Seems like yesterday,but in '87,I graduated high school and was in my naval training class the same summer HonkyTonk took the IC title and Tully and Arn were going at it with the Rock n Roll Express,I'm looking forward to hearing their side of that year indeed.

In 1993 I became aware that WWF did A,B,C shows because my first WWF show was SummerSlam 92 at the old Wembley Stadium and in early 93 my parents got my best friend, brother and I tickets to see a show in Exeter and we were shocked that WWF would come down this part of the country to run a show at Exeter which is 48 miles away from my home city of Plymouth, normally WWF/WWE run shows in London, Birmingham and Manchester (and recently Cardiff in Wales). So I was excited as I thought I was gonna see my favourite wrestler the Undertaker again as his match at SummerSlam 92 against Kamala wasn’t the best and this time my seat was 4 rows back from the ring where as at SummerSlam I was further away. Main event was Hacksaw Jim Duggan Vs Narcissist Lex Luger and the Bushwhackers were on the card as was Bob Backland and I can’t remember who else as I was so disappointed by what wrestlers were there. Now I know WWE run A shows in big cities like London and the only reason a small city like Exeter (Exeter is the capital city of Devon county but Plymouth is the largest city in Devon) is to give us the C show with all the old and unpopular wrestlers who nobody cares about, but as a kid I didn’t know the WWE did that and if I had known I wouldn’t of gone. But seeing SummerSlam 7-9 months earlier I was expecting all or some of the top wrestlers like Undertaker, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Razor Ramon, Steiner Brothers or Money Inc to be there, but my best mate was happy as he liked Narcissist Lex Luger and was glad to see him win the Main Event against Jim Duggan

I lived wrestling in the 80s and Tully Blanchard could have been world champion he had more wrestling talent than most guys had. Not taking anything away from Flair
Tully was brilliant. He got much more intense heat than Ric Flair got. I'm not sure he was long term world champion material, but definitely deserved at least one world title win.
He had too much heat . Like it hurt him heat . He became unpopular . Looking back he was one of the best heels if all time but many of us just wanted him to go away . We believed that when we lined up to see Wahoo McDaniel beat him up that Wahoo drew the house , but a week later we were paying to see Barry Windham beat him up . Thinking Barry Windham sold that ticket . A month later we were Paying to See Magnum Beat him up and STILL !! We thought Magnum sold the ticket . We didn’t realize that Tully himself was making us dislike him so greatly ( we might have appreciated that like we did with Arn and Ric ) . We thought it was organic so we never gave him credit . He was too good for his own good .

Looking at this format now - it makes sense - have the time lines of the 2 companies coincide to get the reaction of each interviewee in the event of a scandal or wrestler defecting from one company to another - also PPV's being opposite each other - I.e Starrcade 87, being opposed by Survivor Series 87 in the promotional wars.
I agree, Tully was the heel of the group, especially after Ole left. Arn and Flair were heels, but they were the kind of heels you'd like to party with. Tully was the kind of heel you knew you had to keep an eye on if you partied with him. You might wake up with something drawn on your face.

Honky wasn't just a great heel in 1987-- he was a 'corny' (in a good way) heel who helped cool heels finished their walk over the bridge to facedom.
I'm a northerner from Michigan and I prefer WCW to WWF at that time because they had better wrestling. At the same time WWF was really entertaining and fresh, but I viewed it as more for kids than WCW (until WCW became cartoonish too).
Except the wrong side won this time. Looking back at the post-1985 WWF stuff it's hard to imagine adults enjoyed this stuff at the time. It's so obviously made for children. The 80s JCP stuff looks very much like an 80s product in terms of production values, but at least it didn't feel like a kids television show until Jim Herd took over.

What made me angry was the I quit match wasn't even supposed to happen because the match before was Magnums last chance for the U S title Jim Crockett said that then a couple weeks later they announced it would be an I quit match just trying to force the fans to like Magnum

2:00:53 I’ve had several 240V electric shocks (our domestic voltage in England is 240V where as America is 110V)and was fine straight after and once when working on a 3 phase electrical system which is 415V (used in commercial and industrial buildings) I asked my employee if he had turned the electric off and he said yes but he hadn’t so I got a 415V electric shock and was fine after. Now while getting the 415V shock my did “flutter” (only way to describe it) as I felt my heart beat extremely fast and out of sync and it felt strange and yes my fingers hurt too as the current went through one hand up my arm across my chest down my other arm and out my other fingers (electricity will always take the shortest route). But I didn’t have electricity going through my body days later and for Piper to say that makes him look like an idiot as that’s not how electricity works

