wow! This is for eternity .. Best version I've heard - they all are on fire ! I hope the Aussies know what a diamond of rock music & lyrics they have down there
Seen them twice in recent years and always hoped I would hear my favourite song…. not to be. Great gigs still. “One long day is all it takes to steal her heart away….
Seeing Cold Chisel & Hello Sailor 50th Anniversary Tour in Hamilton NZ on Wed 24th April 2024 I just discovered this what a masterpiece back when Jimmy was 16 in 1974
Oh my sweet Lord Just rediscovered this tune on the swing shift album with Dave Blight and Ian Moss trading licks at tfe the start, then found this version, goes hand-in-hand with a bottle of Jack Daniel's, I reckon...my new go-to song......
Well charlie has been around for a while now, two different drummers, two different eras and two completely different styles.. he is damn good, sure he ain't no steve prestwich but who else could fill the shoes ( and what big shoes to fill), he does alright.. and remember without him there maybee chisel would have called it quits and ..
...to quote from the last stand video,, when they done a gig at a prison, some lark yelled out, wouldn't mind a piece of the bass player, George lmfao....
Well......that sucked.......not a great showcase, no Prestwich..... On the plus side Mossy hasn’t lost any fire in his playing.....dunno....matter of opinion I guess - they peaked 38 years ago. To be expected . This does sound a bit like a tribute act lumbering through what is usually a brilliant song..... if you don’t believe me, go now and listen the version Live at Bombay Rock 1979
How would you know? Any self respecting Aussie would have been ripped off his tits smashed at the Bombay back in the late 70's. I was too young but made up for it when I was legal 3 years later. I dont remember half the gigs I saw there or at my other haunt the Sarah Sands. I had plenty of mates 4 or 5 years older that lived at the Bombay and heard some amazing stories. My older Brother played in bands there a fair bit as well before my time. The drummer does ok but he's not Steve Prestwich.
Mate I reckon that’s pretty harsh We all love Steve, this is more the tempo of the album, the swing shift version is a moment in time that is the band at its best, hungry with some acclaim but still heaps to prove. At it’s best, this is still great a more mature mood ..Ian still plays great but not like 79… Don’t hammer Charlie. Because he sits on the throne we get to go to Chisel gigs.. And by the way is an outstanding drummer
@@iankearns774 How would I know? I worked with a founding member for years. Self respecting "Aussie" ripped off his tits? Change Aussie to Bogan. We went for the music, and Chisel were a force of nature...you missed it - ripped off your tits I guess....
suck isn't the word I would of used but I do agree this was not CC at their best mossy sounded like he had his front teeth kicked in even Jimmy sounded like he was only putting in about 75% effort to be fair that's prolly 110% for most other people
Astonishing. They played One Long Day in Sydney 2024. I still have shivers down my spine 2 days later.
I'll be seeing them in December
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited
Been a fan since the 70s

Ladies and Gentlemen. I give you... the greatest rock band on earth.
Seen them live 5 times; 1998 reunion, twice in 2004 and 2011. I rate them just slightly behind Midnight Oil as a live act.
@@thedys70 without a doubt the best ever
@@thedys70 Meadowbank boys high school dance in 1978 . Played Zeppelin numbers.
GOLD...!!!!
A truly brilliant band. They should have had more recogntion internationally as they were better than most other bands around.
My fave song of theirs, great to see them up there clearly enjoying themselves

I'm totally staggered by that ...
Charley Drayton is in a class of his own, in the zone @4:04
Great song and great performance from the band. Funny thing, just after the song ended i had the opening bars of "Northbound Train" in my head?
Brilliant✌🏼👊🏼

That tom sounds empty and wrongly tuned...Look..It is a straight shuffle..nothing to complex.
Bit of the old Purdie shuffle going on there.

Man, the new drummer plays in the Prestwitch style, it's gotta be to sound like Chisel ;-) awesome
...how tight is Phil Small, mmmm, tasty...that bass.....
far too busy...let it breathe
