If you didn't watch the movie because you thought her character looks weird (eyes, etc) you made a huge mistake. The eyes and overall quality of her CGI in the actual movie is 10x as good as the trailer.

Some people complain if the adaptation drifts too far from the source others complain if it's too loyal and does not translate correctly. I think this looks pretty good because it is so close to the source material (from what is hinted in the trailer) Battle Angel was my favorite anime as a kid and very excited to see this. Great cast too.

Not gonna lie, I got goosebumps from the trailer despite Alita's creepy look. I've been waiting for this movie ever since James Cameron announced that he would make it all the way back in 2006 (or so). I loved the manga because it had a strong, moving story. From the trailer, I think that they tried to capture that instead of just turning Alita into some bimbo. I really want this movie to be good. I really, REALLY do.
It's difficult to express how amazing this movie is.. I really enjoyed I want to see more .

I had no idea about this comic or whatever it is. I had never heard a single word about the existence of this character.
This freaking trailer before whatever movie it might have been -- maybe Pacific Rim? -- made me an instant fan and made this movie a must watch in theatres.

This is the best trailer I’ve seen in so long.
Clearly, the eyes seem to be the most controversial thing about this movie. I for one kind of like it; it makes this movie stand out. Movies about robots that look perfectly human have been done to death. It makes since that she doesn't look quite human: she's a robot.
I will admit though, it's kind of eerie that she otherwise looks so realistic. Maybe they should have made her look less realistic so she'd look more like a computer animated character, and therefore less creepy.
Just a quick note for anyone commenting on the eyes, that is SUPER faithful to source material! Alita's generation of assassin cyborg were specifically designed to look doll-like, to seem nonthreatening and get closer to their targets. In the manga, other characters always laugh at and point out her big eyes and small body. So this is (surprisingly) accurate to the original comics.
This looks so unique! I'm excited to see if it's actually going to be good or not. Could go either way....
A lot of people complaining about the size of her eyes but for me that's what makes her so special and this movie in general. That is the point. Anime-like aesthetic.

Why is Alita the only one who looks the way she does? No other robot/cyborg's face looks as uncanny-valley and cartoony as her? Every other robot/cyborg in this trailer at least looks like realistic motion-capture, she looks like an animatronic or mannequin or something. Was that the point? Was it intentional by this world's logic to make her look close to human, but not entirely human? I'm not familiar with the source material. I want to give it a shot, but she looks so out of place even compared to other robots; she's literally the only one who looks like a literal video game character.

I have no clue so I'm trying not to sound like a smartass and I feel like the "the protagonist looks different because of anime logic, plot reasons, and/or protagonist reasons could be applied to countless other anime". Also, it's anime. Big-eyed girls are sort of a stereotype in anime, but in live action it doesn't really have the same logic behind it. I don't know.

That's because anime/manga use large eyes to express "innocence". It's a genre convention that doesn't really work in a more realistic world.
I loved it !!! It looks great and music was so on point and loved the big eyes because it makes her like real robot and James and Rodriguez is unique but great combination !!!!! 😍😍😍

I swear this was the best movie I seen so far she so brave and she so couraging. A movie with a cyborg girl and how she save humanity and be a Hunter Warrior is the best proportion a girl can ever be this movie was my favorite I will always never forget this how a strong most powerful girl save the world.

Battle angel Alita was the first manga movie I watched back in the 90's. It had great vision and Scifi gore hoping this remake doesn't stray from that.

Not sure about the eyes...but damn this movie may become the first good adaptation from a manga....so much hope..
I actually really like Alita's live-action design, it feels quite faithful to the sorce material from what we've seen so far and it demonstrates that she isn't meant to have a realistic design. :D
My fear for this film is the huge production budget ($200million!!!) and the risk of being a box office bomb. We've already had an example of it happening with Ghost in the Shell this year and it had a smaller production budget of $110million. My hope though is that all the big names behind it (James Cameron especially), a decent marketing campain and decent reviews would generate enough word of mouth to give the film legs to be a success.

I don't understand their decision, in the original manga she was normal, either do everyone's eyes big or none at all.
I remember a few times people commenting on her eyes being beautiful but different.
But they mostly commented on her octopus lips, which im glad they didnt use in this live action it seems.
