    Love the video! Sometimes there will also be app critique session on the interview process. The employer will give you a random app and let you talk about what is the pros and cons that you see. I been watching lots of design challenges and app critique videos to be prepared incase I get into that situation. Your low-fi wireframe looks great so far!!

    Nice video! Regarding the UX interview, I watched Femke's videos here on UA-cam, which really helped!
    I have a Graphic Design + Art & Tech background, so I had no idea of UX/UI interviews and I didn't even have a UX/UI Portfolio.
    For me was more of "This is my background, I know I have not much UX/UI experience but I am going to walk you through my process in one of my art research projects". And they completely understood.
    In UX there are many soft skills that are very important, and unfortunately, I couldn't show them the UX/UI big project I had been working on for half a year in the company I was currently working on. But again, they expect more of you showing how you think than a perfect final project. I hope that this can be helpful :)
    I got the job btw!

      Thanks Martina! This was very insightful and made me feel a bit more relaxed. I’ll check out Femkes videos. I’m happy that you were able to get the job by being transparent and honest.

    I’ve literally binge watched all of your UX design videos and have now subbed!!! I have a communications and marketing background and a degree in journalism but I really really want a career change to UX design as it’s seems so fascinating and I’m super passionate about it! I’m looking into potentially enrolling into the career foundry boot camp. I’m from the UK, do you know any other people from the UK that have enrolled?

      Hi there!! UX is definitely very exciting, what I most love about it is the ability to think creativity and analytically. CF offers a free trial, you should definitely check that out if you haven’t already, this way you get a bit of a feel of what you can expect.
      I don’t personally know anyone from the UK, but I checked the CF Slack channel and I can see there is a group that has been created called “UK_London_Meetup” which means there are definitely people in the program based in the UK. 😊
      I hope that helps, and also thank you so much for watching my videos and subscribing! 💓 hope to stay connected.

    Hey Cynthia! Thanks for this video. I really admire that you are very motivated to pursue this path. I’ve been watching your videos because I’ve been really nervous about my career change. I’m afraid I’ll feel too lost or alone when I start my course for full stack on careerfoundry next week. It was a big move for me to quit my stable full time job for this but I know I’ll do great. It’s just the starting part and I think now that I’m nearing the start date, I’m getting more and more nervous 😭 thanks for your videos. I love your place btw!! Take care! ♥️

    Hi Cyn! Love the message at the end, that reassured me to continue trying to transition careers with a full-time job as well. Quick question, has the class been at all over-whelming in terms of deadlines and workload? Since you're also working full-time, what's a good average on time spent per day/week for class? Thanks!

    • @CynVal
      @CynVal  3 роки тому +1

      I’m so happy my message resonated with you. I definitely become overwhelmed at times, but I would say it’s more because there are days when I have other life things that come up and I don’t stick with my schedule.
      But when I stay on schedule and dedicate at least 20hrs to the UX program per week I feel a lot better and accomplished. So, on average I spend 3-4hours per day studying UX. I hope that helps. And good luck!

    How is it like to stay in silicon Valley? How much is rent and can you live there comfortably as a UI/UX designer through salary?

    • @CynVal
      @CynVal  3 роки тому +1

      Hey! Nice to meet you! Just seeing your message.
      That’s definitely a lot to cover! I’m actually thinking about making a whole video about it, since I’ve been asked this a few times.
      Just to give a general idea (based on my life/opinions) SV is expensive- that’s a known fact, depending in the industry you are in- you could make very good money as a designer. From my research, I would say Tech and Finance have the highest paid designers and you can comfortably live in Silicon Valley with that income. I would say salary on average in these industries would be $70k- $150k, renting a 1-2 bedroom home cost $2500-3500 monthly, and houses usually sell for $1M+. Again, this is just what I’ve researched- so definitely look into it more.
      Stay tuned, for a video on this 😊

    The white boarding challenge is moreso about showing the interviewers your problem solving method. There's never a 'right' or 'wrong' answer. You are marked on a) your collaboration skills with the folks in the room, b) your design thinking steps, c) how you explain your solution. A good exercise to practice is to get some example product design questions from the internet and lay out how you would go about creating a solution for it and why you thought that was the best way. It's tough at first without the experience of talking aloud your thoughts in this way but it'll get better as you progress in your course and gather more 'tools' in your product design toolbox to create suitable solutions :) Hope that helps and loved the style of this vlog!

    How did you do the low-fi in procreate ?

    • @CynVal
      @CynVal  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Danya, this was the first time I used procreate for my low-fi wireframes, and now that I’ve created a few more I prefer using Figma it’s a lot easier and faster. Unless I’m just sketching without any details I would use procreate.
      But to answer your question, the way I used it here, there is a shape tool on procreate that allows you to create things like rectangles and circles, then everything, also used the text tool, and free handed a few things.

    do you have to memorize how you do a case study for a website or app or can you have it saved and layed out somewhere?

    • @CynVal
      @CynVal  3 роки тому +1

      At the end of the program there is a mentor that helps with putting together your portfolio. But also asI submit each task, I have it saved on my laptop as a PDF, and at the end of every achievement we put together our tasks and submit as a whole.
