    Hi Alfredo! I really love your videos and completely understand the importance of recalibration. Just wondering about the Eye Sight recalibration though. The cameras are on the headliner and aren’t moved during installation. Why is it they want them recalibrated?

      Rick Collins the way it made sense to me. Picture this if you where to remove glasses off your face and put them back on you would have to readjust so you could see clearly again. No every single windshield is made exactly the same so the distortion is different, or when setting the glass to high or to low this things make a huge difference for the camera. Some camera’s have burned out because it would constantly try to adjust through a windshield with high distortion. There are many other reasons but it’s really true. You must recalibrate after every replacement.

    I have 2016 prius and I have Lane assist and brake assist all I can say is this system is not working no matter if it was recalibrated correctly if the tire size was change or the tire pressure is low this thing is useless I do mechanic work by myself this thing is only working above 45mph and only recognizes very clear lanes. Manufacturers are cheating people by putting this system because it's unsafe it's not helping at all and the damn system doesn't even work when it's sunny or when it's raining so it's pointless package it gives people false hope.

      Did you check if the system is on or not? Most of the time it's because it was accidentally hit or press and that's why it's not working.

    So let's cut the crap. How much is the calibration really off if at all on a brand new clear windshield? I'm guessing not much if at all.

      My job is to do camera calibrations after windshield replacements. I'd say maybe 1 out of 100 are improved after the calibration is completed. But most of the time it seems to make no difference at all. Especially on Subarus where the camera is in the headliner and never moved.

    I have found that Subarus tend to be far more difficult to calibrate than most vehicles what is your opinion on this? I don’t know if it’s lighting or watt but sometimes it takes me multiple tries. I’m using the Autel system

    • @wickermanfluxcompression290
      @wickermanfluxcompression290 3 роки тому +1

      The target board for the Autel system is more sensitive to light than optiaim. I've used both. Autel is better overall because the target board is so much easier to level and set to the correct height than the magnet board you get with optiaim. When you have your target board setup make sure there's no dark shadows directly underneath and lighting is evenly distributed. If you get a distance NG proceed to distance correlation. That usually passes and will ask to perform an accuracy reading. 99 out of 100 times you should get a successful reading. I use the mobile system too. I can do my setup, pre scan, calibration and post scan done in less than 15 minutes. Hope this helps.

      @@wickermanfluxcompression290 I had a Acura MDX last week and the Autel instructions set target height to 1100mm and the vehicle would not calibrate after days of research I found that on the larger Honda Acura SUVs you need to raise the target a additional 100 mm and then it finally passed the static test. But it was very frustrating trying to figure this out and having to have the customer bring the vehicle back in

    • @wickermanfluxcompression290
      @wickermanfluxcompression290 3 роки тому +1

      @@jglassman1122 I learned that pretty early on myself with the Hondas and Acuras that are static plus dynamic calibration. For me I could still get passed the static at 1100mm but the dynamic portion would do nothing. It has to do with Autel using a smaller target board than OEM which allows you to shoot it at 3000mm instead of 6000mm. A huge convenience. They do offer the target board for 6000mm but it's such a pain in the ass to set up since the boards have to be 1200mm apart instead of 700mm which can't be done on the arm extensions on the portable stand so you have to move the stand each time. Just try and remember to shoot SUVs, trucks and vans at 1200mm height and should be good to go.

    • @kalkent8363
      @kalkent8363 2 роки тому +1

      Two types of calibration dynamics which you have to drive the vehicle and statics which require a targeting board. Subarus, Volkswagen, and some Honda’s require both. If you have a vehicle that needs a static calibration it needs to go to a shop which is most foreign vehicles. American vehicles you can do on the street

Both have their pros and cons. It would be nice to talk and watch someone with more experience as Quality information is hard to find the training for my system was only two days and that’s a lot to cram in two days. • @AlfredosAutoGlassRepairCorona
      @AlfredosAutoGlassRepairCorona  4 роки тому +3

      Joe Son It really doesn’t matter if you unplug or not. New glass is install. The decking or the position will never be exactly the same but worse is the distortion on the glass. Many cameras have burn due to not been able to focus correctly. Camera could cost up to $1,000 or more. There are quite a few different other reasons why. We learned more and more as starting to get involved in recalibrating.

    • @wickermanfluxcompression290

      It's covered by insurance if the customer has it. If they don't I'd recommend declining the calibration. 99 out of 100 times everything should be fine and calibration is expensive. Not worth it. If there's a problem than likely the calibration would fail anyways and the windshield would need to be replaced again.

      More or less around $300-$400 depending why they need to be recalibrate. Just like mine I installed my lift kit for the 2020 Subaru Forester base model and I went for alignment they told me that because newer cars have eyesight this need to be recalibrated again for safety purposes but I told them that I disconnected the battery before I did the work and turned off the safety features they have because I know there's a big chance that a code might come out but thankfully after reconnecting the battery no code or error came out even I checked with my code reader obd2 scanner. I drove my car and turned on the safety features everything works well I even drove in the highway and the eyesight lane keep assist and sway warning works perfectly fine, pre-collision braking is working as well, adapted cruise control works as well. This is why I hate newer cars because of the technology they added in other words if you do something make sure your prepare to pay something :P.

      @@julianix143 Your eyesight system, without a doubt, is not functioning properly. The fact that you think you need codes set to have a problem, shows you have no idea what these systems are or how these systems work. Go try and calibrate that camera. You'll never be able to do it. It's fine that your car has altered safety systems, but don't act like it functions as designed, and "disconnecting a battery" saved you a calibration XD
