I love that they used the on-set audio for this scene instead of ADR (actors re-recording their lines in post-production). You can barely hear what Yaphet Kotto is saying at 1:02, which adds a sense of realism to the scene. They would NEVER allow this in a mainstream Hollywood movie today.
Scott instructed Yaphet Kotto to ignore and freeze out Sigourney Weaver days before the filming of the scene and when it was time for the scene she was so angry at Kotto that she was ready to punch him.
It's one of the main lines that I've never forgotten in this entire movie for all these years that whole little meeting that happened, "keep doing what you're doing, nothing" I apply that logic around people I work with
I always liked Parker, too. I also liked that even though they got on each other's nerves most of the time, by the end you can sense Parker and Ripley have some respect for each other because they're both so tough under pressure
Veronica Cartwright is underrated in how much she sells fear in this film. Her acting here is phenomenal, just the look in her eyes could speak to everything she says.
As plenty of people have heard before, probably, the character of Lambert is much like a reflection of the audience watching this movie. It is really terrific acting, on the part of Veronica Cartwright and on the part of all of the other actors featured in the movie, and it is also terrific casting and directing (of the character of Lambert, and far beyond).
My question is how the hell is she a crew member of a spacecraft. She has the resilience of an ant. What’s the emotional standard for spacecraft crew in this era?
@@ArtificialDreamsAD in fairness to Lambert, I don’t think any type of psychological vetting would be sufficient to determine whether someone could hold it together if they were subject to seeing an alien burst out of someone and then go on a slaughtering rampage throughout their ship.
@@rekunta well this is in 2037 and space exploration has been a thing for awhile. I imagine psychological testing is required for most spacecraft personnel commissioned by Mother. As we see the logical and calm approach of the captain and Ripley. I think lambert was the most annoying useless character in the film.
@@ArtificialDreamsAD In a sense, she is a rather useless character; especially in the scene in which she and Parker perish horrifically. In another sense, she is the singular one of whom initially suggests that the remaining crew of the Nostromo detonate the Nostromo and escape said space-vessel by way of the shuttlecraft.
I really felt and understood Ripley's anger @1:00. Everyday I have people coming to me with questions and problems that they want me to answer and solve for them. And I'm willing to help but they won't SHUT UP! and listen to me. They are still talking and mumbling just like Parker was doing.
Man, the dialogue is sooo great. So believable. The desperation, the tension... The movie's name is kinda misleading. It's not really about the Alien, but about how the humans react to it & try to survive. How a small group of humans (and a robot posing as one) act when facing an existential threat.
Also, it perhaps was not so wise to do, considering that the killer alien creature somewhere aboard the space-vessel perhaps possibly could have heard the rather loud chatter.
I saw on a UA-cam video years ago that before they filmed this scene Sigourney weaver was extremely uptight and upset as Ridley Scott had a go at her. Her yelling at Parker was her way of venting out her anger.
Scott instructed Yaphet Kotto who played Parker to do everything to piss her off before the filming of the scene and when it was time for the scene she was basically ready to beat the crap out of him.
oh yeah man absolutely, compare these to the new reboot/remake/presequel thing which has just come out, teens in space. no character/presence whatsoever. trailer is enough. terrible.
Why can't they make a movie like this today....maybe they don't have an actress like Weaver, I don't know. She was a woman, the leader/hero but she wasn't over the top with feminism bullshit...she perfectly portrayed a natural leader... ..I don't know of any guy who has a problem with this female lead....most other female leads/heros are just cringeworthy...I miss Sigourney Weaver...

Really makes thr conversation seem more real
The dialouge and fighting among them seems so friggin realistic!!
The acting is great and quite excellent throughout this whole movie, yes.
Scott instructed Yaphet Kotto to ignore and freeze out Sigourney Weaver days before the filming of the scene and when it was time for the scene she was so angry at Kotto that she was ready to punch him.
We all would like to be Ripley in this situation but most probably we would be Lambert
It's one of the main lines that I've never forgotten in this entire movie for all these years that whole little meeting that happened, "keep doing what you're doing, nothing" I apply that logic around people I work with
They're collating
The acting is so amazing!
Ikr?
A stellar cast all round! I love Sigourney Weaver in just about any film.
@G E T R E K T alien 3 is deservedly hated. Even James Cameron disknew it.
It is like the whole movie was shot in just one take. That is how good the acting is in the whole of the movie.
@@bearcattony00i actually enjoyed alien 3, its actually better than Resurrection but not as good as the first two, honestly
Masterclass in tension.
Such a good movie with good acting
Parkers my favorite in this film. Hes got a lot or courage and tenacity
I always liked Parker, too. I also liked that even though they got on each other's nerves most of the time, by the end you can sense Parker and Ripley have some respect for each other because they're both so tough under pressure
I love how he provoke Riply
Parker is the best player

Everybody keeps repeating it I know, but damn, this movie had seriously good acting. Especially the one at 0:59 that's straight up real life argument.
One of the best movies e v e r ❤️

Ash is like "Oh shit" when Ripley said she'll have access to MUTHUR now.
That's basically why he goes on a rampage afterwards
Good scene
imagine discovering one of your crew is an robot
Barking SHUT UP and instantly getting the silence wanted from the person that wouldn't stop uttering unintelligible babbling is a rare event.
Also, it perhaps was not so wise to do, considering that the killer alien creature somewhere aboard the space-vessel perhaps possibly could have heard the rather loud chatter.
This scene was so close to being real… the tension was so thick you didn’t need a knife to cut through it… you needed a jackhammer to break it. 😬
We know it's using the air shafts WILL YOU LISTEN TO ME PARKER? SHUT UP!
“Let’s hear it! …let’s hear it.” 😅
I laughed so hard when Ripley said that to Parker
Lol and what's the best is it's real irritation you're hearing
@@gigirimsa8929 me too. what is it about this scene that does that.
We should talk about the bonus more

Poor Lambert. She looks like she just saw Donald Sutherland pointing and screaming at her.
Ripley and Sarah Connor. The only "strong female leads" you need to know for sci-fi action films. It's in the acting and character writing.

I know what you mean. The Ripley character was a breakthrough role for women. Her confidence and straight thinking was amazing.
If they stayed together maybe they could have all survived?
Lambert was right but what happened 😕 if they took ash with them
