Yeah, a lot of guys can do this, but finding a woman who can, well she's a keeper even if she only has 1 leg, 1 eye, and a speech impediment. Quality is in what you can do. You never hit the wall in a mans eyes if you can make Spruce tip tea, and cook on a rock.
Just watched this video for the first time. I am so glad you said your meal was "very good." I so often hear young people today say that some meal they had was "amazing." The beautiful creation all around you is amazing, your wife is amazing, but a meal is "very good" Thanks for all your fine videos. When I am stuck here for long periods of time, your material is very refreshing.
Really? a couple thousand people thumbed down this video? They arent doing anything in this video they are only cooking on a rock. We can learn from these videos, these people are teaching us necessary tips.
as a strictly educational video it is not bad. But as a "survival" video it has one MAJOR flaw and something that should NEVER be done. NEVER, EVER, EVER cook in camp. Food prep and cooking should be done at least 100 yards from the camp when in bear/cougar country. Which is most of the wilds in North America. This is showing VERY bad habits that should be avoided. Cooking in camp can and has lead to many camping deaths. So as an educational video its fine but it should be noted very clearly that this should never be done anywhere near sleeping areas.
Many deaths? From the statistics it wasn't from big cats. There are only about 4 cat attacks a year with 1, on average, being deadly in the US and Canada. Only about 30% of the US even has bears. In most of the US your biggest threat is going to be raccoons. Take precautions if you are in an area with predators, but the "never ever ever" crap is over the top.
Thank you Lonnie, you deserve a lot more likes and views on all your videos for taking the time out of your life to teach us. It's a great privilege to have you.
I love your videos, Lonnie and Connie! It is such a joy to see the two of you enjoying the beauty of creation up in the far north, together! I hope you are blessed with many more years of love and happiness together. And, thank you for sharing your talents with us!!
I agree. his voice is so relaxing and his energy is so gentle. about year n half ago while I worked 12-16 hours a day for about a month .. if I couldn't fall asleep right away I played one of his videos and I'd be knocked out within minutes.
This has got to be your best video since Lonnie erected the canvas tent wearing his buckskins! Love the idea of the stone griddle, the drip cup from the bacon, AND the idea of being able to STUFF bannock! Excellent idea! Never mind just mixing good things into the bread, stuff the bread! Ten stars!
this is a video of peace, i really like to see how your wife preapre the meal so calmly and explain everything very well, his face and your face when taste the food is marvelous, i really appreciate your videos, keep sharing your experiences in the wild, greetings from venezuela
We went to Greece a long time ago and unfortunately almost no one spoke English. We went to a restaurant and pointed to something on the menu we couldn’t read. They ended bringing a super heated rectangle shaped stone ( I thought looked like marble) and brought out either lamb or chicken. We were like what the heck do we do lol. The waiter put a piece of the raw meat on the stone and we felt super dumb. In the the end it was super good food and a memorable experience ! I would go to that place again in a heartbeat. Anyway this video made me think of that.
You guys are great and you’ve got a great looking, intelligent, well educated wife, so thanks for putting this out and tell your wife she needs to keep doing what she’s doing bc you guys both know how to work as a team and this is what the world needs 👍🏻
Guess you don’t need super expensive cooking gear at all. In a pinch/survival situation, good to know I could cook meat, etc. ON A ROCK! Good info. Love your channel.

A might fine way to enjoy a meal in the bush. And though I'm a city-dweller, I'd mightily enjoy sitting with you both and learning from you as we shared a meal such as you show here. I really have enjoyed each of both of your various videos, and have learned much just from watching you both. You each have mighty good skillsets and clearly greatly enjoy being in the bush. Your videos are not only very informative, but are relaxing and calming to watch, thus I enjoy them greatly. Kind and Respectful Regards Lonnie, Connie, and Buck; Uyraell, New Zealand.

I'm binge watching all of Connie and Lonnie's cooking playlist! Who's with me? 😃 It's all about that look on Lonnies face of pure joy with every meal 😆 You KNOW it's good.
Thank you for this amazing teaching video! I found it very interesting to watch, very innovative ways to cook if you happen to be out, away from the limelight.. peaceful, quiet, doing all the stuff you'd normally do at home, but in a very natural, raw setting. Free from all life's luxuries and all the gadgets that make chores easy breezy....here's to the folks that made this video, in such a wild, natural setting, without all those fangdangled things. Awesomeness for sure!! 😋
My brother Lonnie. I have been watching you for a little while now and I've come to the conclusion you are a good man. I have also come to the conclusion that you have a very wonderful wife. Hi Lonnie, this was totally worth the wait! And Connie, Lonnie said it all, it doesn't get much better than this:) This is a wonderful video and can't wait to try your stuffed bannock this weekend, all the best to you both. I'm watching this many times over to learn your technique to a "t".
We have a fire ban on right now so made the stuffed bannock on the gas stove in the cast iron fry pan, not very primitive.... But we very much enjoyed your stuffed bannock, it is yummy! Now your recipe waits to be tested on "the rock" when the ban is off and we have found that special rock to enjoy cooking primitive style. Thank you once again!
You are very welcome my friend. Glad you enjoyed the stuffed bannock. The "stuffing" choices are of course open to ones imagination and the taste bud. Some dessert stuffed bannocks would be wonderful as well.
I can see dessert stuffed bannock as a breakfast meal already:) Thank you Lonnie, and hope you and Connie are enjoying your new float-craft. Looks roomy and stable to haul what your need in July, I'm still jealous, lol. All the best!
Unfortunately we do not have the boat yet and may not get it. The manufacturer has been much less than truthful with us and i don't know when he will have the boat done.......if ever. We may eventually have to cancel our order and get something else.
Very sorry to hear the boat order isn't working out, it looks like such a great boat to use for river transport. Sure hope the manufacturer comes around and you can get what you need. I don't know how businesses can operate without following through with what they promise, but there seems to be more and more of that happening unfortunately. In the meantime I hope you can find a boat for your trip and that plans are coming together for you. We went to the dam today and found a flat stone that I hope isn't sandstone. There is slat here, just have find a piece and also check if it's good around fires. Next weekend hope to build a fire and try primitive cooking the bacon and stuffed bannock:) Have a great week!
Y’all are bad ass!! I really appreciate the ones that I’ve seen so far. With all the modern conveniences that we have we sometimes forget, or some of us don’t even know the basics. Way to go Lonnie and Connie
