I am just now growing some Dixie Butter Peas. I was looking for what they look like when they're ready to pick and found your channel. This was a very very nice video. Simple and to the point. Eager to taste them as I love butter beans. Your connection to the Lord made me think of the scripture---I am no ashamed...Beautiful. Jesus bless.
Keep shaking that bush boy. I am boss, I'm shakin it. Had to add that, one of my favorite shows. Cool hand Luke. Love your videos. Please keep them coming !
Thank you for showing the different stages. I really appreciate that. I’m going to try some dry beans this year. These just might do it!! TFS God Bless you both. Hello to Bing Bing!! 🤗💕 ~Lisa
Wow! Thank you so much For watching and subscribing!!!! Welcome to the family ❤️❤️🐶. We have a lot of new videos being released so stay tuned. We are scheduling the releases for Thursday evenings
Oh, how I have missed you two! Thanks for sharing this! I have decided to try a new thing this year. It is called a Calico Crowder Cowpea. I liked the name is all. I can't wait for spring!
I really enjoy watching your videos and always look forward to the new ones. Also super excited to watch your new homestead come to fruition. However, while I wait..............I'm rewatching ALL of the oldies!
Much love from India. Your videos are helping me to grow several vegetables in containers on my cement rooftop year round. Our use of air conditioning has also dropped significantly.
I know this is a year old now, but going to comment anyway. I just found this video and it came at the perfect time for me. I just bought these seeds from Baker Creek! Thanks so much. Love your videos so much, so helpful. God Bless and good luck with the new homestead.
Now this is the way to video gardening. Showing all the different stages, tilling thru harvest! New subscriber. Seems each time I move to a new area, I have to learn gardening all over- new climate, sun in different position, etc. Looking forward to seeing your Florida gardening.
I was just thinkin. All that work you guys did in the Virginia garden. I sure hope the new owners respect all the work and not sow it in grass. 😎 Bout time we got some videos.
I enjoy the prayer at the end most of all! Just dont hear it often enough anymore! I am growing Limas for the first time this year, Jackson wonder limas. Trying to decide whether I want them to dry or have them fresh, wish I had room for both!
So uplifting, informational and just plain fun to watch. I really like your format from sowing to shelling all in one video. Color and lighting is great. Music is not obnoxious (whew, thanks!). So glad I found your channel...new subscriber here from TX.
So glad you and Nancy are back. Tell me what do you do with the beans that are not dried out completely? Are they a loss or is there something you can do with them?
Love this video on butter peas. I have never heard of them. I love the videos from start to finish, but now I have a request. Can Nancy complete this with a video on cooking with butter peas or a favorite recipe you have using the butter peas?
Can these beauties be grown in containers? I just love all of your videos and can't wait to see what y'all do on the new homestead. Thank you for all these encouraging videos. God bless.
Sooooo excited about yall being so close! Maybe get to meet one day😁 Also, we planted that pecan tree and Irma really did a number on it but its still going! Its planted by a little duck pond for your son💝
Congrats on your new homestead. I really enjoy your videos & look forward to each new one. Since you have been blessed with more planting space, can you please do a video on growing/caring for muscadine grapes. I really want to grow my own to make jelly. Also, if you have the space, can you add these to your planting repertoire: Gaya melon, Tigger melon (heirloom), and Asian Pear tree.😊 Thanks and many blessings.
Will do! We have a video on the Tiger Melons scheduled for release on May 24th. We will be doing new videos on the grapes and fruit trees as soon as I can. Lear some large trees out of the spot I want to plant my fruit trees
I also wanted the comment that I'm very glad that you will be down here in Florida because it's so much different everywhere else than here your Seasons run together you're freezing one minute in the 70s the next all of my bok choy went to seed my cabbage and I planted them in late fall and it would be nice and cold but then we would have a warm snap in the plants were just all confused
I've always grown the white Dixie butter peas and my family loves them, bit they are some work to shell... until I found a short cut. I take the dried peas in their hills and put them in a plastic grocery bag and poke a bunch of holes in it. Place that in another bag with no holes in it and tie em up. Then roll, beat, and basically" thrash" the bundle around and all the peas will fall through the holes in the inner bag into the outer bag. With some practice what you are left with is a sack of peas and a sack of hulls.
