Agreed! So many people say they hate shelling peas, but I’ve always enjoyed it. Even as a kid, I loved to sit with my Granny shelling peas on the porch, or even inside watching Little House on the Prairie or The Facts of Life.
Awesome that you're picking butter peas so late.I just finished watching your video on canning pinkeye purple hulls.I didn't get any planted this year, bought frozen ones.Hopefully next year i'll have my own planted again
The deer squashed most of my tomato plants by bedding on top of them (yes, they actually made a bed ON my tomato plants) but I had a volunteer pop up a couple of months ago beside a bush in the yard and I just picked two more tomatoes off of it a few days ago. Still a few green ones left, and lots of blooms. I can’t believe it. Free plants are great!
There is something relaxing about shelling peas. Yes, it is still working, but not back breaking work. Women and children used to chat and teach during shelling. Even sing songs and recite Scripture. God's way of giving us a break to sit on a porch and make time to be together.
Wanda what is the difference between the butter peas and butter beans (taste wise)? I have heard of both. Thanks for all you and Danny do. God bless you both.
Butter peas look so good. I want to plant them next year. Hawk is awsome. Was that a coopers hawk? I could not tell from video. They can eat all the mice they want. Leave my chickens alone.
Butter peas, Lima’s, cream peas, Crowder peas, purple hulls, etc. are the gifts that keep on giving. A little more work to deal with than green beans, but worth the effort. Just when I think they’re done, they set more pods and keep going. Love these in my garden.❤️
Crazy good results and we love observing nature too.
What a Blessing to still be picking Butter Beans at this time of year. That is some mighty good eating right there. God Bless Y'all.
Nothing could be more peaceful than sitting on the porch shelling peas on a beautiful fall day 🙂

Gurney's sells both speckled and white butterpeas, but both are out of stock right now.
The butter peas look so good! I love those!
It looked like a rabbit was by the post right before the hawk flew up to post next to it

My butter peas are still going too, but the cold has really slowed them down..
