I sort of lost respect for Anna. Her desire to win is greater than her sense of fair play. The last shot up the line... that is an easy call for the one hitting the shot and Anna complained about the out call. She knows better than anyone that her ball was out yet she argued the point. Also, where do they get these referees ... are they random people off the street. If pickleball wants to be considered a serious sport, they need to fix this line call thing fast. It is like having a baseball batter calling his own balls and strikes. Wake up and make thing happen now before people lose interest in the professional aspect of the sport.
Ref at the net on championship and grandstand courts is usually a paid professional ref (using the term paid lightly). The line judges and the rest of the courts are usually manned by local/regional volunteer refs.
This 100%! It's exactly what I said in an Instagram post. Stuff like this deters someone like me who enjoys watching the pro games from following the pro tours, what do you think those who haven't been that into it would feel when they see stuff like this? It's disgraceful!
Those are at least judgments calls , How about AB calling ball out after she was looking right at ball Hitting her partner Fahey in the foot in the air. Fahey knew it and after AB said out went into oh it hit me to OH really out LMAO!!

You are the reason I enjoy watching any pro pickleball. Every week you deliver an unbiased synopsis of every tournament and a detailed summary of each pro division. Your footage is perfect, and you somehow cover all the pertinent series and drama in a succinct fashion. AND you do all of this with some of the best color commentary in the entire sports. Works.
Looked like her paddle touched the kitchen after her volley. No shame in that fault though. That was an excellent rally that ended with one opponent not being able to maintain control of their balance. Good call, great rally. Even better sportsmanship.

That Don Stanley reversal on Davidze was diabolical after not seeing any of ALWs terrible calls. Also ALW needs to get a grip. Ben Johns has the same pressure she does to be number 1 and is known for generous line calls. How can it not be embarrassing.

Daescu said the pinetar paddle was his training partner's who used it to simulate higher-level play spin as his partner is not a professional or something along those lines.
Seems odd his partner would use one of his paddles but if that’s his story he should explain that a little more clearly I think recording a video would have gone a long way - better than just a tweet
The bottom of the ball has to hit the line! That spot is smaller than a dime! (Tennis ball is different...more speed, more power, ball is way more flat on the landing...)

Pine tar is for gripping on handle, but it’s powder so it can drift anywhere. That guy would never cheat. Penalty is another example of PPA being clueless !
You can't use a "the guy would never cheat" as reasoning. He is competitive and wants to win. I know he is a great guy and probably wouldn't cheat, but you can't assume that. He also admitted to putting it there, so it didn't just "drift anywhere"
I am surprised that they allow the pros to aimlessly walk around after a point. Taking their time, looking for their towel, catching a break. Isn’t there a service clock rule?
The time between rallies is still hardly enough for a replay unless you want to miss serve/return. Pace of play is not really an issue IMO and from a production standpoint it is arguably too fast.
I think the top pros should boycott PPA until they get more suitable technology for line calls. It's simply unsustainable the way it's going. It lends itself only to more immaturity, entitlement, unsportsmanlike conduct, etc.

When you are moving you can miss close calls; and when big money in a big point is on the line: to see what you want to see. The story line here: Devidze's drives had more penetration - had more penetration because she was stepping into each shot - because her footwork was better on this day than the best player in the world.

Don't play tournaments when referees cannot make right line calls..., the players should not only call the balls out, and in no way should have the last say! And no tournaments with fast and efficient camera replay...(for side lines, base lines, kitchens and medians)
I wonder how that would work considering they don't use tournament purposed courts that have the infrastructure to house such cameras and equipment instead its more of a traveling circus show that uses clubs/other large pickleball facilities that they can use for the weekend to host the tournament from what I have heard.
They need to either invest in a better replay system or penalize these silly biases. It makes the sport less professional. We like the drama and rivalries, but the unfair calls and favoritism within PPA (players and officials alike) are just unreal at this point. Makes a lot of people uninterested. Because, to be frank, a lot of us would rather go out and play than watch anyway!
