Thank you Dr Parrish for all your educational videos. I used to be on alprazolam and Ambien a few years ago and weaned myself off after a few years . After listening to your videos I no longer live in the past. I had a tough life as an adolescent because of my Dad's type 1 diabetes. I lost my Dad when I was 24 yrs old and it traumatized me. I believe I had pre and post traumatic stress disorder because I was terrified seeing my father getting sicker until the inevitable end of his life Because of the knowledge you gave me I feel peace, mental clarity and know that I'm not that voice in my head . You're doing God's work and saving lives, please don't stop . God bless you ❤
Thanks. The relief is only temporary until it becomes a practice then it gets a lot easier. I have to keep telling myself that., .... if there is any thinking at all.
Hi David, thank you for your video, I’ve only just stumbled across you and am curious about something before diving deeper. As someone who has spent time in the “Neo-Advaita” world as well as with older more time tested traditional teachings, primarily Advaita Vedanta, I’m wondering where you stand on some key differences. Traditional Vedanta as I assume you probably know takes issue with the Neo “direct path” approach on the grounds that it only teaches Satya but not Mithya. Whilst meditation is certainly emphasised as an essential means of "preparing" the mind for Self knowledge to “arise", it also emphasis qualifications, necessary lifestyle considerations/re-orientations such as karma yoga (attitude with respect to actions and its results), guna management and understanding of the jiva/Isvara (God) dynamic. It argues that all of these things are critical in order to sufficiently cultivate the psychological “environment” needed for hard and fast Self knowledge to take root, rather than remain in the domain for fleeting experiences. Would love to hear your thoughts and sorry if this is addressed in pervious content, feel free to link me if so. Cheers
How would you respond to this (whoever reading this): Does sitting down quietly affect all areas of life though? Outside of sitting down quietly alone and getting a good feeling sensation .. what place does meditation have? Many people have said that their practice of meditation have become repetitive and mechanical and they eventually stopped. They see the worthiness of it in the moment of doing it, but outside of that it seems to offer no purpose.
Look into Joe Dispenzas work..... he has all the science to back up how meditation is basically soul food! Best way I can describe. Less time in the ego, less time in fight or flight equals well being and peace.
It's not just sitting down quietly though. That's part of what he's saying here. It's just practice for the biggest picture where your mind is quiet more often than not, and it happens whether you're in meditation or not
Formal meditation is the practice of meditating, when we practice it enough, we are able to get into informal mediation, which is essentially being in a meditative state, whether or not, we are meditating. Formal Meditation is like taking a raft across the lake to a peaceful garden. You can't stay there forever; you have to go home, but if you visit long enough, you can take the peace of the garden with you- which is informal meditation. Practice makes perfect.
This video starts at the middle of something. What's "the teaching" that says these things? Who's saying that "living in a thought world" causes crimes against people, people being abused, people being poor, hungry and out of money, cold that can cause frostbite hurting, accidental injuries hurting? "There's no now"? "Time doesn't actually exist." So you're saying, none of these things actually exist, none of these situations where people suffer, because there's never any time where these things happen? This all sounds like batshit crazy automatic fire denial of everything real. Listened up to 4:30, can't take more time on it, and that doesn't matter because time isn't real anyway, right?
Your mind is trying to make sense of something that is beyond it. Of course it sounds like nonsense, it can't be understood it can only be experienced. Time is real on one level (your mind) and not real on another (in the moment). If you're interested in experiencing this then practice being completely with the moment and going deeper than your mental chatter. If you're not interested in experiencing this, then don't bother. But you have no right to say something is nonsense until you've sincerely been dedicated to experiencing it
I'm just curious: did someone ask you to watch this or did it end up on your feed? If someone asked you to watch it, just move on. If UA-cam decided you should watch it, I'm going to say it might come into focus later on. That's what happened to me. It all seemed like nonsense at first. But after many hours of meditation I get it now. I think you will too. You are not the you you think you are and once that is realized, this will all make sense.
@@karabean This video was in my feed, after looking for a lot of out-of-the-box things. I don't appreciate people constantly lying and saying directly not true things, because they've bought into "non-duality" that says everything is both true and false, so they might as well say any contradiction to truth that they want to say to get a moment of "wow" from the point of view of being high on spirituality. I've reached a point that I want to call out BS and evil as being BS and evil and wrong, despite what anyone else might think of that.

Thx for the reminder to just relax and be awareness! 🙏🧘♂️
Needed this. 😊
Awesome ❤❤❤

It may seem that way in the short term, but it is your mind that is trying to blind you from the long term benefits. Listen to David a bit more.❤️🌻

Meditation is just resting in being. It can be done anywhere under any circumstances.

@@SonnyMoonieFair enough. I can say I certainly have felt that way once.
