This happened during the 1920s. When Londos wrestled in MSG, it was on the bill of Jack Curley, not McMahon, who would not acquire exclusivity rights to promote in the building until the late-50s.

In terms of works, they evolved over time. Even in the pre-work era of the 1800s, wrestlers like William Muldoon learned that spectators on his tours didn't enjoy paying to see multi-hour matches with long stretches of little to no action. He and other top attractions learned that "selling" a bit in terms of being in jeopardy of losing was good for business.

Nagurski lacked legit grappling skill. He was a hall of fame football player. But he could fake it with the best of them. Londos on the other hand did have some legit grappling skill. He wasn't as good as a few of his contemporaries, but good enough to work marks.
I've dabbled in watching some pre-80s wrestling before but this is the first time I'm honestly hyped and excited. Commentator is amazing as well.