Honky Tonk, in my opinion, is a better shoot-guest than Cornette. Rarely repeats himself, leaves real-world politics out of the equation and is also funnier with his anecdotes. His venom also feels a lot more earnest and well delivered. Cornette still has wrestling's greatest podcast, though.
I'd put him as equal to Cornette shoots depending on one's mood. Cornette has an encyclopedic knowledge of deep wrestling history, the kind only a true fanatic could have. Honky is hilarious, often unintentionally, and he has a great memory for his career and has a perspective as a journeyman worker that Cornette doesn't. The nice thing is that Cornette is an authority of Crockett/WCW in the late 80s and Honky is for WWF, and both have worked all over the place before and since but rarely the same place.

No Honky the glass doesn’t conduct electricity. The reason lightbulbs don’t work when the glass is broken is the filament usually breaks then also. If it doesn’t break you can get shocked, but it probably didn’t happen.
Also if glass conducted electricity you could get an electric shock from the light bulb which no company would sell because of all the law suits it would get from people who’ve had an electric shock from touching the light bulb when it was on!!! Light bulb work two ways one has a tungsten filament which an electric current is put through and we get light from it heated filament that’s why they use tungsten as it has the highest melting/boiling point of all metals. Number two an electric current is put through a bulb which is full of a gas like neon, xenon or argon etc and the electrical current makes the gas glow giving us light and if glass did conduct electricity the gas bulbs would be especially dangerous. And there’s LEDs but they’re different to the previous two

Legally there are some things I cannot do on a commercial or industrial site which an electrician is the only person who can do it. (I could those bits but if there was an electrical accident my liability insurance wouldn’t cover me so I tell the customer to get an electrician in but I do get some who say “if you know how to do the work why don’t you just do it?” as they don’t want to pay for an electrician as well)

It's obviously going to be hard to follow the HTM as he is possibly THE best shoot interview speakers there is and i think was the original shoot interview for Kayfabe Commentaries. Granted there are probably worse out there to do a shoot on 1987 so maybe there wasn't really anyone else available. He's not the worst but just not able to compete with Honkey, he doesn't seem to get the concept that its talking about the year as a whole bit by bit from an outside looking in aswell as an inside looking out point of view, not just about HIM in his career alone. And he just laughs rather than comments on the issue like he'd rather not say anything or open up on it...well don't do the shoot interview then!.....

No Honky the glass doesn’t conduct electricity. The reason lightbulbs don’t work when the glass is broken is the filament usually breaks then also. If it doesn’t break you can get shocked, but it probably didn’t happen.
Also if glass conducted electricity you could get an electric shock from the light bulb which no company would sell because of all the law suits it would get from people who’ve had an electric shock from touching the light bulb when it was on!!! Light bulb work two ways one has a tungsten filament which an electric current is put through and we get light from it heated filament that’s why they use tungsten as it has the highest melting/boiling point of all metals. Number two an electric current is put through a bulb which is full of a gas like neon, xenon or argon etc and the electrical current makes the gas glow giving us light and if glass did conduct electricity the gas bulbs would be especially dangerous. And there’s LEDs but they’re different to the previous two

@@gregtanney2023 I’m not an electrician, my dad is by trade (he’s a high manager now of the National Grid) but I’m a refrigeration engineer and I have to have a knowledge of electricity because it’s part of my job. Legally there are some things I cannot do on a commercial or industrial site which an electrician is the only person who can do it. (I could those bits but if there was an electrical accident my liability insurance wouldn’t cover me so I tell the customer to get an electrician in but I do get some who say “if you know how to do the work why don’t you just do it?” as they don’t want to pay for an electrician as well)

This guys almost as boring as his gimmick (if he even had one in his wrestling career). Total wrong choice for an interview on 1987. It's obviously going to be hard to follow the HTM as he is possibly THE best shoot interview speakers there is and i think was the original shoot interview for Kayfabe Commentaries. Granted there are probably worse out there to do a shoot on 1987 so maybe there wasn't really anyone else available. He's not the worst but just not able to compete with Honkey, he doesn't seem to get the concept that its talking about the year as a whole bit by bit from an outside looking in aswell as an inside looking out point of view, not just about HIM in his career alone. And he just laughs rather than comments on the issue like he'd rather not say anything or open up on it...well don't do the shoot interview then!.....
