in a day if management knew what they were doing. So Amtrak trains are delayed often.
      Metro North is STILL trying to get caught up with their constantly deferred Track and signal maintenance. There is very poor management at the MTA. The people making decisions aren’t railroaders, they don’t use any common sense. Combined with the fact most of their maintenance only takes place for short windows during daylight hours. and those shortfalls have created an enormous amount of problems that have taken years to repair.
      And as to your comment that Amtrak and the MTA have joint control over those lines, that is definitely not the case. Amtrak has absolutely zero control over the New Haven line.

      No Amtrak delays on the New Haven Line would be wonderful, but the fact LGA-BOS shuttle flights still have people on them is pretty much due to the fact the MTA slaughters Amtrak's ability to run the Boston leg of the NEC as efficiently as the Washington leg. Even when the trains meet schedule (which is no guarantee at all) they have to run slow as hell through Metro North's territory.

      The MTA only owns from teh state line west. East of the state line to New Haven, the line is owned by CT DoT, not the MTA or Amtrak. East of New Haven, Amtrak owns the Shore Line, which it shares with Shore Line East commuter rail. This section was electrified about 20 years ago, the brief delay from the electrication to eh new Line line in 1907 having been caused by WWI.

    • @peter7936
      @peter7936 Рік тому

      The New Canaan, Danbury, and Waterbury branch lines are owned by CT Dot, not the MTA. CT contracts with Metro North to run those trains, as it does for New Haven Line trains.

    Nice video! I'll never understand why people pronounce it NEW Haven instead of New HAVEN, not like that's different anywhere else on the east coast- New Hartford, New Canaan, New York, New Rochelle, New Bedford, I can't think of an example of another pronunciation.

    • @josephkatz2704
      @josephkatz2704 Рік тому +1

      as a new haven resident, this is the single easiest way to tell that someone is not from here. virtually all visitors and transplants pronounce it NEW haven (almost as if it's spelled newhaven, ct) and everyone who is actually from here pronounces it the correct way, new HAVEN. the pronunciation kind of ruined this video for me, haha.

    • @de-fault_de-fault
      @de-fault_de-fault Рік тому

      I've never really heard anyone say it that way until this video. The only reason I could ever think of is to distinguish from East Haven or West Haven. And none of those others have the "new" stressed either. Only thing like that I can actually think of is New Lots, Brooklyn.
