I have been watching this channel for years, finally have an account to comment. UA-cam and Google what a hassle just to leave a comment. I wanted to say this channel is one of the best for tennis lessons, matter fact I see some so called 'tennis instructors' where I live teaching the exact same things I see in these videos, its laughable.
separating movements and explaining how it works gives a very good idea what to do - thanks for posting that, I will try to apply immediately and let you you know how it worked out
Hey love your videos. I grew up playing tennis but even after all these years, i need someone to help reinforce the basics when I can't figure out what is going wrong. Your videos help simplify what I am trying to do.
This is a drill to improve feel. It OBVIOUSLY is NOT an instruction on how to play tennis in million situations that occur on a tennis court. I assumed that was obvious...
Dear@feeltennis, thank you for the very informatif coaching.. I have problem with changing grip when ever returning serve.) (make me mostly late) My forehand grip is semi westtern and one handed backhand. Pls give me some sugestion.. 🙏
Nice way of explaining. Many people confuse rotating the forearm with the wrist. The action you showed is the 2 bones in the forearm crossing over. I.e. not the wrist.
Very nicely explained. I really like the breakdown of shoulder, forearm and wrist and legs. All very critical components of producing an effective forehand. My only question would be is on the grip? In today's modern game, what grip would you recommend using?
Appealing explanation to me as an engineer. For some reason I cannot get the forehand right, although I'm okay with all other aspects of tennis. Maybe I have been locking some of my joints, and need to set them free, using all of them in a more natural way. Thank you for the lesson.
Thanks for great educational videos! Would you please prepare a video about how quickly a player should change his/her grip from forehand to backhand, slice, volley, smash and so on?
"Your part is not to combine all three joints in your arm...and the leg..." this guy is so correct and he has simplified the shot so well and yet "combining your joints" is the million dollar problem. :-)
This guys has pretty good idea of tennis... He explanation is actually dead on. Except he does not get into detail about take back and that is actually very important. Using unit turn and keep the racket head up is very very important. lot of recreational people take back straight back or down and that's get into trouble.
At contact with the ball is the racket face perpendicular to the ground or is racket tilted slightly down and contact is top of ball and with upper part of racket face ? THANKS, eric
Hi, great channel, I love your videos! Shouldn't the shoulder rotation follow the hip rotation? It looks like you rotate your whole body at the same time.
well, it's good video but there are several things won't work. 1) finishing the racket over the shoulder with wiper swing. 2) close stance 3) using arm to generate racket head speed I mean there are many people say "We should not imitate pros" but my question is who should we imitate then? Pro use that stroke because it "Works" 1) they use lots of wrist to generate racket head speed 2) open stance to get more rotation 2) finish racket next to left arm to get more spin not over the shoulder.
Closing the racket face works for table tennis but in tennis it's not really how we spin the ball. You can imagine keeping it perpendicular to the ground and going forward and up.
Hi, I have been watching your videos and I try to imitate your forehand movement for topspin, but my shots go very high, leading the ball to land outside the court. Whereas actually it should go flat over the ground and land within the court. My opponents say that My tennis racket opens up while hitting the ball. How do I correct that?
Wall ball, just keep doing forehands against the wall until it becomes instinct. I do it constantly for about 15 - 20 minutes usually when I come back from a long hiatus from playing.
This advice has ruined tens of thousands of recreational tennis players. Stop comparing what the pros do and what regular folks can do on a tennis court with their non-trained bodies and non trained minds.
Excellent points, but nearly 8 minutes and 6 moving parts isn't exactly simple. It needs to be simplified further. And you show, but forget to mention one SUPER important point. Rotation happens purely by transferring the weight from your BACK FOOT to your FRONT FOOT (feet must be at right angle!!!) and the rest of your body stays in roughly the same conformation until just before contact (also key). There are really only two main movements in forehand. Rotation (legs/hips) and lift (arm/wrist)
Thanks for the video. It's good, however you keep using the word hit, hit, hit hit. You have to use the words spin the ball. In tennis we don't hit the ball. WE SPIN THE BALL. GOOD Video, Please make more!
Flatbalrule your correct... You should imitate the Pros...Tennis is anglular game not linear but with an open stance which keeps your hand closer too the ball for better contol and feel...Tennis Professionals understand simplicty is the Key,,, Too Much information can easily discourage the student...
Can someone help me I am a left handed player and I try to hit with power and spin I use a Semi western grip I am not that consistent because my spin is awful but I try to hit power and spin to generate speed and the spin makes control I am not even getting better anymore people are getting better than me it's very frustrating and difficult to take care of what should I do my stars are dropping as I just moved into the fourteens and might stay like HELP ME PLEASE???!!!!
people if you want to simply hit the ball over the net is okay.. but if your playing against aggressive or against player or a pusher this forehand is not useful... Natural swing and grip is very important

