Hope you like the video! A real head scratcher at times, but ultimately a great outcome for being sat so long and I loved every minute of doing it. The part two is also out now and I'm currently scuffing my knuckles on the next Scimitar video ❤️

I worked and restored a few of those. I don't know about export models but since yours is a Z16, I can tell you it doesn't have a Z16 upholstery but from a one year only PL17 L1 (the only year the PL17 had suicide doors, your spare engine is probably from the same car that donnated it's upholstery).
Those "towers" next to the spark plugs are the torsion bars for the valve (yes torsion bars).
I don't know if you know that already but the crank is mounted on ball bearings and the connecting rod are needle bearing. If you have some slack when moving the fan back and forth by hand : you're in for a crankshaft rebuilt, you cannot do that at home (because of the needle bearings that are not publicly available and assembly process of the crank/con rod themselves) and it is extremely expensive.
No sheetmetal is available for those cars, don't even bother buying the couple of sh!t parts that exists : make your own. Inside the rockers are the actual frame rails, I'm 100% confident that your car needs at least the 5 bottom centimeter of those frame rail replaced, it's always so when the rockers are rusted out.
Good luck, I hope it's not an investment because they are cheap to buy in good condition at least for the left hand drive can't tell for the RHD because you simply never see them. If it was me I would buy a LHD one to restore the RHD.

Some great info thank you, I think it'll be worth getting it on the ramp and seeing what it's like and how viable it would be to get it back on the road, maybe keep it's condition as it is just a bit cleaner and less big holes! Just need a gear linkage cable and a brake master and the clutch needs freeing and it'll be a lot easier to move it around

I was fascinated by the Panhard when I was a kid - according to the 1959 Observers book of automobiles that was rarely out of my hand in 59 (I was 10) the Panhard had a top speed of 90 mph. Seemed amazing from a twin! Not sure if that was actually right of course and you rarely saw them in the flesh as, again if I remember right, they were very expensive for what they were. But it’s great to see one again. I’d love to see it back in it’s 1950s glory. Keep it up Ben!

I have the same edition. The Dyna Z 16 is on page 200. Apparently they made a convertible too.
PS: The bit missing at the front under the bonnet lip is the 3rd (centre) headlight. My mum had a 1962 (I think) PL17. Ran great with its suicide doors and drop down back seat back giving access to the boot. The only problem was finding someone to service it properly.

I live in the US and I have only ever seen one Citroen 2CV (as far as I can remember). I did however own a 1987 Renault Alliance L with a 1.7L SOHC 4 cylinder with an automatic that ran PERFECT, but it could not pass emissions testing no matter what I did to correct it. (Same as an MOT, but less strict). I drove that car for eight or nine months all over my area and I only ever got one ticket for not having windshield stickers for emissions and inspection (screw you Pennsylvania BS!). I got that thing up to 120 MPH on a few occasions with no problem and I only paid $150 for it!

I saw one on the road about 18 months ago. Gobsmacked as it was the first I had seen in 50 years. Good luck. Previous one was a Tigre, a sports saloon with more bhp, bug eye headlights, and the tail lights were mounted horizontally not vertically. Some unfortunate American serviceman had bought it. It was grey. Yours has Michelin X tyres, stop tread pattern. Lethal in the wet, used to break away and aquaplane. That number plate makes it late 58 through 59. My first car had a 4 numeral EV plate.

Horizontally opposed piston engine. With those old cars, they're quite simple, which means it will be easy to work on. How many wires could there be in it? For the lights, radio, ignition, and from the alternator or generator, dependingonwhatyearit was built in. There's additionally the wire that goes to the choke, with the exception of it being a mechanical style of that. This would mean that there'll be a knob inside the cabin attached to a small rod, which would go to the choke blades. This will allow more fuel to travel through the air inlet manifold.

It needs to be rescued, or at least protected and parked for another 48 years. With it being so rare in would be ok to have a custom restore with different parts from other cars. J. Walter Christie of the United States patented a design for a front-wheel-drive car, the first prototype of which he built in 1904.

Very very rare and scarce piece of automotive history for sure and a needs a very brave restoration definitely. Will take a lot to do it but would be worth a fortune afterwards. Might need club support or someone in the know to source anything missing parts wise. Not much is available for this unless you go to France or elsewhere to get things needed. It is a PL17 model but with early interior and engine maybe. Maybe last on the road in 1975 . Get a donor car and there’s half of your battle done for you.

Great stuff, and a lovely motor, pity the French always have a habit of putting stuff in the way of things you need to get to. In the 80s a friend of mine asked me to give his peugeot 305 est. a tune-up, opening the bonnet and seeing the spare wheel there was just a mild indication of worse things to come.😂

That is nothing... In Finland one showroom car restoration began from swamp when its half, empty, rusty body shell was digged up.
