Keeping it alive with 1 peak player on Steam Charts for the last 5 years and the only spike is from your video with the 35 players you played with. I love this game, audio, engine, etc. but I hate that there is not enough players. All I am asking for is HLL numbers. 5k daily and we're good. Otherwise, can't justify it.
i have a question about how many players can play in one server ? checking steam db and the player count on Saturdays is around 25 to 35. I want to make sure that if i buy the game i dont get locked out for being in a full server. steam sale ends in 2 days for when i typed this.
I just wanted to add my thoughts on this. I like Squad 44, and Squad. However, I have some issues with Squad 17 conceptually. WW1 is very very hard to get right. If you want a realistic world war 1 game, the closest thing we have to it is Verdun, and even then it falls short at being a bit too arcadey for me. Now, the problem with this game. First of all, it doesn't get trench fighting well. How many guys are spread across the map, 100 at most right? That leaves about 50 men on both sides, which is about the size of an infantry platoon. Attacks consisted of entire companies, thousands of men, running across open fields and getting mowed down by machine guns. That is very very hard to do in an FPS. This is basically just Squad44 but with some ww1 paint put over it. I do think that these factors could be mitigated though. Smaller map sizes, forced pauses between points like in Verdun. Also the gunplay seems straight up terrible most of the time, precision shots are hard to take because it feels like my mouse stutters across the screen instead of moving smoothly. (Squad 44 and Squad do not have this issue). But yeah, the bottom line is I think most players wouldn't enjoy an authentic ww1 experience beyond strategy games like "The Great War, Western Front." due to the repetitiveness of it, they amount of dying they would do, either due to artillery, rifle fire, or machine gun fire. Let me know if anyone has some stuff to add to this, or if anyone disagrees with me, I am open to any new perspectives.
THIS is what Squad's ICO idea came from... The Gunplay is hard on purpose. There is extra weapon sway, and that is to, inspire more MELEE! Beyond The Wire has a 4-way directional melee system like Mordhau or Mount & Blade... I can tell you this, these clips were taken from games with 30-40 players. A BTW server with 100 players, FULL, there is nothing else like it in gaming.. period Come play with us! lol
BTW blows Verdin out of the water. It's far more intense and the maps are better. I think the map size to player ratio is perfect unlike HLL where the maps feel empty despite there being 100 players.
@@boogie5 I don't mind the weapon sway, my problem with the gunplay is it feels less smooth if you will than Squad 44. What I mean by that, is instead of my cursor moving smoothly across the screen, it instead feels like there are like... stutters almost?
the maps in BTW are verry small in comparison to squad and sq44 and with a 100 player server it is the most chaotic (fun) game of the three. I think most maps are like 150-200x5000 meters or so.