In my opinion, this guy gives the best, easy to understand tennis advice on the internet.
I agree

This guy is the best UA-cam tennis teacher, no question. Kudos!

You are a natural teacher. Best tennis tutorial ever!
Very good video with simple explanation of how to apply spin...well done!

Really breaks it down well. Can use it for myself and my students! Thanks. Keep them coming.
great teacher! Thanks for your lesson...
I agree
Excellent. Simple to understand and easy to replicate. Good Job !
Thank you so much. I've watched most of your you tube videos they're all very informative and helps
Again thank you please continue sharing your tennis tips, knowledge, and experiences. From Sunny California.

Thank you! Great information! Have started to play tennis at 45 and keen to get a good technique. Gotta start somewhere :)
simple, concise and to the point. Very well put.
Nice way of explaining. Many people confuse rotating the forearm with the wrist. The action you showed is the 2 bones in the forearm crossing over. I.e. not the wrist.
That was very helpful, especially using the net to demonstrate the upward swing.
Very nicely explained. I really like the breakdown of shoulder, forearm and wrist and legs. All very critical components of producing an effective forehand. My only question would be is on the grip? In today's modern game, what grip would you recommend using?
Just what I am looking for, thanks. Great teaching technique as well.
Thank you Tomaz. Your instructions are highly helpful in improving our game !
Excellent teaching method...love your simplification!
Appealing explanation to me as an engineer. For some reason I cannot get the forehand right, although I'm okay with all other aspects of tennis. Maybe I have been locking some of my joints, and need to set them free, using all of them in a more natural way. Thank you for the lesson.

Fantastic tennis tips - thanks for making this
this lesson looks simple but it actually improves my forehand.Thank you very much
"Your part is not to combine all three joints in your arm...and the leg..." this guy is so correct and he has simplified the shot so well and yet "combining your joints" is the million dollar problem. :-)
Eccellent and simple explanation, thank you very much
what racket do you prefer and which one are you using? nice video thanks for the lesson
very good vid...I think I'm not using the upward movement on my shoulder enuf...will work on that..thx
Oh man, that's exactly my feeling, how everything has been over complicated. Great advice.
Great lesson! Thank you for this!
I think this was an excellent tip, thanks for sharing!
u got him there.. Can u make a video on how to hit a forehand in some situations (volleys etc ) ? I'd be very interested ... Nice court too :D
He makes sense. Tennis is simple- easy to learn. I learned how to hit the ball in one day. What is so hard about it ?
I haven't really been utilizing my legs or my hips. Thanks for the tips.
Thanks for the tips. Good explanation.
This guys has pretty good idea of tennis... He explanation is actually dead on. Except he does not get into detail about take back and that is actually very important. Using unit turn and keep the racket head up is very very important. lot of recreational people take back straight back or down and that's get into trouble.
Don't tell that to Andy Murray or David Ferrer, two of a number of pros who have a low take-back.
thanks bt pls give the link of racquet path and backhand as u mentioned in the video.
Dam, thank Tomaz! Now I understand why I need to bend my knees! ja ja ja Excelent explanation. Keep going with the videos!!!
I like when u show this movement against the net to see what r u trying to do.
I am a complete tennis newb and found this useful, thanks. :)
Nice place. Where is this. The court needs a bit of maintenance though.
This man is a legend
Great! Play the net technique is a winner, I get it now.
Nice teaching.
At contact with the ball is the racket face perpendicular to the ground or is racket tilted slightly down and contact is top of ball and with upper part of racket face ? THANKS,
eric
I saw some guy called Phil Hofmeyr (I think that's his name) demo a product called TopspinPro. Awesome product!
Hi, great channel, I love your videos! Shouldn't the shoulder rotation follow the hip rotation?
It looks like you rotate your whole body at the same time.
I am explaining the fundamentals. At higher levels the hips do rotate a bit before the shoulders.
Camila Giorgi
Beautiful Place ... Whr z it ??
great video. playing a few matches soon. thanks!
great tips, great place. thank you!
Zeer duidelijke en effectieve video.
Thanks again! Love your videos!
well, it's good video but there are several things won't work. 1) finishing the racket over the shoulder with wiper swing. 2) close stance 3) using arm to generate racket head speed

