A frigate engine in a battleship and a point defense weapon as a primary weapon? I can only imagine what would happen if they ran into a human fleet...
@@kambulwatts3309 not so much I more adhere to the first two rules of engineering and that makes me a heretic to the admech. if hitting it with a hammer doesn’t fix it you need a bigger hammer and if that doesn’t fix it use more duct tape
@@chrisllewellyn5246 you can hit it with the ritual hammers still just after the prayers are said, the holy incense are burning and the ritualistic sacrifice of a apprentice is completed.
Sounds cheesy when laid out like this. But with a good engineer the machines do talk. It's not in words exactly, but it does tell us what it needs. I could do it with computers. It can get kinda spooky for some.
Percussive maintenance is definitely a thing. I'm an electrician, and just a couple days ago, a colleague was beating on a conduit. I watched for a second, and he said "What, you think I shouldn't be hitting it?". I simply replied "No, you're hitting the wrong side-hit if from the other direction". He did, and it worked.

I like how it goes from Greg's first day on the job, to Greg being a seasoned engineer that knows exactly what to do.
The machine spirits in human tech are particularly picky. Treat them with the utmost respect.
Ave Machina!
Love these two stories...Greg is now a permanent friend of the human engine and turrets because he understands them and puts them before himself
So humans trolled some aliens with engineering manuals and almost magical machinery; Good story, good narration.
Not even trolled. Human tech just has machine spirits.
Never anger the machine spirits. It is your own death.
Humans are the supreme gremlin wranglers in the universe.
Definitely NEVER anger the machine spirits AT ALL COSTS. Because doing so costs you all not just your life.
Oh no I just angered the machine spirits how do I appease the machine spirits please help meeee

A frigate maneuvering thruster engine if i heard correctly
Not the main thrust engine
Engineering is very much a religion I believe in such cases.
Truly enjoyed Greg’s story
Very well read sir ! Hazah 🖖
Whos a glorious machine of death.
yes you are!
yesh you are!
lol
Man this thing's a bitch to fix!
Yeah, the humans *"bodged"* it together.
Aah, that scans.
A day in the life of the adeptus mechanicus

You get strange looks when you walk into a room filled with machines and instantly know what broke without being told as you know your machines.
Ah good ole Percussive maintianince. 😌

I'd like to see them actually meet a human ship engineering crew.
"WHAT DID THEY DO TO YOUR SHIP?! Oh my god.. you get a safety violation, and you get a safety violation, and you get a safety violation..."