Hi, can you store the dried peas as they are for long term storage? Do you have to watch them for mold? I really appreciate y'alls hard work and love your videos. Thank you.
thanks for the videos I'm glad y'all made it to Florida how far from Jacksonville are y'all if you don't mind me asking and I've been gardening for about 2 years and for my raised garden beds and the one thing I think that's most important that I've learned when planting is 2 make sure you have it spaced out right and I really love that trick with that PVC pipe I also don't bend over the best in the world LOL and it sure does save your back but I learn something every time I watch one of your videos and I really appreciate the time and effort that you and Nancy put into each one of them
Hello Hollis and Nancy, very nice video and very well made. How do you store your beans? Do you freeze them or put them in a mason jar? We miss you here in Virginia. Enjoy Florida
Hey, it's the quilt lady from Tennessee. Question: would you be willing to barter some butterpea seeds? I could send you some Ground Cherry seeds or some Elderberry cuttings in exchange. Both are super healing foods. Vivian Ann on the side of the mountain in NE Tennessee
How do you store those, just put the beans into a canning jar? Do you allow the un-dried ones (the ones with green or yellow shells) to dry out first, before shucking and storing them?
No mulch Hollis? I live in Florida, between the hot weather during the day, I'd be watering every day. Then there's the squirrels, bugs etc., these wouldn't survive one day. Any advice?
cool so they will love our monsoon weather in arizona, watching your asparagus videos and replanting them in the buckets after I go to lowes. any paticular seed co you recommend besides burpee?

You need to grow that Sakurajima radish this year!!!!
We love Radishes!! Always willing to try something new❤️
Is there a big taste difference from green and dry butter beans? I love me some butter beans and rice!
No difference in taste to me
I guess you eat the greener ones first. How long do you store them?
I just cook them all together at the same time
Amen! 😆😇
What type of watering system do you have? How often & how long do you water please?
Inground irrigation system. Water enough to moisten soil not saturated.
We don’t have any seeds. Didn’t save any when we moved. I got these at Baker Creek Seed Company ❤️
Do you think they will grow up here in a colder climate?
They love the cooler climates
How do you store those, just put the beans into a canning jar? Do you allow the un-dried ones (the ones with green or yellow shells) to dry out first, before shucking and storing them?
For the dry ones we vacuum seal and store dry. For the others we blanch and vacuum seal and freeze.
OK thanks!
Your not fat your pleasantly plump!😁
You are too kind
Hello from king n.c
Do y’all can the peas or store dry
We freeze
No mulch Hollis? I live in Florida, between the hot weather during the day, I'd be watering every day. Then there's the squirrels, bugs etc., these wouldn't survive one day. Any advice?
Sandra Bentley this was filmed when they still lived in Virginia.
I won’t change my method now that I live in Florida other than my watering
Can you plant the dried beans next year?
Yes you can👍
can u eat the green and yellow stage?? can you can them??
Yes
thank u
Do you fix the green ones the same as the dried ones?
Cook the dried ones slow and longer than the green ones
Thanks love your videos! keep up the good work!
At what stage are they suitable to be used as seeds to replant and what stage to be eaten.
Stage 5 for both
👍👍👍
What do you do with your excess produce?
We give it to people in need
What day did you plant them?
Wait for nighttime lows to be above 65 degrees
Look like Adzuki beans...
Why not Florida?
I know right
Is that video from your old home? did you save seeds to take to florida?
It's from his old place.
will those seeds grow in your new area? I am in az and would like to try them
Yes, this video is from our old home. I did not save any seeds but yes, they will thrive in Florida. They love hot weather
cool so they will love our monsoon weather in arizona, watching your asparagus videos and replanting them in the buckets after I go to lowes. any paticular seed co you recommend besides burpee?
Our LORD is glorious, REJOICE. As for aches and pains, look into MSM, essential oils, Dr Josh Axe, vids have good information.