Thank you for these videos.
Wonderfull video!. Really good!. Why all the teachers dont´t explain like this???. Brilliant!!.
nicely explained-thanks
great videos; thanks for sharing
thanks, this video was a great help!!
Should I close or open the racket face to generate more topspin?
Closing the racket face works for table tennis but in tennis it's not really how we spin the ball. You can imagine keeping it perpendicular to the ground and going forward and up.
Are you doin this video in wythenshawe park ?
slovenia
No, it's Vicky Park in Swinton, I think.
thanks for the tip!
Vikram Navale check your grip, try changing it up by rotating to close your racket face
Vikram Navale don't know if you still need some advice but my tenniscoach always told me to keep my nails to the ground when applying topspin!
dear Tomaz. so you dont flick your wrist? or your wrist stay hinged? tx
"Preparation does'nt matter" ?1?!?!?! That's an advise from a coach. Just made my day, go play.
The problem with me is that I cant seem to catch the ball? What do I have to do? Just like how federer train?
Wall ball, just keep doing forehands against the wall until it becomes instinct. I do it constantly for about 15 - 20 minutes usually when I come back from a long hiatus from playing.
I.e. Energy + Racket angle + contact point + Wrist = How much spin is affected on the ball...
Eben Burger
Great vid thankyou
So good!
U r too good.
Does this technique still work?
Sure, it works forever.
Good video, thank you.
You need to have palm facing down on back swing and then with risk lag snap up thru the ball for true power....
This advice has ruined tens of thousands of recreational tennis players. Stop comparing what the pros do and what regular folks can do on a tennis court with their non-trained bodies and non trained minds.
thanks coach
very good
Great. Thank you.
4:24 Did the camera lady clear her throat right there haha? I was like "hey is somebody listening on my computer?"
Cheers mate :) good advice!!
great video but you forgot to mention grip position

where are you from ...i look's like south EU
Oscar Wegner makes it easier almost sound like his method but it good
Can someone help me I am a left handed player and I try to hit with power and spin I use a Semi western grip I am not that consistent because my spin is awful but I try to hit power and spin to generate speed and the spin makes control I am not even getting better anymore people are getting better than me it's very frustrating and difficult to take care of what should I do my stars are dropping as I just moved into the fourteens and might stay like HELP ME PLEASE???!!!!
Holy mother...
What do you actually want to know exactly?
Oh I forgot to tell you about the Memory Board. It's better than the net. Please tell me you agreed with the Memory Board. Thanks
people if you want to simply hit the ball over the net is okay.. but if your playing against aggressive or against player or a pusher this forehand is not useful... Natural swing and grip is very important
use ful
nice place indeed...
super
