    5:44 As far as I know, the output terminals are potential-free.
    Therefore, some safety distance was provided, as you could see on the backside. Very good, if low voltage circuitry is switched with the output.

    I recently installed the 1PM-Plus to monitor my dishwasher. Installation was difficult because my American house is wired with 12AWG wire. The Shellies don’t handle a wire that size in general, and this model specifically wouldn’t accept it at all. But I got creative and moved past the roadblock. Also, I had trouble with MQTT not sending the sensor values, so I instead used the CoIoT interface with Home Assistant. All is well now as it is working great and the dishwasher is well monitored.

    Absolutely amazing video. Just a small request for us non native-speakers. If possible in future videos, use overlays/annotations or what not to show numbers and model names when you mention them. It is sometimes very hard to understand/grasp those in the natural speed of your delivery
    Especially for people like me with problems understanding spoken numbers

    Can I, with this device, control let's say an overhead light via a "regular 120v switch" and/or wireless?
    The picture on their product page shows the device sitting inside the outlet box. Does this really sit in the same box as the switch even when the req'd 8" of wiring tails are also present.
    I've not seen any DIY video that shows an actual in wall installation. Just wiring it on a workbench.

    I am so happy the switch plate doesn't have the LEDs. My family is super sensitive to the LED light pollution that most of these switches have. I think that they were listening to the audience.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  5 місяців тому

      In many of them you can actually disable the LED (not all as sometimes it's linked through hardware) a piece of electrical tape can also cover them up neatly on the PCB if you particularly like the switch

    Thank you Matt. Re the switch only device, having a 4physical button option makes it much easier to use than the single button they had before. Sadly I don’t see the option to run those battery powered which will make them super handy free standing remote controls with 4buttons.

      As they use WiFi to talk to the cloud anything battery powered would last a very short time.

      Something went out of the chart? Can share the timestamp to see what caused the spike. Everything was done with one breath so other than intro music it should need equalisation on the track as I'm not mixing separate audio tracks in the voiceover

    for high current draw applications its not good if the L and N are going true the shelly to the consumetion unit (water heater, dryer etc), you need to use wago (or other terminal) or it will overheat, they say that on the fb support page

  • @carlogetsov2660

    Can you share your thoughts about the shelly blu gateway? I cannot decide which brand to go with, sonoff or shelly. Sonoff has more detailed information on the web where shelly lacks.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  6 місяців тому

      Shelly is a great choice if you want to go DIY way and not worry about flashing your devices as their firmware supports a lot of features. You will pay extra for that. If budget is the biggest concern, go with Sonoff.

    Another great video Mat, thanks. We’ve installed a number of 1PM Plus as part of a house rewire to monitor larger appliances. Some quality hardware (even our electrician liked them!) and after 3 months the power monitoring seems reliable and stable.
    Shelly have made some significant changes to their MQTT behaviour and interface in the new Plus series and like another commenter we’ve sadly found this much more challenging to get running. Seems there is so far limited guidance /examples from Shelly online so if you happen to have success with MQTT on these new devices (particularly power monitoring) we’d love to know how you managed it. Thanks.

    Fantastic video! I really appreciate the introduction to Shelly switches. Could you recommend a specific model that allows for light dimming? I'm interested in a switch that enables us to adjust brightness levels through the app. My plan is to retrofit these switches into the back boxes of my current dimmer switches to upgrade them to smart ones.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  8 місяців тому

      Dimming is a pain. It depends on the lights you use. I usually resolve the dimming with ZigBee bulb and nice wireless switch

    • @rakeshpun9659
      @rakeshpun9659 8 місяців тому

      @notenoughtech That sounds great, but we want to retrofit existing dimmer switches which are brushed brass to match the interior design for the whole house. Some of these switches control chandeliers which we dim when creating an ambient atmosphere. Im not sure if smart bulbs would work in a chandelier that 20 / 30 small bulbs in them? we also have spot lights around the house too which we would want to dim too. which bulbs do you recommend? and does Shelly offer a switch that can do this in your opinion?

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  8 місяців тому

      There is a Shelly dimmer you could use .. but the downfall is that you would need appropriate bulbs otherwise they may flicker or never turn off fully. Do you like your chandeliers this much 🙈🙈🙈

      @rakeshpun9659 8 місяців тому

    Regarding the Shelly Plus 2PM, with the Shelly 2.5 you can configure it to use for a shutter to drive the L/R motor. That also seems possible with the Plus 2PM but is that shows up as 2 switches that is different from the 2.5. How would you configure it for shutters and have it run based on motor resistance?

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  2 роки тому +1

      Before the device is added to the Shelly Cloud, it needs configuration. I set it as 2 channel relay, hence 2 devices. It should show up as a motor controller if you change the device settings.

    I use it in my store. The connection was easily. No issues at all.
    When I give orders with my mobile
    connected in the same network there's no problem. Shelly connection with cloud is ok. But.....when my phone connected with another network and try to connected with Shelly, the device is offline. I can't control it. The are working perfectly both only on the same network.
    I reboot it. I reset it. Nothing changed.....Any idea what's the issue?.....
